Over at Novaprimepage, Doug has posted the solicitation for Nova #25. "The new Corps is decimated and Richard has to wrest control from the Worldmind!"

http://www.novaprimepage.com/news.asp

So, I'm suspecting Richard is wresting the power from the Worldmind
while he is a Nova Centurion, as opposed to being Quava or Novar. Only
a Nova can hold the Nova Force (well it probably still in his
biomatrix).

Awesome! The Worldmind seems to be the cause of the Centurions always
being decimated. The Worldmind is the one constant. Well, the other
constant is the Nova Force being so diluted because of too many Novas.
That spark which is parcelled out is too little power to get the job
done.

And YEAH, issue #25!!! It better not be the last.

As good as the serie has been up to now, I hope they push it to at least a hundred issues!

I'm glad they adress the "Rich Rider having no powers" thing quickly because frankly, I was afraid they'd go with a nova corps story arc and leave Rich on the side for a while.

Has there been talk of ending the series?

I almost think the Nova Corps should just give up being a police force and just be a superhero team or something (not that I think it would be a good book, I'm just thinking about what they should do in story terms).

It's obvious that the corps is too weak if there are a lot of them. But really, you can't have a galactic police force with only a small handful of guys.

The Corps at it's present size probably couldn't maintain order on earth, let alone the rest of the universe and it's already too weak and about to get decimated. Unless they can figure out a way to create more Nova's without making them so weak, the whole thing is really just one big failure after the next. The Corps getting blown up is a running joke at this point.

To be a better book Nova needs a constant, present threat and before the Nova corps are fully reformed those threats better be not just 1 or 2 guys.

Ergo, to sustain an equivalent of a "GLC" there must exist a real "Sinestro corps". I hope this Worldmind internal conflict is a filler because to move on Nova needs arch enemies. Heck all Marvel comic books desperately need new bloods in the villain ranks.

I'm hoping it's the Imperial Guard that decimates the Nova Corps, which leads into Richard getting back the full Nova-Force from Worldmind and going to town on the Imperial Guard, leading into the slugfest of the year....Nova vs Gladiator!!!

That will be a good test to see just how powerful Nova is.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm still not exactly sure how powerful Nova is. Being able to duke it out with Gladiator puts him squarely in the classic Thor/Hulk range.

XPac - I'd lke to point out that Nova and Gladiator have battled previously - in Nova's first issue of his second series by Nizeca and Chris Marrian (Circa 1994). On that occasion Nova won but only by the narrowest of margins - back then he had slightly upstandard Centurion level powers so in theory if Rich got over his phobia of not fully utilizing the Nova Force in its entirity he'd deal with Gladiator easily....

Gladiator is known for jobbing to the entire Marvel Universe, so Nova would win easily.

Let me rephrase.,.. I'd like to see how well he does against a GOOD showing by Gladiator.

Gladiator is a guy with Classic Thor level strength, classic Quicksilver level speed, and a good amount of skill. When written properly, he's a beast and a good test for upper tier heroes.

Unfortunately, he's somewhat watered down by poor showings.

When written properly, Gladiator is above Thor-level in terms of strength, speed and durability, and is a pretty decent match for Silver Surfer in a one on one battle.

As shown in Nova #13-14, Surfer is waaaay out of Nova's league.

It would still be an awesome fight, nonetheless.

Pretty much only Black Bolt is capable of giving Gladiator a serious challenge in WOK, and that's mainly due to BB's scream. Gladiator outclasses BB in every other department.

If written properly, Gladiator would stomp any and all resistance from anyone not on the Shi'ar's side in this war.

But apparently he's going to job to Lilandra, of all people, cause DnA feels she needs to have a moment in the "spotlight" and show that she's a capable fighter in her own right.

Friggin blasphemy, if you ask me.

DnA is having Gladiator job to Lilandra? I'll obviously have to read the final story before passing final judgement... but at least on paper thats a pretty hack move.

If Gladiator has a 'secret weakness', Lilandra is a pretty good candidate to know what it is. Otherwise, no way without help.

Gladiator's power fluctuates by a lot, so there's a number of people who can potentially beat him. Most recently he's been roughly a draw vs Marvel Girl (whose power level fluctuates even more than Gladiator's, so this tells us almost nothing about how powerful he is at the moment).

I do think if anyone could make him doubt himself, it'd be Lilandra.
