That's right you Brits! The United States government owns 80% of AIG. AIG sponsors Manchester United. They got their name on the Red Devil's jerseys. Thus, Manchester United is backed by both the private (Glazer) and public (government) sector of the US of A.

Now we just need to convince'em the club should be part of the defence budget.

The sponsorship deal between Man Utd and AIG finishes at the end of this season and will not be renewed by AIG.

Man Utd are chasing a new sponsor at the moment.

I know. It would be a PR disaster if it continued the deal. For NOW though....

This is kind of appropriate, since Manchester United is probably the most well known over here, and one of the few teams whose games can be seen on cable.

Curse you, AGAIN, George Bush -- We bought into Man United instead of Man CITY!??!

(What can I say...? I generally find myself rooting for the underdogs!)

Don't worry, Man City now have more money than sense. But nobody wants to go to them

actually all the premier league teams can be seen on cable if you have setanta. the question becomes what happens if setanta dies.

Nah, football.

PROPER football. Not carry-while-wearing-padding ball.

Or, for that matter, vicious-physical-trauma-ball (or "Australian Rules football" as the Aussies call it).

America should give money to a team with red, white and blue colours, especially if they have two American players and have won more national championships than the number of US states (51 compared to 50) so the United States should give Rangers $25bn bail out money just for starters.
