For anyone who might be interested, there's an academic study in progress regarding World Of Warcraft players and the real-life skills they may have learned from playing WOW:

Just a warning to people:
Bad bit of programming on that form though: I could read all of Athenabast's answers because it doesn't clear the forms once you have submitted.

I'm shooting an e-mail to the woman in charge of the survey (she's on one of my mailing lists) about that. Thanks for the heads-up.

That it turns out you're not a very interesting person?
It's okay, neither am I.
I learned how to tell people they suck, with the power of my voice, by wiping on sarth +3 drakes.

I learned that standing in the middle of large patches of fire/lava/poison/whatever was bad, apparently many people live out their lives without ever knowing this.

I would like to participate in the survey but my country (Gibraltar) doesn't appear on the list.
I have learned that "zomg" is a word. I have also learned that if I were to bash someone with a shield, any spells they were casting would be interrupted.

Sometimes i sit at my computer and wonder.
"Why do i have to tell people standing in fire is bad?"
WoW really doesn't translate to real life in most ways, because you will probably never have to say "Don't stand in that lava" to someone in real life.
