Enemy Of The State
Bad Boys
Independence Day
Men In Black
I, Robot

I've never seen Ali so I can't Include it.

Both Bad Boys 2 and Men in Black 2 sucked balls, probably due to the length in between them and the originals and the fact that they were so desperate to cater to fan's wishes that they in fact make sequels that they forgot to write good scripts.

I never bothered to see I Am Legend or 7 Pounds. Both looked like crap in the trailers. Hitch is a comedy so I don't see it as a summer block buster. Plus I didn't see it.

Hancock was only okay. Pursuit of Happiness may be good but also I have never seen it so I can't judge. Same with Bagger Vance.

I don't believe I even need to point out why Wild Wild West is not a good movie.

I, Robot was awful. Putting aside that it's not at all like the book, it's just an awful movie.

That's your opinion I liked it. It was a decent popcorn flick. like Minority Report or Enemy of the State (yes I know Minority report isn't will smith) which is what I wanted it to be. I've never read the book so I could care less if it matched it.

Yeah.. it is my opinion. We're on the internet after all. You stated yours, I stated mine. There's no need for you to try and invalidate it by stating that it's just my opinion.

And, as I said, "putting aside that it's not at all like the book, it's an awful movie."

Minority Report's no great shakes, either.

No, "I, Robot" was really good. Good acting, an imaginative story that stayed true to the Asimov concepts if not following the storyline. Good action scenes and a resolution I did not see coming (i.e. the "real" villain).

Opinions made as blanket statements are fun.

There aren't any really good Will Smith movies (that I've seen). THere are some entertaining ones, but none that land high enough on the overall quality scale to rate as really good in an unqualified sense.

Hitch is a comedy so I don't see it as a summer block buster. Plus I didn't see it.

What does the fact that it was a comedy have to do with it not being "a summer blockbuster"? And what does it not being "a summer blockbuster" have to do with whether it was "really good"?

And, for the record, the reason it wasn't a summer blockbuster was because it didn't come out in the summer.

The first that comes to mind is Six Degrees of Separation. Great cast and a wonderful performance by someone I only knew at the time as the fresh prince.

Independence Day is a terrible, terrible movie. Fact.

Ah, I remember Enemy of the State now. That one I liked quite a lot as well.
Looking at imdb, I can't see anything else I'd call "good".

Men in Black
Six Degrees of Separation
Ali
Bad Boys
Enemy Of The State
Hancock
Pursuit of Happiness
Men in Black 2

Hitch is not my type of film. I Am Legend was decent because the end ruined it otherwise i would rank it as good.

Wild Wide West was just bad, the same with I,Robot,Bad Boys 2.

Independence Day is not bad but its not good either.

Overall he has a very good record in good movies imo. A few bad ones, decent ones isnt too bad compared to other stars who hav made bad movie after another in recent years.

It's weird, Will Smith is a really, really likable screen presence, a funny guy and a very solid actor and yet the best you could say about most of his films are that they're fun but rubbish.

Men In Black and Independence Day are probably his best films, even if the latter really epitomises his fun but rubbish trend.

Bad Boys 1 is enjoyable as a comedy but Michael Bay is simply a horrible director. The second one is flat out awful, if kinda funny in spots.

Men in Black II is clearly an abomination of a film.

The Pursuit of Happiness is OK but is manipulative as hell.

I, Robot was iffy, as was I Am Legend.

Enemy of the State was a bland thriller.

Hancock was fairly terrible.

Hitch was pretty weak.

Though mind you, I should probably check out Ali and Six Degrees of Seperation at some point as they do sound like two of his more promising flicks.

without reading through the other 40 threads or so...

Hancock, Wild Wild West and I, Robot are all movies I cannot stand.
I see the merit in I, Robot though.

But geez... Independance Day is soooo great. MIB is too... and I like I Am Legend a lot.
He is very hit or miss. Every other movie is a pretty decent movie.

Pursuit of Happyness... not awful either...

He does very few good films sadly because I do like him on some level.

But for the most it seems like the directors say "Ok will my man, I want you to get up there and be as black as you can be". And thats how he acts in alot of his movie, he doesnt act like a guy, he acts like the black guy.

Although I am legend could have been good as I liked it pretty well but the god damn CG creatures ruined the entire thing. He finally had a chance to make a movie I would have liked alot and he was ruined by special effects.

I've actually enjoyed most of Will's movies. Even the ones others list as "terrible" I've found fun... exceptions being Wild West, and Pursuit of Happyness, I hated both of these.

though I see him less able to do the whole "sit down and listen to exposition" in the same way as Keanu Reeves

I'd have to go with Men in Black, Bad Boys, The Pursiut of Happiness, I am Legend, Ali and I'd put Hitch up there. It was a departure from what the audience had pegged him as. Independence Day wasn't really his movie. It was more Jeff Goldblum's. Wild Wild West was horrid. 7 Pounds could have been better but it had a great concept. I think most people got sucked in by the hype. Bad Boys 2 wasn't as bad as people make it out to be it just took way to damn long to come out. Hancock was half good.

Of the ones I've seen (mostly the popcorn blockbuster types) I've pretty much enjoyed his films, except WWW (which he probably did over Matrix because there was a song to be done... Remember when he made music?) and MiB2.

I actually enjoyed I, Robot as a fun ride  Kinda in the same way I enjoyed Independence Day. I can see all the 'bad' in it, but still can watch a fair-sized chunk and enjoy it.

He was a homeless drunk in Hancock can you get any lower than that

Neo actually had his own place, a job that prolly paid well, was hacking selling stuff on the side.

He was a winner even before the superhero he became.

I have to agree with this. From the Will Smith movies I've seen, some were entertaining enough to watch to the end, but I don't remember any being particularly good.

Hancock is a perfect example........Did I like it? Not really. But, I didn't feel like I wasted 2 hours (Or however long it was) away from my life. It was mildly entertaining enough for me to not feel ripped off, yet I didn't really like it and would never bother watching it again.

Yeah people are trying to prove Will Smith cant act, he is fun but dont make good movies.

The guy got deservedly two oscar nominations, i think he doesnt care if we think his movies are good or not.

To me he is the only blockbuster actor who i trust by name to see his movies.

His movies are all fun mostly and he can act in drama roles when he gets them.
