Sweeeeeeeeeet.
EDIT: This is coming out next week? They're really speeding up these issues to get everything set for War of Kings. I think NOVA #23, DARKHAWK #2, and KINGBREAKER #4 are supposed to be out next week, too.

Mmmmmmm....... so Phyla doesn't have the bands, Wendell's there......
The real Quasar's back, baby.

Yeah... though I wonder if he's getting the bands back just to slap them on Rich.
THough honestly, unlike how they handled Phyla, I wouldn't mind if Rich temporarily became Quasar in this instance.

Can't believe there are people lamenting Paul Pelletier's absence. Craig is welcome on this title anytime.

Judging by the cover (may not mean much) quite possibly could we see Phyla (Dragon of the Moon or Death?) vs. The OG Quasar!?

Maybe.
If they're bringing back the notion of Eterntiy, Infinity, Death, and Oblivion all having champions, then maybe Phyla will end up being Oblivions.
We know that Drax is sort of Eternitys champion. Wendell is Infinitys, or at least he was. They probably need to bring back Thanos if Death wants one though.

Or Doorman as Deathurge?
Doorman actually works for Oblivian rather than death though, right?
I don't get exactly what that is... one would think he would work for death since he grabs people after they die.

I don't get exactly what that is... one would think he would work for death since he grabs people after they die.Deathurge is an agent of Oblivion in that he abstractly represents the idea of suicide (self-negation) rather than death in general. Thing is, he keeps getting used as a harbinger of death in general. So the situation is slightly confused.

Phyla seems like a good fit for the job, though, if only for the matchup between her and Drax.

Nice, nice, niiiiiccce....
But why are the heads so fragging BIG? In real life those things are darn near 2 1/2 feet tall?
Moondragons head is larger than her shoulders, for cripes sake.
STILL...
me likey. First things first, Wendells gotta save Phyla from that nasty ol' dragon. And that dragon may be bad news, but he sure ran from the Beyonder. And Oblivion holds him in sway.
Maybe pull Moon out of the mix, too...
And pop Malestrom in his ugly mug.
The gang's all here!
I'm still not 'feeling' Drax as an agent of eternity...just dosen't fit in my mind.
WEEOOO...kickin' a** and taking names...

Now I just need to find a new LCS since the one I was going to closed :(
Books coming out next week...man I need to find a new store quick!!

Let's not forget Skaar #9!
Might as well throw that into the mix seeing how it is the Silver Surfer and we are getting a War of Kings: Skaar issue or two!
Now we just need Wendell to take care of The Sentry over in Dark Avengers and I will be real happy!

Exactly, the both camp, DnA seem to find the good way to deal with us, like a Phyla fan, I'm glad to see the character grow up, the return of Wendell don't seem forced, it's very natural and fit perfectly with the story.

Looks like this is going to have some tangled continuity with Nova, since Quasar is also appearing over there and it looks like the Star Brand might be a factor as well.

DnA have an excellent grasp of continuity, and the in-continuity reason Wendell has a habit of not staying dead is the fact that he's possessed the Star Brand in the past.
I think Phylla's ending up as Death's champion. With that, all four forces have their own champion and balance is restored:
Eternity: Drax or Adam Warlock
Death: Phylla
Infinity: Quasar
Oblivion: Maelstrom
Adam WAS Life's champion, but the reason Drax might be is that Thanos is dead. Adam balanced out with Thanos, but with Thanos' ascension this may have changed.

The Star Brand was only behind one of his resurrections, and he completely exhausted his remnant of its power shortly thereafter. Not to mention that the Living Tribunal explicitly swept up all of the Star Brand's remaining power in the MU and sealed it off from the rest of the universe. If Quasar had any Star Brand power left, he would've been exiled to the New Universe Earth with Kayla.
In the interest of keeping that particular can of worms closed, I'm hoping they don't go that route.

So far the Marvel space stories have been the best in my opinion. Good stories, good writing, good characters (well written) and not just events with out conclusion leading to another event with out conclusion...(take note Bendis you could learn something here).
War of Kings is shaping into more of the same.

I would like to see that closed for now as well. However ...
Quasar will always have a small percentage of the StarBrand and the reason he wasn't sealed off along with Kayla was because the Tribunal said all the good he has done etc basically saved him from getting banished and that the small part he does retain won't make a difference.
I always said though, what is one percent of Infinity?

Drax the Destroyer and a Kree/Eternal, he has no problem with. I love the fact that the Avatar of Oblivion craps himself with Quasar shows up.
I get the feeling DnA read the Gruenwald series.

I think his survival goes beyond the Starbrand. In Cosmos in Collision, when Wendell's body died, he survived as an energy being formed by Infinity. He was all glowy, had energy powers, could change his form (he fashioned new hands for himself, despite being initially handless) and had cosmic awareness. He chose to repair his dead body and reinhabit it. Now, in Annihilation, Wendell's body disintigrated but he's now an energy being again. Maybe he never stopped being one from CiC. He just was an energy being infusing a body.

I agree. I don't think they are going to get all involved with the Starbrand and the mess that came with that, LOL. Wasn't all that bad but some of it was kinda worth forgetting.
Definitely some kind of energy state, though what kind? Quantum? If he battles against Maelstrom I am curious to see if the bands effect Wendell at all.
The only problem with Wendell coming back now, is it looks like War of Kings will end early.

So, Quasar was a character I had no interest when it came to the cosmic side of Marvel, but man with GotG and Nova, he's REALLY starting to grow on me. You can't get any more bad ass than that last preview page.
Though I hope there'll be a change in artists soon. Not really a fan of the cartoony look.

I preferred the ANnihilation one too.
That said, I think they're on somewhat of a Gruenwalk naustalia trip.
Also, that's what Nova wore when he was an energy being in Cosmos in Collison. So it's kind of fitting.

If by the "anomolous" costume, you mean the one Origin created for him, that was horrible. If you mean the Marvel Boy variant Eon created for him and Origin retconned out, that was... okay..., but it's still more "Marvel Boy" than "Quasar".
The Annihilation costume was okay, but I still prefer his Final Costume (http://www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=50116&zoom=4), albeit with the shoulders "down" rather than straight across.
[Although someone really needs a word with DiVito - not only is he not maintaining consistency with Alves or his colourist on Nova, but he's now "off" with the crossover.]
'Sides, someone else is going to be wearing the Ann costume soon.

I loved Quasar's Captain Marvel costume as a kid when I first saw it, still do:
http://www.bringbackwendell.com/bcmarvel.gif
I was more of a fan of that one and the previous one than I was of his new post Cosmos costume - especially when they showed Genis wearing the same thing standing right next to him!
Then when the Ann costume hit the scene that was just pure awesomeness!
* Looking at the GoTG 12 preview the colors more resemble he ANN costume compared to Nova.

Stingerman I really like this costume too, first because he look like Captain Marvel and I'm fan of him, but he have also a silver age style that I like, he look like a classic superhero with a touch of modernity, my favorite just after the one of annihilation.

Yeah I really liked the Captain Marvel costume too...I wish he could have had it longer though. I think it would have looked better if the blue was darker like his next one and maybe if he didn't have that weird blue part on his stomach...otherwise I loved it...but I do love all his outfits though....Annihliation really outclassing all of them....that one exceeded my expectations.
The cosmic scene is really really good right now...I hope they keep this up.....and in case I forgot to show my excitement like everbody else.........

Personally I don't care what costume he's in or if he's back or not. If he becomes a regular somewhere I hope it's in Nova rather than Guardians of the Galaxy; there are enough characters in Guardians as is. I realize, of course, that some feel differently.

I have to agree. The post-Cosmos In Collision costume is my favorite, but the Annihilation one is really, really nice.
Ronnie Thuderbolts (from here on CBR) did the art for each version of the Quasar's costumes that can be seen here..

Well he did keep it through Infinity Gauntlet, LOL! (wasn't supposed to)
When the new costume deputed, reading from the Quasar letters page, either half loved it or half hated it, so that's why they changed it again in iss #25 I guess. And it did make sense story wise why they did change it.
However, we still don't know any history behind why Quasar had that new costume in Annihilation -- other than Gabrielle del' Otto wanting to redesign it.
BTW, pretty cool website he has! http://www.dellotto.it/

Pretty much EVERYONE got new costumes for Annihilation - if not during the event itself, then very shortly beforehand (Thanos, Star-Lord and a couple of other characters were redone during Giffen's arc on that book - and Drax, of course, was completely revamped in his mini, also by Giffen).

While the art and story look cool, am I the only one who thinks Maelstrom's dialogue is a bit off? Granted, I only ever read his appearances written by Gruenwald and Stern (and GLA), but he always seemed to speak with a more stilted, Silver Agey kind of speech (Gru was a great editor and a fine writer, but dialogue was not his strong suit). Seeing him using slang just seems off to me. Oh, well.
Every time I read something by DnA, I always find it hard to remember that they were responsible for Force Works. Hell, maybe in fifteen years Chuck Austen will be writing War and Peace. ; )
