World War Hulk #1.
Though to be fair, Hulk is stronger than ever there.

Yeah, plus the Hulk had Pak on his side before they Marvel edited the heck out of it and Loeb came to do his "fun" stories with a "mysterious" Red Hulk.

In a normal hulk vs. normal iron man, I'm inclined to say hulk winning. Thats why iron man has the hulkbuster armor and all that good stuff in case that fight has to happen. When Hulk approaches Worldbreaker levels, no one can stop him. Not even Hulkbuster Iron Man.
So basically, Hulk.

Iron Man has beaten the Hulk by himself in Iron Man vol.1 #131-#132. It was a legit win.

Hulk winning 80/20
If there's consolation price for your friend Iron Man gets all the fun though. He has more friends, better internet connection, babes, cars, robot servants. He can win Jeopardy championship & don't have to be seen half-naked most of the times.

Most of the time it's the Hulk taking on all the Avengers at once and not IM alone. WWH #1 is a good one, Tony's in his latest "Hulkbuster" suit which is the size of a tank.
Some fights with IM in them: #316/321/322/WWH#1

He did beat Hulk ONCE. And in his classic red and gold... no Hulkbuster armor or anything (not that the "buster" armor ever works).
That said, I think that was a fluke. No offense to Iron Man, but Hulk on paper should be too much for him in a straight fight. I don't think he has a single thing in that suit of armor that can put Hulk down.

Well, the Hulk is supposed to be the strongest. I really think he should almost always be in the top 5 list of strongest characters, even in normal, savage form. Guys like Black Bolt and the Sentry are a bit more omnipotent, and it takes Green Scar to actually bring them down.
Iron Man really should never be in a Top 5 in pure power. I see him a bit more like Reed Richards. Sure, he isn't unstoppable. But hes smart enough to avoid a straight fight and think outside the box. He the middle ground between academic/smart guy hero and power hero. And he does both pretty well.

Iron Man is:
- Power hero (D&D equivalent: Warrior)
- Smart deus ex-machina guy (Mage)
- Long range firepower dude (Ranger)
- Cunning bastard that stab your back. (Thief)
That's like having 1 team in 1 person.

That one man D&D team, got his ass handed to him by the Thunder God not too long ago.
I'll stick with the true warrior with the BFH, and Ruin magic

I can't remember the specific issue, but it's one of my favourite issues of "savage, dumb Hulk" (I'm pretty sure it's just before PADs classic run). Basically, Hulk's on a rampage and the two Avengers teams each send their two most powerful members to try and stop him. Avengers send Namor and Herc, and West Coast Avengers send Iron Man and Wonder Man.
And Hulk beats the snot out of them all. At one point, while Hulk is stamping his head into the ground, Wonder Man says something like "I wonder what the poor people are doing for fun this time of year."

But Thunder God is too dumb he killed his own grandpa with his +5 enchanted hammer. That's what you get when you only put 4 pt in INT.
At least one man D & D team doesn't have any stats below 6, except when he's drunk then his WIS goes to 2.

He never neet his grandfather until that day.
And if Tony was such a genius, Then how come Five people has turned his tech agiant him and the world in the last 2 yrs.
1. That dorcor's kid just before CW
2.Ultron
3. Cho
4. Ezekiel Stane
5. The Skrulls

(Psst... D&D speak plz)
If Thunder God has INT > 5 his line of conversation would now include "Hello fellow Asgardian, who are you?" or "Are you looking for someone, lost one?".
Though he's still much better than INT 2 Hulk "Whaaa...", "Grrr...", or "Hulk smash".

There have been some great battles between Hulk and Shell-head throughout the years.....even from their first encounter back in Avengers #1.
I've always considered this to be one of the lesser explored confrontations in the Marvel U. which is a shame because they're such terrific characters that represent such different themes.
In Iron Man you have Tony Stark, a man who is trying to establish order and dispel chaos in everything he does, in the world of high finance, in super-heroing, even in battling his addiction to sweet, sweet hooch.
At the other end of the spectrum you have the Hulk who is chaos incarnate, tearing down every accomplishment humankind can build up.
With Stark you have a man who has spent his entire life building.....his wealth, his properties, his inventions, his armor.....in the Hulk you have a character who spends his entire life lashing out and tearing down everything we've spent so long trying to build up.
It's a great combo. I would hope that at some point down the road once the Dark Reign/Rulk storylines have come to a close we can get a crossover between the two books that will give us an awesome fight and the chance to further explore these two characters in depth.

They're both good characters, but I think you're reaching for some intrinsic dynamic that doesn't exist.
Hulk wins. (but Iron Man is cooler)

Just looking back though we have some pretty classic confrontations from Marvel that are pretty standard:
Hulk vs. Thor
Hulk vs. Thing
Hulk vs. Wolverine
Namor vs. Hulk
stuff that we've seen dozens of times before.....but what intrigues me are the fights that we don't really get to see that often, like Thor vs. Thing or Iron Man vs. Hulk.
I just find those kinds of battles interesting because we don't really see them portrayed as often as we do with the standard Hulk/Thing or Thor/Hulk fights.
Hulk wins. (but Iron Man is cooler)
This is true, lol. It's also quite telling that we've never seen a 'Namor-Buster' armor. To fight the Hulk Tony had to go back to the drawing board.

I don't think it was dumb for Thor to kill his grandpa if his grandpa was trying to kill him.

The age-old rule of "Who wins?" is pretty much "Whose book is it happening in?"
I don't think it was dumb for Thor to kill his grandpa if his grandpa was trying to kill him.
And he didn't even know that it was his Gramps.

Well if his line of thinking is more varied than just calling the Avengers (miss the show? now do you miss Tony Stark's Tivo)and using brute force, he would try to talk it out first or wait for Asgardian to manhandle this lost dude.
Anyway this is Hulk vs IM talk, and I said that in jest. Who brought up the INT 5 Thunder God? Not me.
Hulk has seemingly infinite power. Iron Man can shoot satellites at Hulk all day long, in the end, Hulk strongest there is.

As long as Hulk doesn't go smart like Green Scar/Emperor Hulk, Tony can bait Hulk into a rocket filled with Betty Ross pictures and off he goes again.

If you want to talk about past fights between the two or compare strength levels, that's all right. If you want to argue about who would win in a fight, though, please take it to the Rumbles forum.
