Hell, no! Don't you remember all of the trouble that came about from "Jean Grey" being adapted as guardian of the M'Kraan Crystal? That Alpo came from the cartoon as well -- which Grant Morrison fed to us.

So no to Mijnari because of something Morrison did to Jean?

I disagree. I prefer Storm as an orphan. Plus, I'm sick of seeing her play surrogate mommy.

Actually the cartoon is referencing the amazing Lifedeath II where Storm delivers a baby for this girl whom she met in her journey across Africa without her powers(just after she got shot in the head by the Fenris twins). The child was stillborn or something, but Storm breathed life into it and it lived. In that tribe, they could only support a certain amount of ppl, so with each birth, the eldest tribes member had to die, in this case, the tribal elder named M'Jnari. So there already is a 616 correspondence to the cartoon character, but I would imagine that child could only be around 6 years old or so since the issue occurred in the mid 1980's (given Marvel time and all that).

The only cartoon-exclusive character I'd maybe want 'ported over to the 616 is Morph, but I don't feel strongly for it. I liked him in the TAS, but shape-shifters aren't generally my thing.
To be honest I always liked this character and I would like to see some incarnation of him within the the X-books or Black Panther.
I like the idea of Storm breathing life into him and being his godmother, therefore he is not directly related to Storm, but still close enough to be family. Maybe they can make him be best friends with Nezhno, almost spoils to one another: Nezhno's strength and calm attitude to Mjnari's speed power and more comical side.

Dug this thread up. because I just saw this episode on DVD. Watching the X-men Animated series. "Whatever It Takes" November 6, 1993 (1993-11-06)
The Shadow King lures Storm home to Mt. Kilimanjaro by 'possessing' her young spiritual son Mjnari, so Rogue and Storm travel to Africa to stop the Shadow King. After a brief fight Mjnari lures Shadow King back into the Astral Plain and the Shadow King is again trapped there.
X-23 was once just an animated character until pulled into Marvel 616. It would be cool to have Storm's Godson join a new team of Young X-men.

I agree. Lots of potential with both of them being mutants and looked upon as outsiders by the Wakandan public. Nezhno for having a Non-Wakandan Father, Ororo for being the "American who stole the King".
They both seem to have compatible personalities as well that would make them a good match for mentoring connection.

Anywho, they could also make him a misguided youth. Perhaps he fights various forms of injustice throughout Africa. However, since he is young, maybe he can cause more harm than good. Then Storm and Black Panther can teach him how to use his powers in a more useful/effective way.
As a speedster, I'm sure he could prove useful for Storm and Black Panther when they are fighting evil and what not.

Yes! I'd love to see him with a 616 counterpart. Marvel needs more major black characters. I'm tired of basically seeing Storm and Bishop as the X-Men's "black" characters. Yes, they have added a few more (such as Maggot, Gentle and Prodigy) but they are minor characters and not really X-Men. They should expand his character, and alter his powers somewhat. Maybe make him gay or bi and have a thing with Anole. Super-speed is kind of a played out and/or overused superpower. Maybe make him a geo-kinetic that can manipulate the earth, which could have gives him the initial illusion of super speed. He could be powerful like Terra from Teen Titans or the mutate named Zealot.
He should be a little rebellious and argues with others, but mainly Storm and T'Challa. The stereotypical angry black youth (everyone can't be a perfect role model. I'm tired of all the well-adjusted "black" characters. There should be at least one with a different attitude). He could even have a choppy relationship with Gentle, who views him as a monarch, much to his dismay.
Mjnari should remain Storm's foster son, of course. And as such be with the royal family. This would give her more ties within the comics.

It's true. I don't need RolandJP starting a thread every two minutes about how upset he is the Mjnari isn't getting a new uniform when Cyclops has had 5. I don't want to hear about how it's not fair that Mjnari isn't in a movie but Iron Man's had two. It's stupid. It was a stupid character on the cartoon and it would be a stupid character in the 616. Storm already has to pretend to give a damn about Neznho. I don't need some other urchin clinging to her ankles. It's bad enough she's strapped down with that pillow-case of rocks T'Challa. giving her some orphan son would not be interesting at all.

Well, if they didn't just write him out, then no1 could say that now, huh?
I mean Wolverine is on about every X-team there is (hyperbole. lol), so it's not too difficult to have a black character to be seen routinely.
Yes, I agree a black character with super-speed is a tad bit cliche' (if not down and out racist. But hey Jubilee use to shoot fireworks. lol).
I would like to see him make an appearance. I would make him out to be somewhat of a hero throughout East Africa. However I would have him bite off more then he could chew when dealing with a specific enemy (Moses Magnum perhaps?) and thus he would require the aid of Storm.
I would also have his mutation be more then just super-speed. Like how Speed can blow things up, or Kid Flash can travel through walls, I would give Mjnari super-speed and then some, but I don't know yet what it would be lol.

It's a tab bit cliche' (if not down and out racist), is a generalized statement man. It's like saying all black people supposedly run fast. Chinese people are associated with fireworks? Come on man. I mean as a black man, I'm not offended either, however I don't run track or anything (lift weights though). It's just an observation. I'm glad you want Mjnari as a reoccurring character at least. Marvel does a pretty good job quelling racism in their comics, however there are a few stereotypes that are still out there (however it doesn't mean they shouldn't make a stereotypical character). I really don't consider Maggot as a "real" X-Man personally. Technically he was an X-Man though, you are correct (which is why I mentioned him. In hindsight, I may have made a little error when listing him alongside Gentle and Prodigy). But where is he now? Obviously he wasn't that important of a character. And since he's not a mainstay at the mansion, I don't consider him an X-Man anymore. He got "killed" off panel, not even in a heroic manor to me.

How many super-speedsters do they have? And of those that they do, how many of them actually get decent panel time?
Marvel's most popular speedster is Quicksilver, and then I would say probably Speed or Northstar. I know Marvel has Spitfire and Makkari, but neither of them seem to get a lot of attention (IMO).

Well I was playing off of someone else's quote, which I added that it's more racist than cliche'. The idea of black people running fast is cliche'/trite. However, a black mutant speedster isn't (merely because of the fact that Marvel doesn't have too many black characters to begin with),so it's not unbelievable that they would give one super-speed. I like Mjnari and his powers, but I would like him better if his powers were expanded or altered slightly.
We don't have to agree man. It's just an opinion as you've already stated. I've just been around older black people that would see my viewpoint. Marvel is still great, and I still love Marvel Comics. Thnx.

I just never personally considered him a "real" X-Man. But that may change if he does something grandiose. And stuck around maybe 10-15 yrs consecutively. lol

I take it you aren't black huh? It's a racial stereotype, man. I'm not saying I'm offended (it's just a cartoon), I'm just making a point. Black people are said to run fast. Thanks for getting my Jubilee comment at least. lol
Poster, try reading T.H.U.N.D.E.R Agents, dis book has an awesome Black speedster called Lightning. D book is really good and we suggest u chek-it out:

Prodigy already had those powers and they took them away and tossed him into limbo so a vastly inferior team of scientist in X-club could take center stage.
Quoted 4 d absolute frakkin truth!
Wat an absolut waste of a another gr8 xcter just like dey did with Synch.

He should up in like 3 issues with a modified origin, reduced age, and powers not manifested yet. U can read about it on his comicvine page. It is annoying to say the least.

i think its funny that he also has Level 6 Intellect in their own databooks which means he outscores all of x-club plus cypher and ties with such notables as Doom, Reed, and Stark. And yet he gets the coffee jokes and never gets to solve one of the x-men's numerous science problems even in Legacy despite being smarter then everyone else. Seriously the last time we saw him was a few panels from Carey with him playing baseball. I will be shocked if we even see him in Age of X especially doing something of note.

They didn't send Prodigy to character-limbo so that they could introduced the X-Club. They are completely unrelated events.

Luke Cage is way 80's. Mr. T wannabe. lol. I know they had a few militant black characters (like Triathlon...now his sarcasm and attitude was funny. Reminded me of Lynnell from the Jefferson), But characters like: Storm, Bishop, M, Prodigy, Black Panther, and Gentle are basically all well adjusted. I'd like a sarcastic militant black mutant youth that has ties to the X-men come to light. He doesn't have to join the team.

LoL. I was being sarcastic....if not ironic with that statement. LoL. Prodigy was a decent character to me. He had potential to develop into a black Capt American-like team leader. But they already have Issiah Bradley (I think that his name from Young Avengers...I may be wrong, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I am). But basically he was a weakling in the powers game, so they basically nixed him.

No. I think if they were gonna do that it should have been done years ago, and then he could have him joined Gen X. As of right now we have enough "young" X-men that need their characters fleshed out, particularly the Five Lights, without bringing in some random family member.
I agree. However Gen X sucked with all their lame stories. It was a good concept at the time, and I enjoyed it until it went all bonkers with the stories. I forgot, Synch was another will adjusted "black" character.

I'll check it out man, thnx. Spike? Are you serious? He's a well adjusted, skateboarding rip off of Marrow, with 1/8th the personality. He was lame, weak and boring to me, albeit he's somehow Storm's nephew. Now it's characters like him that are added just for diversity that I could deal without. X-23 would've been far more interesting to me. He was so lame that they basically wrote him out of the series later on.

Shola is obsolete with characters like Hellion and Psylocke around What exactly is a "combat kinetic"? They are just trying to make what I call "psychokinesis" (I personally consider it a different power than telekinesis) sound cool. He didn't do anything that any other "psychokinetic" hasn't done in the past. If they allowed him to do things like shape weapons out of psychokinetic energy that would make him stand out (no psychic katana though).

Wow. I knew he was smart, but not that smart. But is that with or without his powers? Because with his powers, he'd actually be the smartest person alive, because he could mimic the intellect of Doom, Reed and Tony (wonder why Marvel has no super-genius black characters. I know they have some smart black characters, but why not one of that caliber? Why no females either?) . I know the Cuckoos did something with his mind to restore his prior knowledge, so how smart is he currently?

Yea. Synch had a kind of unique spin added to his "copycat" powers. I loved the rainbow effect and how they made him use it in distinct ways (like as a homing beam from his forehead). His adaptive aura should've evolved to allow him to always fly at a moderate speed, function as a limited force field, and project mild concussive blasts (somewhat like a toned down Cannonball). It should still have his adaptive capabilities as well, just to keep him interesting.

they had Bill Foster (who is at least partially responsible for the Infinite Mansion seen in Mighty Avengers) but they killed him. and they still have Doc Nightshade.
Mjnari should totally call himself Blur; as a nod to Supreme Power.

 Ummm, T'challa is a super genius. He is on par with Tony, Pym, Reed, and Doom.
