Not it isn't. Same as characters piling up the archetypes/personas.

I have a feeling this will be the last time we see Colossus without his shirt on for a very, very long time.
Just long enough for everyone to forget he ever had that tattoo. Sorta like Warpath and his huge back-tat.
I'm not opposed to it in theory, but the application of it isn't so great.

I actually really liked this issue. I think seeing Colossus letting loose was long overdue - despite the fact he's still pining over lost love.
More importantly we saw some great interaction between Scott, Hank and Warren (even if Scott was off panel). Hank's reaction to Warren's secret was awesome.
I'm loving X-Men comics at the moment. Everything just seems to click and seems so connected for the first time a long time. I feel the price of the comic is actually worth it.

Anyone think Magneto might end up saving the X-Men's asses in the crossover with the Dark Avengers?
Personally I believe that all the Dark Avengers barring the Sentry would still go down if they were all psi-proofed.
But a newly powered Magneto may be able to cause problems for the Sentry or at least his psi-proof tech.

Fraction said that Bendis wanted to use Magneto in Dark Reign, but they gave him Emma instead because the x-books had other plans for Magneto. It might be next year before those plans are realized.

Only good that could come from these mess of storylines is Magneto repowering every body. Thus ending the 198 idiocracy once and for all.
Magneto should be the one to end up saving the day. Actually being a mutant leader to rival Scott/Emma the influence. Since Scott/Emma Regime just bask in their Mutant King and Queen roles, and Magneto actually was one of the few to try to repower the race (I don't count the X-Club as a serious function).

Side-Bar:
When Peter "died," we got a poignant one-issue story where Kitty scattered his ashes back in Russia and remembered fond times while seeing the place where he grew up.
When Kitty "died," we got a convoluted sub-plot that stumbled through four issues where Peter punched some guys and got a lame tattoo, and remembered that it's okay because Emma Frost is here now.
A distinct imbalance, folks.

One additional reason to hate Newsaram: this ungodly review of Uncanny! What in the Lois London HELL is this crap? It has to be a satire:
I am loving Matt Fraction on Uncanny so much that in the first time in ten plus years I actually look forward to the book each month. This issue rocked in many ways, but for me, I was won over just because I simply loved seeing Emma Frost and her diamondiness teaming up with the brooding Colossus to beat up a bunch of naughty Russians. What a smart team up! Colossus and Emma Frost! That could be a totally cool mini-series. It’s great to see Emma play with being the physical powerhouse and take pleasure in knocking around some very bad people. I also loved that Angel finally revealed his ability to shift into the deadly Archangel to the Beast. It’s great to see Beast’s reaction to the return of the blue-skinned badass: a mixture of shock, fear, and hurtfulness as to why Angel hid something like this from him. Betrayal comes in many forms and the Beast’s dismay adds a healthy level of reality to a series that is as far from real as you can go. Plus, the final reveal at the end: Magneto! He’s back (again!). The X-Men have always been more than just a superhero book, as the strength of the stories, the success of the writer, lies solely on how well the humanity of the characters is handled. Readers care for the X-Men because they’re well developed characters and we want equal parts fighting and soap opera drama. Thankfully, Fraction gets this. And nails it!

Now we're sick of the whole cat thing, the barbed penis, the droopiness, the sloppiness, the mopeyness, the failed science and the all around boredom of the character. His AoA substitute, Dark Beast, is much more interesting. Anyway, the X-Men already have a scientist and his name is Forge.

Agreed
Ive just never been the biggest Beast fan. He was always meh to me, he could have stayed with the Avengers where he actually did some good and could have always been substituted with Forge and Cece Reyes. If the X-men had to have a Beast then I would prefer his AoA counterpart Dark Beast. He isn't afraid to take the risks needed, his moral compass is broken so he does whats needed to be done, he has a sparkling wit, and he doesn't BS. Looking back at Endangered Species really opened my eyes to how much more I appreciated Dark Beast to regular Beast.

Every scientist in comics becomes an expert in fields they were not originally portrayed as being experts in at some point. It's the nature of fictional, company owned characters. To single out Beast by saying that he needs to be killed off because of this, is completely ridiculous. Why stop with him? Why not kill off all of Marvel and DC's science based heros?

Every scientist in comics becomes an expert in fields they were not originally portrayed as being experts in at some point. It's the nature of fictional, company owned characters. To single out Beast by saying that he needs to be killed off because of this, is completely ridiculous. Why stop with him? Why not kill off all of Marvel and DC's science based heros?
I find you tedious. Work on that.

You're an embarrassment to awesomeness of Wallace Wells. Work on that.

That's not fair nor entirely true. I don't enjoy Fraction's Beast at all. On the other hand, I'm loving the character under Ellis. Too bad Astonishing never comes out.
I'm not enjoying his Beast too. But you're not the one urging writers to kill Beast and make him disappear forever and ever.

Wallace would agree with me, and you forgot the the before awesomeness, Typer of Words.

Heel Persona:
The marks will complain about Beast, but will still continue to purchase whatever he's in. The marks constantly dis him but support the character and how he's used by paying for the books he's in. If you know that Beast is gonna be featured heavily in an issue... don't buy it. It will send the message quicker to marvel than these false please from the 3.5 Dazzler marks who complain. Sorry to be insulting but I'm a heel right now... live with it... I have...
Might I suggest that you cage the heel persona? I've forgotten what the tweener persona sounds like.
bet thats going to scare him right off.
Probably not.
How should we send a clear message to you?
Horse head in bed might work.
Thats like me saying that you are a Psylocke fan if you dont want Rachel Grey in a book, it makes no sense.
You're right, that makes no sense. Everyone knows its JEAN fans that don't want Rachel Grey in a book.
You would say that - typical Dazzler fan
That's just what a Cyclops fan would say.

Wallace would find my typos to be adorable, as I have no pants and am making mixed drinks.

No, I am not. You, however, have a tendency to be much the same way with Storm.
Just sayin'...
Wallace would find my typos to be adorable, as I have no pants and am making mixed drinks.
But are you sleeping with a straight boy?
And do you look good with no pants?

At the moment, no. I'm sitting in front of a computer.
And yes. Yes, I do.

To be fair, it can be quite tedious pointing out the silliness of the attitudes of most x-fans.

There's nothing wrong with Beast. He's one of the few X-Men who have remained constant throughout his appearances.
As for the issue, w/é. It was nothing amazing and if it weren't for the ending with Magneto, I would have probably thought worse. Emma remains the thing holding the book together. Colossus bores the @#$% out of me and although I like Beast and Angel, I kind of wish they'd give this whole "find a mutant cure" thing a rest and focus on other things.

I found this issue at the mall this evening.. at the shop where I buy Pringles from
Anyway I liked the issue, it is the hub for many developments such as Magneto's return.
I liked Emma in this issue.. she really is the glue to hold it together like q.u.e.e.n. mentioned.
It was interesting, and the last page previewing the next issue seems to promise it will get more interesting starting with the next issue/arc

i read this earlier today and enjoyed it. i would say that it's been one of fraction's better issues thus far.
the stuff with magneto surprised me; if we're to believe he's repowered, it looks like mutantkind may have other "hope". i guess the only problem would be if the x-gene can't be passed on still, even if former mutants can be repowered.
that scene, in the least, makes me think that magneto's back and that he's got something cooking. what's in it for the high evolutionary, though? what does he stand to gain?
