Is anyone else reading this? Is anyone else enjoying it very much?

I just finished #15 and like the majority of the previous issues, my jaw hit the floor when reading the last few pages. How they manage all of these genuinely shocking moments (not cheap shock, mind you) and still manage to tell a story that doesn't revolve around those shocking moments is amazing to read.

And I'm with Bryce Dallas Howard, this book would make for a great movie, or an even better TV show.

And while we're at it, are there any fans of other Luna Bros. work? Ultra? Girls?

I follow the Luna Bros by trade. It's been very interesting watching them learn and master their craft. Seeing them make mistakes but learn from it and get better. For instance Ultra was too short but Girls was too long. I bet the lengh of The Sword is going to be just right.

See, I thought Girls was perfect in length. And of the three of them, I think it'd adapt the best for TV. I do agree that Ultra was too short, though, or at least ended too suddenly.

How many issues is The Sword planned to run?

I love this book. It is one long action sequence. It never lets up and when you take a break, it smacks you with a shocker.

Yeah. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who maybe hasn't read #15 yet, but when Dara lost her...um...body part, I almost fell out of my chair.

Have not been able to pick up 15 yet. Just moved to NC for the next six months and none of the shops in driving distance carry it. Will have to grab it when I go back to NYC in May.

Personally, I think this series is inferior to GIRLS, which was just non-stop page turning suspense. The SWORD is OK, but I have been disappointed with some of the story turns and plot-points.

My own estimation is that Ultra>Girls>Sword. I do, however, like Sword.

I haven't been disappointed yet, but I agree with you about Girls. That book was one big ball of amazing suspense.

I've only read Ultra so far, but I really enjoyed it. I thought the conclusion was pretty satisfying myself, though I do think the sub-plot with the guy who sold her out wasn't resolved well.

Read the first issue of Girls for free though, and it was one of the best first issues I've read. Plan on reading that in the future.

I'm curious though, is there Spider-Woman book worth reading? I know Bendis wrote it, but I'm curious how well their style adapts to super hero books. I thought the weakest parts of Ultra, art wise, were the scenes involving guns or action.

I tried another issue recently because of Blair Butler's great reviews of it, but I honestly couldn't really get into it, though I see how some would enjoy it.

The Sword is one of the biggest sleeper hits in comics today. This is a great read!!!!!!

Here's my review of The Sword 15
This one is a jaw dropper! For those of you have read this issue, you’re nodding your head right now and saying, “Hell yes it was.” I stared at the last four pages in shock for a few minutes. Then I looked at them again, making sure that I actually saw those things.
The Sword is a supernatural weapon, granting its wielder both incredible power and healing. With the sword in her hands, Dara wants revenge on her family’s killers. This title continues to play out like a great action movie. It’s pure in its simplicity. The Sword just kicks ass.
With two trade paperbacks in print already, there is no excuse to not be reading this.

My podcast covers the Sword also.

Can't get a lot of good comics here in NC. The Sword, Noble Causes, Proof, Hack/Slash. It's ridiculous. And the shops I asked won't order it forme unless I get at least ten books monthly. Well, I DON'T!

I'll just have to grab them at Forbidden Planet in NYC when I go there every other month for my NYC visit. They usually have issues going back three months on the stands.

The Sword hasn't been working for me. I hope when I pick 15 up it turns my opinion around. I really do.

That's crappy. How many shops are in your area that won't order books?

I needed something to read on my train ride home so I've heard good things so I grabbed a copy of the first volume at the store. Pretty good stuff. I like how the Luna's have this down to earth, naturalistic quality to their art work (like an indy book or something) and yet there's these weird fantastic things going on. I'll probably pick up the next book soon.

Stuff like that is why I switched to buying all my comics online. I live in Florida and the nearest comic shop is 20 miles away. I tried my damnedest to do my best to support the brick and mortar but I always beat the guy to pulling my pull list and half the time stuff was missing. The place had the weirdest shipping schedule I've ever seen in my life and offered absolutely no deals to boot. The guy that ran the place seemed nice enough when I would have a conversation with him but when it came to actually running the place he was pretty bad.

I've since started getting all my comics from horizon comics on ebay. They have a 4.95 flat rate for shipping regardless of how many issues you buy and everything is discounted.

Comic shop drama aside though, I really, REALLY like The Sword. As of right now I'd rank the Luna bro's books Girls>The Sword>Ultra.

Oh so true i think this is the story of all comic shops.........

As for the Sword, Its one of the best comics out there at the moment, always at the top of my pile too read , I love how the story can still shock but also move me as a reader at almost the same time, and the kick ass gory action is just the best going, I would recommend it to any comic reader................

The local shop in NC missed the 17th issue. They just didn't get it. F***! They did get 18, but I cannot read it until they fill 17. If they cannot fill it by next month I'll have to call a friend in NYC and have him grab a copy for me and hold onto it for when I head up there to visit. F'n annoying as hell.

The state of the industry is just demoralizing.

One of my top three series.

Only six issues left, a very well done series, looking forward to the next issue.
