View Full Version : So how long until Emma Frost gets the Phoenix Force?

The last couple of episodes of Wolverine and the X-Men have me thinking that Emma Frost as the phoenix is inevitable. Marvel going to give it to her.
So how long before it happens?
I say in about 2 years...

I thought she'd already had it in one of those warsong/ endsong mini series.
I take it as a Jean fan you don't want Emma to have it and you think Marvel are giving her all the breaks.
To be honest Jean has been ruined by having the Phoenix power and any character that gets it is better off without it.

Yeah, every Emma fan should be hoping and praying she never ends up with the craptastic Phoenix Force.

Hopefully this will neva happen; let Phoenix fly off to some distant galaxy far away.

It will obviously happen in a matter of months. Her first order of business will be to erase any trace of Jean Grey from the timestream, as Jean was a major bummer for the Phoenix force.

I honestly hope Jean returns says "Look... the days of the simpy, confused red-head damsel are over and out. Scott...it's been real. Logan...we'll be friends but that's it. Phoenix you give be heartburn and indigestion.. .get the hell out of my body! Emma, do your best and take care of Scott. I'm out. If you need me I'll be with Charles and the real X-men."
Emma would have to undergo another Secondary mutation and gain "Omega" status for her to ever dream of wielding the Phoenix Force. During "End Song" the power cooked her ass IIRC. And, if that happens we will all know that Marvel really does want to make her "Jean Grey Summers the II" Although she would not scream "I am Phoenix..." It would be more like "I just washed my hair and can't do a thing with it"

I hope never. It ruins characters.
I like the Phoenix Force (well the idea of it anyhow), but it needs a vessel that isn't a popular character.
I really think it ruins characters, so yes, give it to Ink. I like Ink, but really inteh end, don't care if he lives dies or goes to limbo.

In Endsong, Emma proved to be unable to contain the Phoenix and in WATXM, Emma exploded when she tried to contain the Phoenix.
Marvel would never let her be a full time host to the Phoenix. However, since the Phoenix is so powerful and complicated, I don't want Jean to be permanently attached to it either. For simplicity's sake, she should come back as the Phoenix first, than be completely separated from it later. Permanently. Not even a hidden spark would be left.
they just have a piece of it.
Wouldn't that act have been negated after Jean fixed the (amputated Earth-15104) timeline?

Maybe just let Rachel be the Phoenix again since she is having cosmic adventures and bring back jean without it.

Hey, look, a thread in which a bitter Jean Grey fan complains about Emma. That's new and unexpected.
It happened in Warsong
Yea, I remember now. In an interview, Author Greg Pak said "This is not a Jean Grey resurrection story." Which now makes even less sense. But, hey that's over and has been retconed by editorial. I hope:wink:
OMG, look Emma's on fire!

Lack of imagination? Which brings me to my next instance of "Jean Grey" identity theft. For years it's been theorized (Not, that I agree) that Rachel was the product of Jean and the Phoenix Force which is why Rachel bares such an uncanny resemblance to her mother powers and all. So how Ironic is it that so does Emma's daughters. Let's see...
1. Emma has Jean's Husband.
2. Genetically Clone daughters with the same powers
3. She is -- in Jean's absents Co-Headmaster of the X-Men/X-Students.
4. *Frost is also a latent telekinetic
5. Was briefly given access to the Phoenix Force. (Got burned for it:evilsmile: )
6. Her remaining daughters had and now hold/contain a fragment of the Phoenix
Force.
(*When the mutant known as Synch "synched" with Frosts powers, he was able to use them to levitate several objects and individuals in the room. This phenomenon was referred to as telekinesis and credited to Frost's psi powers.)
Can anyone else think of any thing else that Emma has swiped from Jean?

Ugh... to this thread.
HM: 2.) Why was Celeste able to act as a host for the Phoenix Force in Phoenix Warsong and Emma unable to in Phoenix Endsong? From what I understood Emma insinuated that it had something to do with herself being cold emotionally. Does that mean the host of the Phoenix Force has to be full of passion and positive emotion?
GP: In the last issue of “Warsong,” Emma tells Celeste, “I trained you so stupidly -- tried to make you cold and cynical. Because that’s how I survived. But you’re stronger than that. Stronger than me.” That might mean that Celeste’s psionic potential is actually stronger than Emma’s. Or it might imply that to host the Phoenix requires a willingness to open oneself up or give oneself away in a way that Emma couldn’t. I’ll leave it up for readers to draw their own conclusions.
But go and read Incredible Hercules #125 (Greg Pak) it already happened.

I have no clue why Emma still has fans. After blaming all of her evil on a black woman mind controling her. I guess giving her the Phoenix force is the only logical way to go. Perhaps the Greys terminated their contract with Marvel because Emmers was inviting herself to dinner and wiffing Jean's old possessions for "her scent". I used to enjoy BOTH characters. :/
