so did Deadshot doublecross them, or did he have a plan to save the SS's lives?

Oh, it was all a plan. Spoilers:

Floyd took them out without killing them because he believed whoever had the card would be killed for it by Junior's hired guns. By taking it himself, he hoped to save the others from this. But they catch up to him on the outskirts of Gotham and start fighting, only to be interrupted by tons of meta-criminals. Bane sees Scandal getting beaten and falls off the wagon, using Venom and going into a 'roid-rage like state, seeing everyone else as Batman and snapping the spine of some Z-list villain. Huntress shows up and tries to help Catman, but he turns her away. Junior arrives and the Six attack him, but she fends them off. Tarantula tackles him, declares she (Tarantula) has the card, and the two of them are incinerated by the criminal's energy blasts. Rag Doll tosses Mad Hatter's hat off the bridge, and Tetch jumps into the water after it. With no card and no one to pay the bounty, the super-villains leave. Finally, it's revealed that Scandal secretly still has the card.

what z-listers died?

Two I didn't recognize. A pirate-themed guy gets his head twisted 180º by Jeanette, and Bane breaks the back of a dude dressed like a musketeer. Neither were named, but they could just be original creations of Gail & Nicole.

There's also the debut (I believe) of a Killer Croc-esque guy named Komodo.

Neither are original characters. They are both old Batman villains that stopped being used sometime in the late 70s/early 80s.

Pirate-themed guy = Captain Stingaree

Musketeer guy = The Cavalier, who I believe recently made an appearance in the new Brave & the Bold animated series.

Enjoyed the issue as a whole, but two issues:

A. Would have been nice to have actually SEEN the card get passed around during the fight instead of just being told who had it during the fight since everyone seemed more focused on fighting.

B. How Bane seemed to single out the villains though everyone had Batman-esque features.

Though him busting through the car was a kick-ass scene.

Ah. I thought that might've been them, but I wasn't totally sure.

Wait, didn't Meltzer reveal they'd become a couple in his JLoA run? At least they died together.

So, Tarantula...ouch. Obviously she might not be dead because Ragdoll's sister is definitely going to live becase she's just too good a villain to lose, but we're talking third degree burns over most of her body if so. Personally, I'd rather she just be dead, if for not other reason than to completely bury that part of Nightwing's existence and Grayson's miserable run. Bitter? No, not me. Why do you ask?

Awesome issue and finale to this storyline.

1.There is a huge battle royale in this with all the hatter and junior's villains against the six, A true gauntlet.

2.Ragdoll trows the mad hatter's hat off the bridge and the hatter jumps in after it, sucker!

3. Junior and Tarantula get incinerated!

4.Bane juices up and starts breaking backs everywhere!

Excellent issue, Simone didn't disappoint as usual. I liked seeing the Birds of Prey showing up.

so Scandel survived the shot to the head. so she does have a healing factor.
Wasn't that established a while ago? In BoP she complained about having to grow organs back after getting shot, and the Suicide Squad had to use a .50 caliber machine to to capture her for Salvation Run.

I think The Secret Six is the best regular DC title, it is at least my favorite now that they have stopped Batman and Detective.

The way Gail Simone has written these Batman villains so well, I think she should be in line to be the main Batman or Detective writer sometime soon. I'd love to read her writing some stories with The Penguin or The Riddler, who I suppose could be interesting to see pop up in a Secret Six issue. I think it is cool now that the Mad Hatter hates these guys. I'd kind of like to see some interplay with Cobblepot and this gang, that WOULD be pretty fun.

I never thought Bane taking venom would get me all excited. Great writing there. Decent end to a great first arc. Here's to hoping the series can hold up from here.

I lurved it ! i'm sad to see Tarantula go she was really hot in this series.:frown:

when did Junior have enough strength to knock someone over a bridge just by swishing his hand? especially if she needs crutches....

The thing that i really like about this book is how by any other writer this could have been an over the top "grim and gritty" book but with Nicola Scotts lush artwork and Gail's sense of humor and quirky fun the book doesn't go around screaming in your how hardcore it is.

Another great issue, although weakest of the entire arc. The ending felt rushed. I mean, what happened to crazy Bane? One second he sees Batman everywhere and goes batsh@t crazy, and the next he stands calmly with rest of the Six. Also, villains letting the Six go, just because Scandal said that they don't have the card was simply stupid. Seriously, do you really believe villains wouldn't try to search them? Beside that, great ending to the story. My favourite title every month :D.

This is still in my top 3, but I found the conclusion a tad rushed (surprising for a 7 part story). Still very good though.

I can't wait to read this ish!
Tarantula was a cool character so I'm sad to hear she's most likely gone (I didn't read Nightwing's book, so I don't factor that in - none of these characters are saints anyway)
Junior ain't goin' down like that! She'll be back, jack!
RIP Stingaree (is Cavalier dead or paralyzed?)

I enjoyed this whole arc. I especially love the fact that we're getting meaningful developments.

Scandal got the card.
Bane fell off the wagon.

Nice to have actual interesting developments in a book.

Looking forward to seeing how the Knockout situation develops. If all the other New Gods are back, it should only be a matter of time until she is too, right?

I do enjoy Jeanette's extravagant posh character. Highly enjoyable addition to the cast.

I want to see Captain Boomerang Sr. :( He'd make such a great comedy addition since we can't have a Suicide Squad book. :(

I just freaking love this book. When I decided to get back into comics, S6 wasn't on my list of things to read, but came very highly recommended so I decided to check out. Consequently, I loved it so much, I went back and bought all the issues I'd missed and now I can't wait for each new issue. Gail and Nicola have to be one of the best creative pairings going right now. Everything about this book from plotting to characterization to dialog to art is simply amazing.

Not all of the villains knew what the card did. They were just hired help and when the person paying them died, it didn't make sense that they would risk their lives for no reason.

No, I haven't gotten those yet. I got the current volume. They're on my list of trades to pick up, though (they are in trades, aren't they?). Unfortunately, I've had problems tracking down the 1st issue (at a decent price).

Both are collected in trades.

Villains united is simply brilliant and the other mini which is called *six degress of devastation* is good, not great, but good.

This new stuff from gail is just awesome. one of the best new titles out at the moment and I hope it sticks around for a few years to come.

Um; yeah. What Grievous said. Although I reread "Six Degreed" when the ongoing started, and I liked it a whole lot better the second time around.

It also features the bestest line out of the entire series: "Shut up and eat your Grundy."

I thought the writing in Six Degress of Devastation" was brilliant. It was the art I literally couldn't stand. I'd also recommend checking out Birds of Prey vol 7 Dead of Winter (Secret Six vs. BOP). Now that was pure entertainment at its best.

I am actually really proud of Six Degrees. Some of it, the opening scene in the Kwan Lo Si (I may not be spelling this correctly) and the Mad Hatter stuff, and the ending bit with him and Ragdoll, rank among my favorite things I've ever written.

But I totally understand how people can still love the Six and not be wild about every single story.

Wait'll you see issue ten. YIKES.
