Hell yeah!!
I've been waiting for Mr X's return after his awesome appearances in Wolverine a few years back. I was hoping he'd make a comeback and not be forgotten after the "Bloodsport" storyline.
He's too good of a character, IMO, to be left out in the rain for too long, and it's good to see he's not limited to Wolverine stories.
So in order for Mr X to work with Norman and his death squad, Mr X has laid out a challenge for the T-Bolts: Defeat him in combat and he'll sign on as a T-Bolt!!
Friggin sweet!!
I'm interested to see who of the T-Bolts could last against him in one on one combat.
Paladin, with his superhuman levels of strength and speed, plus his mercenary skills?
Black Widow, with her uber-spy training?
Ghost, with his intangibility and his electrical discharges?
Ant-Man, with his size changing powers?
Headhunter, whose namesake was completely owned by X during Bloodsport?
Or the unrevealed Hockey-mask guy, whose powers and skills are yet to be revealed?
Who among them has a chance against one of the planets greatest fighters?

Honestly, I don't know, because Mr. X is a dirty cheater lol. If he wasn't using his powers, a few of them might have a chance, but with his powers, the only two in the MU that I think are capable of defeating him (outside of uber characters like Thor and the Sentry...people that he couldn't do any damage to) are Wolverine, and Deadpool, because Deadpool's so unpredictable that Mr. X probably couldn't read his mind.

I dunno about that. Black Widow should have anti-telepathy training and Paladin would be too tough for Mr. X to defeat in a straight up battle. Really depends on how the fight circumstances, because Nuke could easily overpower him, dunno about Headsman and Ghost would be untouchable.

Wolverine has level 10 psi blocks installed by Professor X, and Mr. X could still read his mind up until the point where Wolverine went purely on instinct and rage. Even without the telepathy, I'd still say that X is a better fighter than anyone on this team. he literally sought after the best fighter in the entire world, trained under them, and killed them. And didn't Paladin used to get his but kicked by Silver Sable? He's got a manner of super strength, and he's a good fighter, but that's not going to make a difference if you can lay a hand on the guy because he's reading your mind, so he's 5 steps ahead of you. And that goes for everyone on the team. Ghost is untouchable, sure, but he has to make himself tangible in order to do any damage, in which case the mind-reading X could damage him.

I imagine Osborne would find a way to cheat just as badly as X does.

for me, that's not even the story. we know that Mr X joins Osborn's hitsquad. so either one of the t-bolts defeats him or X just decides that being one of the T-bolts satisfies his bloodlust. the real mystery is which Thunderbolt has a "deadly secret" that could doom them all. i think it's either Black Widow or Ant-Man. Eric lied on his SHIELD resume. maybe he made himself out to be more of a competent fighter than he really is. or maybe it's something from Yelena's past. i'm sure that she has quite a few people gunning for her. back to who could beat Mister X. his big advantage is telepathy. psi blocking tech probably goes for cheap on the black market nowadays. but, if i were to go w/ my gut, i'd say that Nuke beats the ever living **** out of him. why? because he doesn't have a mind to read. he's completely out of touch with reality. his aggression and actions are directed from afar. Mister X might give him a good fight but it's still going to be like all of his "losses" to Wolverine. someone's going to give Nuke a "red" and it's all over.

guy's name is Headsman; not Headhunter. there's no way that Eric O'Grady is going to risk getting murdered by Mister X. he'd run first or try to take him down by attacking his ear drum or something. Yelena would do alright hand-to-hand and maybe survive via super-adaptoid powers (speculatively). but Mister X would still leave her unconscious. Headsman would get beaten with his own power axe. Paladin would go down pretty easy. Ghost wouldn't be able to get a hand on him. Hockey Mask for the win.

Pretty excited that Mr. X is joining the Thunderbolts. Like Hulksmash, Mr. X was one of my favorite/hated characters during Tieri's run on Wolverine and I even have the TPB featuring all of his appearances during the series. Now, I say Mr. X is one of my favorite/hated characters b/c though he's awesome in terms of fighting (there aren't many hand to hand fighters in the MU who could school Taskmaster), his origin was way, WAY disturbing, depicted in graphic detail by Sean Chen. The part that got to me about Mr. X's story wasn't the infamous "puppy in the oven" scene, but rather him experiencing his first taste of death by watching that woman pedesterian die. Seriously, after reading that, I wasn't able to sleep well for a couple of weeks. Thunderbolts have to be some seriously eff'ed up mofos if they're willing to accept X on the team.

Wait... what?!?
That's totally out of left field. Not in a bad way. Norman better be smart enough to keep him away from his Dark Avengers team. I remember those old Book of the Dead issues of the Handbook to the Marvel Universe. Scourge was responsible for half the entries in it. And unlike so many other deaths when Scourge kills you, you tend to stay dead.

Wait, Scourge? But the solicits had a guy in the background with a flag tattoo on his face right?

A new Scourge, huh? Interesting. I wonder if it will be a known character or just a completely new one. Might be interesting if it's somehow Nomad resurrected again- if only because I'd like to see Jack Monroe back in the MU.

ok. so can anyone tell me WTF Nuke is doing on the cover? there have been a couple Scourges of the underworld. i wonder which one this was. i wonder if Nuke could have been one of the scourges. or if this is an existing character who just recently took on the Scourge identity. his face appears to be effed up pretty bad. still a cool look.

I found a good picture and bio of Scourge of the underworld.
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/marveldatabase/images/e/e6/Scourge_001.jpg#20050621053624
The Scourge of the underworld was a master of disguise, and often used latex masks, body padding, and costumes to disguise himself as ordinary people of all ages, races, and walks of life, both male and female. His acting abilities were commensurate with his disguise skills. The Scourge was also a decent marksman. From what is now known about the Scourges as an organization, we can also presume that he was trained by Bloodstain, and thus had some ability in hand-to-hand combat.
Equipment: Scourge employed a wide array of disguise in his career as a vigilante. Often these disguised would involve body padding, latex masks, and costumes.
Weapons: Generally the Scourge use relatively ordinary pistols, submachine guns, and other arms. One at least one occasion he was shown to used a more sophisticated blaster pistol.

it's confusing because the pic they are using of Scourge has the wrong build for it being Nuke. i could definately understand why they'd use someone like Nuke to carry about the assassination missions, though. i guess i'll just have to play wait and see. good to know that i was wrong about it being Foolkiller though the motives would be similar. i wonder how Norman comes to recruit this guy. the team is currently made up of an insanely wealthy serial killer, a faceless vigilante/assassin, a morally ambiguous soldier of fortune, an unemployed and recently presumed dead spy, a weapon-testing hitman, an paranoid industrial saboteur, and a ne'er-do-well initiative graduate. this is certainly a motley crew. i imagine there won't be many scenes of these folks hanging out inbetween missions.
