Well, now you've made everybody in the comics industry feel unattractive and they are going to mope around their bedrooms listening to "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera on a continuous loop for the next few weeks. All the comic books will be late. You really ARE evil!

Oh hey, I might remind people that if you go by the letter of the question in the thread title, it counts if you've been in the same room as a creator and been aroused by somebody else.

I've been aroused around them, but never by them, since the field is so dude-dominated. It mainly involved drunken make out sessions at 11:00 to 1:00 at night with different chickadees in the Green Room at Dragon Con for a decade, often a couple a convention...I don't remember a third of their names.
I miss drinking...and social interaction...:frown:

Seriously, I was struck something stupid after finally getting a chance to meet Marjorie M. Liu last month at the NYCC. I mean, man, my hands were shaking and my heart was about to pop out of my chest when she autographed my book. Hell, my hands are shaking and my heart thumping just as I'm typing right now! I was very fortunate enough to get my picture taken with her and (what I think I'll treasure the most) was converse a little bit in Chinese with her as well. Truly a moment I'll never forget  .

The sub-sub groups: Polar bears, Panda bears, chubs, and the ever-present chasers.
The new guys are "Post-bears". I guess I'm a part of them. Guys who appreciate the large and hairies, without getting into all the "theme" aspects of the life.

Okay, so Polar bears are older guys with grey or white hair, Panda bears are chubby asian guys, chubs are guys who are a fair bit more chubby than just "jolly".
Chasers are guys who are none of these (basically just fit, toned, skinny, lanky, or whathaveyou) guys who are REALLY into bearish guys.
And post-bears just don't worry about any of it.

what do these codes mean?
A group of gay guys who are anything but the stereotype for gay dudes. Not effeminate, not into body waxing and spending a million hours at the gym, and not into wearing tight mesh clothes and going dancing and talking about hair. Unless it's on the chest and face.
Usually.
Bears are big, hairy, chubby guys, more prone to sports and beer than shopping.
Cubs are younger and/or smaller hairy chubby guys.
Otters are smaller, slimmer guys with body hair.
Wolves are muscley guys with a lot of body hair.
There's a lot to the subculture, but that's the basics.

They are different kinds of gay subgroups.
Bears are bigger hairy men
Otters are younger, smaller and hairy.
Cubs are younger bears that will eventually grow into beardom.
Wolves are hairy, young, athletic-y men
Dazzler, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on any of the above. lol

I know, isn't it? It always makes me a little uncomfortable. I don't know why. There're also black bears...who are...duh, black. And Grizzlies, who are like Grizzly Adams-type uber hairy and gruff.
I forgot them myself.
LOL You know, my home bar is the bar where it all started. I even won a Mr. Bear title back in the day. Which none of my friends let me forget since I'm dead against the idea now.
We also have IBR (International Bear Rendezvous) here every year. THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of bears descend on San Francisco for the Bear Convention. Every store in town looks forward to it, because it's major dough rolling through. Everyone puts signs up in the windows that say, "BEARS WELCOME!"
Anyway.

My last trip to Chicago I went to the House of Blues and there was a Bear Convention (or something like that) around or in the same building. It was hilarious, and my bf was more than a little uncomfortable (he got over it, lol, but it was a bit of a culture shock right off the bat).
There were TONS of leather bears. On the streets. In the building. Everywhere. Pure awesome.

OH yeah. IML, the other big one. (So to speak....)
I've never been to it, but I know some guys who literally just travel around the country going to every single Bear event they can. And there are HUNDREDS. lol
I don't have the money or the inclination to do that.
I bet it could be intimidating if you're unprepared for it. Especially for straight guys, since it's not the "typical" gay guy they might be expecting. For the most part, though, bears are happy and welcoming people! (I'm not the best example thereof, though...hehehe)
