Just saw the teaser for Mass Effect 2, which I must say dropped a rather large bombshell. What are your thoughts? As for me, I'm disapointed but I'm going to wait and see how they handle it before I get upset.

I'll be really disappointed if the Shepard I got to level 60 doesn't carry over to the new game.

I read during a interview on the 2nd disc that comes with the re-release of the 360 version they say you can carry over your old save and character. Course what I just read and havent seen this video yet myself. Just hope that it counts for pc version also (if they put one out).

Well, once you watch the trailer it cats serious doubt on carrying over your character...

They announced a while ago that you'd be able to carry over saves from the first game.

Besides, you actually think he is dead? Come on, Ive seen that old trick used in commercials for games and movies and such for decades "Oh the hero is dead what will happen next?". Besides when you see commander shepards uniform it has a damn robot head on it so its not even him, its called getting peoples attention. Look at all the movie trailers that open with the world being blown up and everyone dying but in the actual movie the world isnt blow up and everyone lives, come on.

That trailer is awesome! I hope I don't have to wait too long for the PC version. I won't be able to stand the wait. Hopefully my PC save will also carry over to the new game.

Shepard is presumed dead. It doesn't mean he is. Maybe he had an accident, and everyone thought he died. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this.

I'm thinking that he will be presumed dead, in the game. So, while everyone thinks he's dead, he'll be doing his universe-saving missions behind curtains.

I absolutely agree with this.

But, a question that I have had since I've read you could carry Shepard over to Mass Effect 2 was wouldn't he be too powerful? I'll admit I haven't played many games where you could carry your character over - but it just doesn't seem to make much sense.

All of that said, you just can't kill Shepard - it wouldn't be the same!

Mass Effect had trailers too and very few of them reflected the content in the game. One of these trailers made it way into Mass Effect and we saw scenes and plotlines that weren't in the game like the fact that Noveria was suppose to be an explorable planet with its own storyline or that there was a separate plot line where the universe was going mad. I woudn't put too much faith in the trailer one way or the other.

Well, either they level up the enemies or the only thing they carry over are the abilities and stuff, but starting from zero. That, and I'm pretty sure that new abilities will be made available.

I'm guessing that carrying over your character would just take your looks, class and story decisions from the first game.

They announced a while ago that you'd be able to carry over saves from the first game. That could just mean the state of the game world given the choices you made, rather than the character. The Council being alive or dead, that sort of thing.

You can bring your character over in Penny Arcade:On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 2 and they did the level up the enemies approach. Your weapons all reset though, so you're not as powerful as you are at the end of Episode 1.

Now, teaser trailers are all well and good for getting people pumped, but is there even an inkling of a date attached to Mass Effect 2?

Did Bioware ever actually confirm that you would be playing as Shepard in the later sequels? I've heard a lot of people talk about it but never anything "official." Yes, I know they said savegame info would in fact carry over in some fashion, but that could be more "state of the galaxy" type stuff.

More importantly, have they confirmed you'd play as Shepard any time after they got bought out by EA?

Now, it's entirely possible this is just a "fake out" and forms the basis for why Shepard is (probably) running around with a whole new gang of buddies. Maybe he's amnesiac or something.

But it also strikes me as possible that they pull a Metal Gear Solid 2 and set you up as the second human Spectre running around trying to deal with the fallout of Shepard's "death." Thus sidestepping the whole "Why was I 60th level before and now I'm starting over at level 1?" conundrum.

It has been confirmed that the same team that worked on Mass Effect will be working on Mass Effect 2.[5] Bioware senior manager Matt Atwood mentioned a Windows version of Mass Effect 2 was "likely".[6] EA CEO John Riccitiello confirmed during a conference call with investors that Mass Effect 2 would be available on "multiple platforms", however further details were not made available. He also confirmed that the game will release in fiscal fourth quarter between January and March 2010.[7] A teaser trailer was released on the 20th of February, 2009.[8]

Kotor 2 was unfinished because Lucas Arts rushed the game out months before it was scheduled to be released to meet the Christmas demand. Then they refused to let the developers work on a "content patch". Despite all that though I really love what Obsidian did with Kotor 2 and it's well worth the twenty bucks it's going for today.

I'm pretty sure what the trailer was meant to do was get me starting to think and talk about Mass Effect 2, and not much more. And damn, effective.

Did DRM wreck the first Mass Effect port? I hated how clunky the controls were compared to the Xbox version but other than using the internet to install the game I don't recall DRM being an issue.

I'm assuming the Geth. And thus i would also assume that the geth shown wearing the allience armor was really his half human half geth son.

Actually, I think that's just the perspective of the shot...the Geth is standing behind Shepard's "body" in a way that gives the illusion of his head being on Shepard's body.

I'm holding out for a romanceable Elcor party member.

*Said in droning monotone* - "Impassioned Plea: Oh baby take me now."

I can also imagine say, Wrex's reaction to a female Shepard coming on to him....not unlike Zira towards Taylor in the original Planet of the Apes:

"You're just so damn ugly...."

Maybe this time Bioware won't puss out on the male-male looking race romance.

Although doubtful. Apart from commercial reasons, in the PC version of ME, there was a hack so you could get Female Shep and Ash to hook up. Thing being, that means they had Female Shep record the necessary lines of dialogue, which means it was intentional. I guess it is possible that they had both Sheps record all lines, and that it's just impossible to unlock a Male Shep/Kaiden pairing because even the shorter sex scenes have the bit where the female body climbs over a unisex form, and therefor wouldn't work as a hack, but it seems unlikely.

I saw at gamespot that, “Shepard” is dead. I do not know where the story will go now.

We will have to wait for quite some time for his game as I saw that, this game will be released in the first few months of the year 2010.

After the s*** storm their lesbian romance kicked up, I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Eh, there was something of a storm. At least partial showers. That said, I don't believe they hurt sales any. If anything, probably helped them.

Although Rockstar has to be pissed that Stubbs' schlong in The Lost and Damned didn't cause that much of a stir.

Yeah, actually. There's another one coming out at some point soon that's like a gladiator arena, so that's kind of crappy.
