I'm not sure what this (http://toyfair09.figures.com/showfull.php?photo=1407) is all about. But it looks like big, old 18" Hellboy (http://toyfair09.figures.com/showfull.php?photo=1406) will finally get somebody his own size to play with...the 18" Abe (http://toyfair09.figures.com/showfull.php?photo=1403)! I personally am not super impressed with the sculpt on this one; for 18" he could have a bit more detail, plus the hand looks too fat.

And then there are these guys. (http://toyfair09.figures.com/showfull.php?photo=1409) I don't know what there deal is, they're called BPRD Buddies, but they are kinda, dare I say, cute. (http://toyfair09.figures.com/showfull.php?photo=1408)

The article, brief as it is, lies here. (http://www.figures.com/databases/action.cgi?setup_file=fignews2.setup&category=actionfigures&topic=126&show_article=369&nl=1)

I was kind of interested in the BPRD Buddies when the first image was posted awhile ago, but looking at these, I am rather disappointed in them, particularly the paint jobs. After the lousy paint jobs on the HBII figures (particularly series 1), I am seriously wondering what is going on in Mezco's factory.

I'm really disappointed with the pics I've seen from Toyfair. Really wish some more comic figures would get made

Wow those 18" figures are bad. The Hellboy one isn't too bad, just his face looks too old or something. Abe's hands are just terrible, and as you said his face is a little bland for being so big.

Hehehe, those Buddies things remind me of the Star Wars Galactic Heroes. Those HB ones are pretty sweet, but Hellboy himself just looks fat. :S

I really wish we could get some more comic figures, too. I prefer them much more than the film ones.

Well, with the economy the way it is, most companies began cutting costs of production, one example of this switching factories, some of which have a different paint standard than others. There was a time period last summer where many of the high end collectibles suffered from the same problems. The paint jobs on series 2 were far better.

I'm going to Toy Fair on Wednesday. If I see anything interesting I'll take some pictures and post them here or at my blog.

Cheers

The 18" ones kind of scare me. I don't know, they just look a bit weird.. and freaky. The little ones are cute, but I wouldn't buy them. Maybe for hardcore collectors, but not me

The paint jobs on series 2 were far better.

My series 2 figures are still sitting in the shipping carton. I picked them up before Xmas and still need to rearrange some stuff in the HB guest bedroom before displaying them.

I did think that the paint job on the 3.75" figures was really good. They are probably my favorite of all the HBII figures that got released, followed by the Golden Army bust with the DVD set.
