Brubaker is delivering on DD now but I'm more inclined to Bendis. But that's because I started DD with his run, and there was a lot more excitement during his run.

I think if you search you'll find another thread/poll like this from a few months back or so.
I vote Bendis. I just feel like it was a little more intense; Brubaker's run, with the exception of the first arc (Devil in Cell Block D) has been more low-key, a little more hit or miss.
In fairness, it's also possible the amazing Alex Maleev made a difference. Nothing against Lark, but Maleev's a favorite of mine.

I agree with you. Brubaker's run has been solid but Bendis' run was more intense and took us in unexpected directions throughout his run. Brubaker's writing is good but some of the plots aren't really that strong.

Brubakers run has been really good but when Bendis was writing DD it was a must read title nearly every month, the same can't be said since bru took over.

Brubaker hands down. For one thing, he's making Matt's job as a lawyer feel like it actually matters to the character, it's not decompressed beyond belief, and his stories all feel more inventive then Bendis's. Not a slight against Bendis, but I just never got into his Daredevil.

I agree. Brubaker's run has been awesome. The Vanessa Fisk encounter at the end of the first arc was one of the most bone chilling moments I've read in a comic.

Man, Brubaker's been good and he's probably got a lot more in him, but there aren't many comics at all that I put on the level of the complete Bendis run. I got issues #26 and #82 at the same time and continued both from there, so it's not nostalgia or anything.
Those 50 or so issues just managed to keep an intense story going, with some of the coolest character work and art I can think of when it comes to comics. I don't factor in decompression same way I don't factor in delays.

Brubaker has been fantastic, but Bendis in Daredevil was simply brilliant. I'd rate his run even higher than Miller's.

I'll probably get slammed for this, but Bendis' run on the title bored me more often than it entertained. I'm not sure why, and I should probably go back and read the issues back-to-back, as I've heard his work on the title reads better in trade, but as it was coming out there are very few issues I can vividly remember enjoying.
On the other hand, and for whatever reason, Brubaker's done a better job of keeping me interested and engaged in the title from month to month than Bendis ever did. As someone who still collects comics over trades, that's what's most important to me.

Bendis by a decent margin, though I do enjoy Bru's DD.

Nothing against Ed's Daredevil since it's usually solid as a rock and at times becomes great but I liked Bendis's DD since it felt edgier and more unpredictable as well as having some great character moments and Maleev art.

Bendis, mainly because his run had a definitive ending.
Bru's run is still going, so my answer might change once it wraps up.

Brubaker and Lark's DAREDEVIL is, from a technical standpoint, a superior comic. Brubaker paces things a lot better and doesn't have Bendis's dialogue tics. And Lark is better at conveying action and movement than Maleev. It's almost the platonic ideal of a street-level Marvel superhero comic. But Bendis and Maleev's DAREDEVIL was still better. For all their flaws as storytellers, there was a fantastic energy to it. There was nothing else like it on the stands. Even when it failed, it did so interestingly.
Brubaker and Lark's "Devil in Cell Block D" came close, but since . . . like I said, it's technically great and I buy and enjoy it every month. But if it were canceled tomorrow, I don't think I'd really mind.

I seem to be with the majority here, thinking that Bendis' run was better. Brubaker started off strong with the prison story, but hasn't seemed all that essential since.

Brubaker and co are better.
Bendis there was too many twist, soap opera like things happening. DD becoming the Kingpin and the hole media,DD being outed took too much over the actual storytelling.
Brubaker writes better story after story.
I went with Bendis. While I love what Brubaker has done since Devil in Cell Block D, nothing can match the stories that followed the 'outing' of Matt Murdock. Bendis made DD relevant again; Bru has admirably carried the torch.
