Check back with CBR News on Friday for a new interview with Grant Morrison, where he discusses “Seaguy: The Slaves of Mickey Eye,” and some other projects he’s currently writing for DC Comics including one book about the Multiverse and a second in the vein of “Watchmen” featuring the heroes of Earth-Four, who are all former Charlton Comics characters.

Oh lord, one thing about Grant is that he always is screaming how people steal his ideas, but none of his own are terribly amazing.
I'll remain cautious.

You know, I can see why it would be tempting to do a Watchmen-esque thing with the Charlton characters that were the models for the Watchmen in the first place, but, um, that's what we had Watchmen for.
Honestly, I didn't even like it much when Moore re-did Watchmen himself with Terra Obscura. I wanted to like it, because I love those old Standard/Nedor characters, but it just felt like a warmed-over retread of a far better work.

Actually, Grant Morriosn already created his own version of Dr. Manhattan in Superman Beyond 3-D. He was called Captain Adam.

Whatever happened to that Watchmen Kids cartoon? That looked fun.

Too much 'bludity' on screen... and Dr Manhattan's toy had a gimmick that wasn't child friendly.

Actually, wait... since Kieth Giffen's writing Doom Patrol now, that means Moore has to write the Legion of Superheroes.

And this would be bad thing...how?
Personally, while I love some of Morrison's ideas and concepts, trying to retell watchmen isn't exactly what I'm interested in.
Ironically enough, way back in Giffen's last column, he mentions he pitched an idea similar himself.

That is really a fanmade parody
If you are talkin about Watchmen babies, that is a joke the Simpsons did

Yeah. There was also a Dr. Manhattan clone amidst the legion of Captain Atoms in Countdown: Arena, but it's best to pretend that whole series never happened.

Why bother pretending? It really DIDN'T happen. Had it happened, something might have come of it. Arena was the biggest un-event in comics history.

Especially considering they took Elseworlds characters out of well-known Elseworlds stories and killed them. Doesn't that sort of mess up continuity? At least the covers to that series were awesome.

And of course the early advertising art for that miniseries showed at least one of the actual Watchmen, but I guess DC backed off from that idea. Which was a good call, because that would have been terrible. I mean, it was terrible anyway, but it could have been even worse.

Oh lordy, Morrison's already done his 'Watchmen' when he did Zenith, still, another Seaguy is good news.

Ah, the ever delightful "Sure it's been done, but it hasn't been done by me," mentality.
It'll probably be good, but is there a pressing need to see that story re-hashed yet again?

Not really enough information in the blurb to really have any clue what's going on or if it's at all Watchmen-like.

I'm pretty sure this is all just 'viral meme Morrison' doing his thang, trickster that he is.
I don't think many people do blindingly original things at concept level--mebbe Siegel and Shuster, mebbe Stan The Man, it's mainly what you do with it afterward that sets it apart. I still have never read Morrison's Crime Syndicate stuff out of sad frustration, because I had the same idea (but with a better twist--and pages and pages of revamped villains turned hero) a decade before, and actually shopped it to DC--to no response. Somebody else just thought up my basic premise to use on TV's Brave and the Bold, in true '1000 monkeys with paintbrushes painting the Mona Lisa' fashion. A heroic Joker? been there, done that.
I've seen old art featuring Peacemaker from Giffen's pitch--it would have been outstanding.
Does anybody know--are they really gonna let him do Doom Patrol? I REALLY hope so.
