Hi -

I have a near mint copy of Mignola's GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT (1st print) and it's cover (or pages, depending on how you look at it) are bound upside down.

Anyone else come across something similar?

No way! The "Inverted Jenny" stamp sells for over $500,000. You need to slab that thing then get it on eBay ASAP.

Hey DonC - thanks for the reply. I haven't found any mention of any other of it's kind since I bought it. i even went back to my comic book shop and asked the owner - he wasn't impressed, or let on that he wasn't. So I've never quite known the value.

How do I "slab" it?

Thanks

did i get it wrong, or does slabbing a comic render it unreadable? sealed, preserved, etc.?

from a protectionist point of view i can totally understand - but what makes this one rare is the fact that the insides are upside down, so it'd be better to actually be able to display it as such.

It does prevent it from being read.

Also, I'm pretty sure DonC was being sarcastic. Comic book misprints usually aren't worth anything more than their regular counterparts. I would be that, a lot of the time, they're worth less.

Just read your comic. Enjoy it.

Aaron is absolutely correct.

Comics are worth what you can get someone to pay for them, so put on your salesman hat and give it a go. I've never heard of someone paying more for a misprinted comic, usually thats more of an undesireable flaw, imho. '

Coin collecting, on the other hand...different story. If you see a coin that looks like it has a double image on it, save it and protect it immediately. Erm...I meant to say mail it to me!
