The Bastard sons and daughters of a Superman like character gathered together by his Lois Lane meets Sharon Carter Agent Of Shield wife in order to defend the City he protected from the villains he left behind.

It's reaching issue 20 this week not counting the issue 0 that came out last week and the annual that came out a few months back.

In my opinion its a superb indy comic and Jay Farber deserves credit for creating such a fun team with the most unique genesis ever. And you thought every story was told.

p.s. Hector is totally going to get him some Firebird or what ever her name is.

Nicely done comic, indeed, though of course this actually belongs in the Image Comics Forum.

I still much prefer Faerber's Noble Causes, which is about to come to an end, but what the heck -- he's still one of the best around.

I read it and love most of it.

Hector is my favorite of the Dynamos. I wish he got the chance to shine more in battle.

Wasn't thinking sorry I haven't read Noble Causes

Been a Faerber fan for a long time now, and this is one of my favorite books every month. Just a great team book with everything I read comics for each issue.

Don't you wish Marvel and DC had the guts to take chances like this with their characters?

I agree that I prefer Noble Causes, but having Dynamo 5 around still allows me to get my Faerber fix even though NC is just about over.

I highly recommend it, then. Pretty easily caught up with via trade collections, or at least that was the case when I discovered it a couple of years ago.

You should also check out, if you haven't already, Jay's Firebirds one-shot from a few years back that introduced those two very appealing characters. Also easily obtained.

While I will admit, I do prefer Noble Causes to Dynamo 5, I think part of it has to do with the amount of time Noble Causes has been around. It's been 7 years (going on 8) since the first Nobles Causes one-shot came out. That makes them like old friends. I'm sure that when Dynamo 5 gets there, it'll be the same feeling.

Dynamo 5 is an awesome book. One of my favorites. The characters are a lot of fun, villains are bad-ass, writing is ace with some top-notch art and great action in each issue. Plus, Scatterbrain's the man.

Last time it was brought up, I learned it could be back-ordered through Diamond, which is how I currently have a copy.

I'll track down the book's order number if anyone's interested.

That's just crazy talk, Phil. Why do something neat and original when you can bring back Barry Allen and pretend it's 1966 all over again?

dan bailey

If they really wanna pretend it's 1966 again, lower the cover prices to 12 cents & put the comics in the spinner racks at my corner drugstore (as would've been the case when I bought my first issue of Flash, #173, come to think of it). Then we'll talk.

I've actually been thinking of trying out this book, so tomorrow, I'll be picking up Dynamo 5 #0 and #20. What mainly convinced me was the preview for issue 20 posted on CBR's main page recently.

If I like these, I might swing back around and pick up the first trade, which, if I understand correctly, collects issues 1-7 and is only 10 BUCKS! This just might replace Gigantic on my pull list.

Why, do you want Image to go out of business?

This is why I love the super hero comics Faerber, Kirkman and that Hester guy create for Image - they can take the chances Marvel & DC don't (and probably shouldn't) take.

Sadly a lot of folks refuse to look outside of the Big 2 despite so much unhappiness with their books/

Aww man, I feel the new issue was one of the best. Just so good. Art was top-notch too and Jay brought in some nice funnies.

I just realized that the cover to issue 16 is exactly the same as the cover to issue 1 with Augie in the place of Captain Dynamo, Vigil in the place of Visionary, Firebird Sr. in the place of Scatterbrain, Quake in the place of Myriad, and Firebird Jr. in the place of Slingshot. Also the first three pages of each issue are similar.

In issue 1 the first page is five panels showing each of Captain Dynamo's powers. The next two are a spread of the team in action displaying those powers fighting the Veil.

In issue 16 the first page is four panels showing each of the team's powers.
The next two are a spread of the team in action displaying those powers fighting the Veil.

Also I wonder why issues 8, 9 and 10 are only 2.99 and everything else is 3.50 With the exception of the Annual and issue 0.

8, 9, and 10 I believe were lowered to try to get people to check out the book with the lower price. I don't think it did too well so the price was raised back.

Jay and Mahmud were having fun with issues #1 and #16 for introducing Dynamo 5 and the NEW Dynamo 5.

Greg nailed it on the pricing issues if you look at the solicitations a big deal was made about the drop in price (you can see all of the solicitations at the below link---->

Yeah but the solicitations don't match what is on the cover. The solicitations say that 11 and 12 are supposed to be 2.99 but they aren't.

I just picked up the trades of D5 and i liked what i saw. From the first two TP theres not a whole lot that i don't think couldn't have happened in the big 2, but still a good read. Still trying to decide whether i want to go to single issues or stick with trades.

And after a bit of searching i managed to find an issue of Firebirds. It was a good comic, but could probably have stood being a 3-4 issue miniseries instead of 1. A bit too compressed.

Since Noble Causes is ending, I decided to give Dynamo 5 a try. After reading two issues so far, its interesting but not yet a favorite. Will wait a few more issues before a final decision.

It is a different dynamic than Noble Causes but it is still a really good book and an interesting twist to a super hero team. Hopefully you start to dig it soon with a few more issues read.

I think you will see something in the next 3 or 4 issues that will be very different than the approach of the Big Two. The phrase "Change is Coming" has been a part of the solicitations and many of the fans on Faerber's board have guessed that one of the D5 is dying... and they will stay dead (radical comic concept). Stay tuned to find out.

I gave #0 a try, at 99 cents, after all my griping about comics getting over priced, it seemed only fair. I rather enjoyed it, and later got the Dynamo 5's first trade. This is a great concept, and I loved the characterization. While the team had problems and some personal angst it also had some fun moments and true heroics to balance that out. Are the current issues coming out comparable in quality and just as good?

I'd hate to start getting it regularly only to be disappointed.

I just started reading this series, having picked up issues 0 and 20, and I enjoyed them greatly. There's just the right amount of humor involved, and the art is quite nice as well. I'm looking forward to great things, come next issue.
