This was a better book than issue 2, in that we learn more about what vicious things the Hood and Osborn have been up to besides prostitution and drugs. Frank is having a field day disrupting proceeding, until the last page and then it's not so nice.

It starts with Harry telling Franks there is some new building in the slums and it's got all the criminal stuff - prostitution drugs and armaments. Frank can smell that it's a trap, so Harry tries to make it less of a trap, not knowing what Frank knows. Frank has already ruined some of the Hoods schemes, and the Hood has 8 directors strung up and killing them one by one while lecturing them about how disappointed Hood is with them.

Cross to Frank starting to break into the new crime building, and Harry "sees no ships". Then suddenly, a squad of 15 appears and are 15 seconds behind Frank, so he has to flee, and Harry is giving him directions to get out of their, with Frank landing in an elevator shaft followed by grenades.

Franks escapes by a whisker, but other commandos a chasing now, and it isn't going well for Frank when he gets to a dead end and they catch up to him. Harry screams, "Don't surrender to them Frank. They aren't the cops, then they start shooting point blank at Frank. The end.

This could be a cross between the New Avengers and Heroes for Hire, in that there are no heavy hitters in this book, but, it does relate to an Avengers Villain.

After reading Ennis' Punisher Max I was worried I'd never truly enjoy another punisher title again, but this one actually seems to grab my attention. I'm not sure how I feel about the old school leather suit with the white gloves and all that jazz, but I can put up with it.

This issue, more than even the other two (although it was present there, too), had a real Matrix feel for me. Everytime he starts ordering Frank on where to turn, and what stairwell to take, I keep picturing Morpheus ordering around Neo. It seems to work, though.

That began to bother me too. I think if this ordering Frank around goes on much longer it will start to grate on me.

And so far, Frank hasn't been very successful against Osborn and Hood. He's frustrated the Hood, but Punisher can't really get at these creeps. I wonder where Remender can go with Frank on this?

Im so happy to be collecting/reading Punisher again, I didn't get into the Max stuff and the one that launched out of Civil War lost my attention after issue 4 but this series has the the kind of theme I can get behind.

The Hood were cool but he seems to be trying to hard to be in King Pin's league. I wonder who his chess partner is?

He's obviously someone who understands Frank intimately It could be Franks dead/resurrected sidekick, or, that guy who was scarred in Secret Invasion.

I could not tell, but there was blood or something showing coming out of someones mouth.

But it does bring to mind the development of Parker Robbins, when you see he came from a petty thief background, then to conscripting a bunch of villains with a carrot, to now, stringing people up, and killing them in gruesome ways. (I'm ignoring the Tigra treatment from this, because she was an opponent, and that was an interesting development too, by Bendis). But this kind of shocked me, because we haven't seen this kind of behaviour from the Hood before. (Is, maybe, Dormammu having some effect on Parker, these days)? In any case, this issue showed for the first time the lengths that Parker Robbins has gone to get to where he is now, and adds a dimension to him in regards to his treatment of fellow criminals. This really puts the last nail in Parkers coffin as to what he has become. Before this issue, I could still see some redemption for Parker, but not now.

Nah he was cutting up chunks of meat and feeding it to the rabid dogs he stuffed a chunk of the meat into his lackeys mouth before dropping him into the pit.

I still like the book, but I don't think Remender writes a very good Hood. The character wasn't coming off right at all. He seemed like a generic "kingpin" type bad guy. It was really disappointing. There was just no unique personality to Hood's portrayal.

If you mean by the violence the Hood metered out on the lackeys, then yes, the Hood was Kingpin like. I liked this development because it was so unexpected from Hood.

Since the cabal formed I was wondering how far The Hood would go after being given the green light to do whatever he wanted. Now we get to find out, and in the Punisher book, and not the Avengers books. I think Remender is having fun with this.

Good issue. First 3 have been better than Fractions entire War Journal run.

Remender is currently Marvel's top writer IMO.

This book was awesome. I was almost in tears when it ended. I. Need. Issue. 4. Now.

And the rest of the series too.

I was just reading the first Punisher MAX arc where Frank literally blows Micro's head off, so if The Hood can now raise the dead, my b.s. detector is going to kick into the red alert area.

If it is Microchip and everything seems to point to it being him, it's a crap move.

Though I'm enjoying Remender's Punisher a lot more than Fraction's, but I don't think this "Frank Castle: Agent of HENRY" is a concept that can go on for long. It makes the Punisher look like a gun that someone else is aiming.

Just got mine yesterday. It was a bit dragging to see that there was no confrontation of The Hood himself though all in all it was a great issue.
It's like a rat race, everyone just wants a piece of Osbourne. Frank and Henry is definitely a contender. Remender is doing a great job.
Seeing Osbourne pissed even a little bit is defitnitely worth it. ( in #2)

Other than the MAX series, this is the best Punisher I have read in a long time. This is the best 616 Punisher I have ever seen. I love seeing Frank interact with the regular MU, and can't wait for more.

The action and coreography of the fight/chase scenes is brilliant. Like watching a movie. His battle/escape from the Sentry in issue #1 was done perfectly, as it gave me a real sense of "Jeezus Frank, get the fuck outta there man, your gonna get stomped by the most powerful being on Earth here", and there was no jobbing on Sentry's part, or ridiculous PIS from Frank to get a win.

The second issue had a sweet gun battle, showing off Frank's gunplay skills and also gave us more insight into Frank's new sidekick.

But issue #3? Blew me away. I was actually going "Run Frank, run!" and loved the intensity of the chase. It was also nice to see a bit of Frank's hand to hand skills (albeit, he did resort to weapons in the end), and would like to see more of his martial arts and hand to hand skill come into play, instead of simply shooting his enemies.

Some impressive agility feats from Frank too. It's not often you see Punisher running for his life, leaping, dodging and diving his way to safety. And most of it with a rifle slug in his leg. Awesome stuff.

Remeder? Your doing a brilliant job. Keep it up. And the art? Spot on. DO NOT CHANGE THE ARTIST PLEASE!! I hate it when they swap art duties after an arc. I want this guy to stick around for a while. It's a perfect style for this book.

This issue was my clear choice for BEST book of the week. Kudos to all involved, markedly Opena, whose artisrty is a significant! part of why I love this title so much. So much so in fact, I may leave this title when he does. Until then, there are few titles more visually grandiose with gritty realism and pulse pounding thrills on the shelves.

What happend to the Sentry in all of this? Wasn't Frank supposed to "fight" him in the first issue?

He lost track of Frank after being bluffed into flying a falsely rigged hospital. Since then we haven't seen him.

That's immediately who I thought of when I saw that shadowy figure. But did he die in 616 continuity? I don't remember...

As for the rest of the book, I'm loving the hell out it. Remender and Opena work wonders with the action scenes. I don't who's more responsible for them, but they're so well choreographed. I really get the feeling that Frank is running and jumping through these situations. It's incredibly cinematic.

Sucks cause the artist for issue six is Tan Eng Huat (dude fron Silver Surfer: In thy name). I dont see his art being anything like Opena's.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I've seen his art and somewhat like his exaggerated, sureal artistry - a look I'm not entirely opposed to. I'll see what he brings to this book before calling it quites.

Here's something to get some discussion going: With Punisher being fired upon at gun point, how will he survive?
