Dr. Phil!

For those that play, can a quick description be followed of why such a person is a douche bag? I'm looking at Gail's list and not really sure why these people are douches. I'm guessing Chuck Noriss is a homophobe. I have no idea why the others might be. Dr. Phil? That sucks, I kind of like him even though his show is for entertainment purposes only. Although I will say that when I caught him talking about the 5 biggest mistakes made by people during divorce, my brother's ex made every choice he listed.
Thanks!

Chris Brown - I think that's his name. Anyways, he's the guy that beat up singer Rhiannon. New York Post had a police photo of her and he really let her have it. Everyone that saw the picture at work was like 'Jesus Christ!' out of astonishment of the brutality of it.

Jade Goody - Yes, I know she's dying of cancer but such a horrible person doesn't deserve another chance.
She was a Big Brother contestant in the UK who was despised by most of the country but managed to establish a celebrity status before behaving in a monstrous manner on Celebrity Big Brother, racially abusing Indian movie star Shilpa Shetty (who won due to public sympathy) and Jade Goody became a poster girl for braindead racists everywhere.
She is a publicity whore who milks every last penny.
She got married today just to raise more money from the media.
What a bitch.

Arnold Schwarzenegger
Now there are many douchey things he's done. Speaking at the Republican National Convention in 2004 and helping Bush win that election is one, but that's fairly minor compared to other stuff.
To be specific:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZvsD-P7vpo
Here's another:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Vz6URLK_lI
(By the way, he went on to say that McCain was "built like a rock." So I was really happy when everybody saw those pics of Obama shirtless after the election to see how full of shit Arnie was. As for McCain being "built like a rock"? You dumbass, not only is the guy old but he doesn't have full range of motion in his arms, which you sort of need if you're going to do a full workout.)
There is also the groping (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/10/06/politics/main576614.shtml) and this (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2003/08/15/DD252336.DTL) as well:
"I hate pants. This is something I have inherited from my father," the actor told Playboy magazine in 1988. "He despised pants, and my mother was never allowed to wear them at home. We're talking about a different time period now, when the man was much more the ruler of the house. But I still feel that way, and neither my mother nor Maria is allowed to go out with me in pants."
Not "allowed"? Seriously?

I didn't really mean that she shouldn't be married before she dies but her wedding will be shown on Living TV at a later date as part of a documentary and the photo rights have been sold for a huge sum to a celebrity magazine.
Considering that the last few years of her life have been directly in public view, surely she could have held her wedding in a more tasteful and private manner.
I heard not so long ago that Jade Goody had made £8m from various media ventures so she surely is being greedy chasing a few extra pounds when she could spend her last days in a dignified manner.

Janeane Garofalo is apparently a real twat. And I'm sure she's the kind of twat who chalks the fact people find her a twat up to pure sexism, as opposed to her twatiness. Which makes her a twat and a douchebag to boot.

If it were me starting this thread, I'd ask the people cite specific examples of douchebaggery when identifying the people.
Back when Tony Geary was on General Hospital the first time around, riding high on the "Luke & Laura" romance, he was a major douchebag. I was involved with putting on a convention for Hollywood memorabilia collectors back then, and Geary appeared at an event as a guest, for which we provided a limo. He had the driver take him out clubbing for the rest of the night, running up about six hours of charges for our group after he left the event, and was a total prick to the driver while he was at it.
Then he left the show, full of himself and bound for stardom. He was not heard from again for about 10 years, until he turned up in Weird Al's "UHF", and eventually made his way back to General Hospital. From all reports, since he resurrected his career he has been unfailingly humble, courteous and generous.
So Tony Geary is an ex-douchebag, at least to my knowledge.

You've written that you had sex with your girl cousins when you were 6. Is that true?
Yeah. They were 5, 6, and 7, and I was 6 and we would play little games and some involved playing Mommy and Daddy and sleeping together.
And penetration occurred?
Yes.
But you don't consider that a sexually damaging experience?
Not at all. All kids who are 6 are rubbing it somewhere. If you as a parent don't think yours are, you are in abject denial.
But actual sex with family members is a big leap from rubbing it somewhere.
You mean actually sticking it in for two seconds and having her run and tell her mother that this isn't a good game anymore?
I'm curious about your date with "April," and how angry you were at the fact that she refused to go with you spontaneously to Vermont directly after your first date, when she was hosting a party.
Yes. I want someone who would have [gone with me]. Cause I would have done it.
But this is a woman you've just met, she has a commitment to host a dinner party...
The dinner party was three people: her best friend, one other woman and her uncle. I learned that she was the kind of person that would say no to me and yes to that dinner. That takes the wind out of my sails and makes my heart sink.
You wrote about that first date with her: "I despised her. She made me sick to my stomach. I literally wanted to vomit. Choke her to death and smash her dead head in with a rock and then vomit onto her deadness."
Isn't that clear that going so over the top shines a light on the absurdity and therefore renders it less angry? I think it would have been scarier to say, "I wanted to slit her throat."
I don't want to spend five minutes with a woman unless I think you're gonna be my wife or unless I think we're going to fuck.
Gosh, what a catch. Someone get me his number!

(Ann Coulter's already been mentioned.)
And though Paris Hilton's also been mentioned, she's so much of a douchbag it's worth putting her name in twice. Heh.
And I've heard whats-his-name, the latest Bond, is an utter dick.
And yeah, Tom Cruise is worth the mention---and I have a story for that one:
A friend of ours works with special needs students. He had one, a young girl around 14 or so (IIRC she was somewhat retarded) who'd been a Cruise fan for years, and pretty much had a shrine for him in her room, etc. So Cruise and Nicole Kidman are in town (back when they were married), and our friend takes the girl to a restaurant, and lo and behold, the couple are there eating (IIRC, I think our caretaker friend had found out they'd be there, and took the girl in as a surprise). So the friend takes the girl over to their table, explains about her hero-worship and her condition, and very politely asks Cruise to autograph something for her.
Cruise blows up directly at the *girl*, being really rude to her, saying stuff like "How can you have the gall to ask me that?" etc. Kidman gets furious with Cruise. She stops him in his tracks, tells him how he's being rude and ungrateful, that this little girl is a fan and that's how he got where he is, and she *demands* that he give the girl an autograph. Cruise subsides and grudgingly signs something for the kid, who haltingly thanks him.
Our friend said, while Cruise was an utter dick to the kid, it was worth all kinds of everything to see Nicole Kidman set him back on his heels and give him what-for over it. I have totally loved Nicole Kidman ever since. Heh.

That’s a large part of it, sure. However she’s a douche professionally as well. There’s nothing worse than having someone that CAN act decide that a role is so beneath her that she isn’t even going to try. Have you ever seen her out “promoting” any of the comic movies she’s been it? She’s always either saying she only took the role because it’s so hard for a black woman to find work or she’ll imply that the movie wasn’t very good because she wasn’t in enough of it. Heck, I’ve seen her do both with the X-Men movies. And then there was the Bond-girl role that she only took because she thought she’d get a spin-off.

She's also been very insecure in relationships. Much so to the point where if the couple go on a night out, they go to gay resturants and clubs.

Oh I say Sean Penn, he's said some ridicoulous stuff before granted he's talented, put the talent pass doesn't grant you the right to mouth-off with your stupidity can't think of any specifics but just overall. Douche.
If I can think of any others oh wait I can. Mickey Rourke, while he just got back into the gig, I don't think muttering about Marvel's paychecks to you is worth smacking your piehole about considering you just came out of rehab, and on that note I'll throw in Terrance Howard and his 'gurly' voice as Arnold would put it, bad attitude wants more money. Both are now Iron Douches.
Also Sharon Stone. Douche, botox on a kid really? You are the weakest link. Goodbye.

I don't think there needs to be a justification after. It can be a gut feeling. It's not Family Court, it's CELEBRITY DOUCHEBAG!
But for the record, I've never read or seen an interview with Cybill Shephard where she didn't come off as the most obnoxious, full of herself little nasty creep in history.
Sarah Jessica Parker is so in love with herself it's freakish.
Chuck Norris' recent writings not only make him a douche, they make him douche of the year. Plenty of ugly stuff in his personal life, as well.
Dr. Phil is, by all accounts, a completely repulsive person in his personal life, a deadbeat, a serial cheater who is verbally abusive...and yet he sits in judgment of the clueless desperate weirdos who come on his show for an hour of pandering horseshit.
DOUCHEBAGS ALL!
I wasn't looking for justification as much as enlightenment. I don't know who some of the douchebags are, and of the ones I do know, I wasn't aware of the particulars of their douchebaggery.
So, when naming a douchebag, assume I don't know what they did to warrant the label and feel free to fill me in.

To be honest, I'm struggling to think of people. I don't really like calling someone a douchebag based on what some gossip rag says or something like that. I'd call the people who borderline-stalk them and make up lies about them to be far douchier :)
I agree. Seems to me it's more douchey to create a thread like this just to slam people who you really don't know or have ever met .....

That was because of the Phil Hartman comments, wasn't it? I know Lovitz (A close friends of Phil's) was livid.
I don't normally pass blame onto "the booze and drugs," but considering how I know Andy Dick was legit distraught back in 1998 when Hartman died, I've found those more recent comments of his to have been seriously "inspired" by drug abuse....

I caught a little bit of that reality show, "Sober House," where Dick showed up and talked about how he wanted to get clean because his son hated him and when he heard his dad was arrested his reaction was basically "let him stay in jail." Maybe substance abuse makes him live up to his surname, instead of that being his nature.

Thanks!

Chuck Norris!
More of a "Yahoo" (as in "a boorish, crass, or stupid person") than a "Douchebag".
Dr. Phil!
The very essence of Doucheyness.
And similarly, I might nominate Tyra Banks. She really comes off as such a know it-all, which is unattractive in anyone, but especially in someone who so obviously DOESN'T know it all. Remember when she strapped on a fatsuit and did a show about how much it "hurt" the way people treated her? And there was some idiot model on Entertainment Tonight who did the same thing. These kind of strike me as douchery in disguise--people acting like they've learned some great moral lesson, when in fact its just been a vehicle to make themselves look morally superior on TV.
Bill O'Reilly. Now there's a douchebag.
Hey, Conan had some nominees in a segment late last year: http://www.nbc.com/Late_Night_with_Conan_O%27Brien/video/clips/more-celebrity-douche-bag-supercollider-92208/689211/

Tyra Banks wants to be Oprah so badly, it's sad.
Balthazar Getty- openly cheated on his wife (and 4 or 5 kids) with Sienna Miller, who ain't even all that.
Brangelina- my wife and I watch all the red carpets for the award shows, because we are losers like that. Whenever these poor schlubs on these entertainment shows have to try and talk to them on the red carpet, they just seem like they could care less and are upset they have to deign to talk to them. Not that Lisa Rinna or Seacrest are major players or anything, but why even walk the red carpet then? Apparently you can just slip in the back to get to these shows.

Aren’t most directors douchebags? I was under the impression that that was the only way to survive at that level in Hollywood. I mean, I love most of Quentin Tarantino’s movies but he comes across as a real jerk in most interviews.
Plus I’m not sure that most of them count as celebrities. I don’t think most people would recognize Michael Bay on the street. Heck, outside of us comic fans, I doubt most people would recognize Kevin Smith.

Sure, I see where giving examples could help. My best friend knows the owners of a local coffeehouse & vegetarian cafe. She told me about the time Ben Affleck hung around Savannah and made an ass of himself at this cafe. Basically, Ben acted like a pretentious twat, terrorizing the staff (and owners) with the whole "Don't You Know Who I Am" card. I wish I could've been there at the time so I could've replied, "Yeah, you're Ben Affleck. Thanks for giving me the biggest belly-laugh of my life with the suckfest of GoodWill Hunting's 'therapeutic breakthrough' scene!"
Danny Glover--I've heard more than one horror story about him. A good friend dated a border guard who'd once worked at a well-known airport post 9/11. Danny Glover came through her line while she was doing routine security checks for all boarding passengers. Well, Danny apparently took umbrage at "Jeannette" doing her job. He also pulled out the DYKWIA" card, and proceeded to bellow at "Jeannette", who's all of a whopping 5'4". Apparently, Mr. Glover has a nasty reputation for being a dick with an excessive sense of entitlement.

Rupert Murdoch, the Prince of Darkness.
Should also note, some douchbaggery is attributed to celebrities that's more their handlers' fault. Barbara Walters, for example, is often saddled with VIEW producer Bill Geddie's far-right-wing, manipulative douchery. (Plus, Walter is so old, I'm half-convinced she barely knows where she is half the time.)
Should also also note, some douchbaggery is misreported and/or manipulated. Rosie O'Donnell, for example, was often a victim of the 'Fan: "Ugly bitch, ugly filthy fat pig bitch, why don't you get AIDS and die, ugly bitch, your kids should be shot, etc. etc." Rosie: "Screw off." Fan: 'OMG! DID YOU HEAR HOW RUDE SHE WAS TO ME!!!"' trick.
