Was it ever solicited? The first two seemed to come out in pretty rapid succession, I gotthe impression this series of books was being fast tracked by DH.

No, it has not yet been solicited. All I've heard about it is that Mike has done the watercolor illustration for the cover. It does seem like the first two came out fairly quickly and this one is taking quite a bit longer.

Sounds like good marketing sense to me. Don't stack these more expensive volumes too close together. Allow some time for the first two volumes to sell before soliciting a third or even a fourth. Also, you generate more interest this way, with more time between volumes.

Of course, the real reasoning could be entirely mundane, but I like the sensationalist mentality more, so this is the theory I'm going with.

But Neil I want them now! I thought Darkhorse made these for me...the Hellboy fan. Who else is buying these books?

Well, I for one am buying these books, and since I'm currently laid off, I would appreciate if DH spaced out their release until I'm making money again!

I just hope they don't scrap the library volumes. I am planning to pick up volume 2 this weekend.

Oh, you are totally preaching to the choir, my friend! In fact, I believe my voice was one of the louder ones (at least in my own mind) when crying for these gorgeous volumes to see print. Thankfully they now are, but unfortunately they aren't seeing print fast enough for the masses.

Money's been tight, so I'm fine with the wait. I still need edition 2 as well.

I have both library editions, and they nicely match the HC Art of Hellboy.

Yeah, the cover = lush.
And I love me these Library Editions: sweet printing, sweet additional content, terrificly sturdy books (even better than the already quite decent Art of Hellboy HC I'd say).

Hey, thanks for the heads up! Yeah, Mike's watercolor illustrations are so lush and incredible. This one is right up there with some of his recent best.
