IGN have revealed new covers for the BFTC tie ins as well as some blurbs.

http://uk.comics.ign.com/articles/954/954284p1.html

I'm glad to see that the Black Mask will be coming back in BFTC - He shouldn't have been away in the first place! Arkham gets destroyed during it all and the Batman with the guns is definitely Jason Todd! From the picture my guess is that the Riddler will turn evil again. Why do I always spoil it for myself :)

Who is the fly looking villain btw?

Ummm... While I agree that Black Mask was too good a character to lose, it'll be really interesting to see how the guy can bounce back from getting shot in the face Catwoman; -- in the semi-realistic Batverse, no less.

The covers look awesome though. I sooo hope the covers for BftC #1-3 will be made available as a panorama poster. Sound likely?

Network #1 looks really interesting with Fabian writing and Don Kramer on art. The cover is terrible though! Maybe Fabian and Kramer will be the creative team on Gotham City Streets as it does look that book may spur out of the events of this one shot.

I believe Firefly

Yeah I hope all the covers merge into one like the Gotham Underground ones did. I reckon there will be a big panoramic advertisement in the comics at some time.

I thought it was firefly too but didn't he get killed off a few years back in that OMAC project thing?

Well, Black Mask got shot in the face at point-blank range and then fell off a high-rise building into the street below. His cracked skull would later show up on a detective's desk. If he can come back from that, Firefly should have a field-day coming back from an OMAC-induced death.

In all seriousness: As far as Black Mask as concerned, I'm almost 90% sure it'll be a new one (or we'll find out that the one who briefly ruled Gotham's underworld post-War Games was an imposter). There's simply no non-magical way to bring him back in any other way. Besides, we were told an old villain would return, but "kinda new". I bet this was a refernce to Mask.

Possibly to do away with Selina's killer rap?

the Batman with the guns is definitely Jason Todd!

Isn't that also the same guy who was in the promo picture?

I had the same thought.

If so, it appears from the cover that the Batgirl in this title at least is Cassie.

Yes that's Cass on the Cover of Network#1 and so I believe she's the Batgirl in Streets of Gotham. Also Fabian mentioned on the DC board that ORACLE is also in Network #1. So we know Batgirl, Huntress, and Oracle will be starring in Network #1.

The starring character in Batgirl #1I believe is Babs. But I'm wondering if the title of that series is just a ploy and in fact it doesn't star Babs as Batgirl but Oracle since we also know BOP is there. I know it would be a little cruel on DC's part but everything leading up to Batgirl #1 suggest Babs is STILL Oracle.

Here we go. Pieced together from artwork available online IGN et all.

I apologize if the images are to big, I can edit them down if people ask for it, didn't really think about it till I previewed the post.

I like how you can see the slight changes that went from it being sketched and drawn up to the final colored version. Little things like clouds & cape positions that would have tied pieces together a bit more removed. And even a full character taken out, Black Canary.

All told a great piece of artwork.

Network appears to be a last minute addition; it isn't on any of the checklists.

Is the armored Batman Owlman? Who are the two girls on the Robin cover? This looks cool.

No, the armored Batman is Jason Todd, Owlman is in the Outsiders book with Alfred. The two girls above Robin are Batgirl and Spoiler, and below are Lynx and Squire, AKA Beryl Hutchinson, and Robin is standing next to her partner, the Knight, AKA Cyril Sheldrake. They are the British answer to the Dynamic Duo from the Club of Heroes, or the Batmen of All Nations.

Killing Black Mask always irked me. He was a great gangster like Bat-villain who was the only good thing about Winnick days.

To kill him in Catwoman felt slightly offending when he was a Bat-villain.

I can only hope he is as interesting as before and used well.

I can't imagine they'll do away with Catwoman shooting Black Mask in the face, since Catwoman was a fairly acclaimed series, even after Brubaker left it.

More than likely we'll just have a "Black Mask II", a new person stepping into the name, because using the name is a way to establish a reputation, instill fear, etc ... call it a cop-out, but hey, this is Battle for the Cowl, and the EXACT same thing is happening with Batman and the eventual "Batman II".

Still, picking that name is a sure-fire way to get the attention of your various Catwomen and Spoilers.

Just on a slight side note ... how long is it going to take before Killer Croc gets evolved back into a humanoid scaly man-beast crime boss? Nobody said he couldn't be a savage "gator in the sewers" style freak and still couldn't be an organized crime boss.

Oh, and Harley's back! I'll be eager to see what Harley's involvement will be since getting dumped by Joker last year (or a "couple months ago" comics time). Considering Ivy is on the cover with her, and both plus Catwoman will be regulars in Gotham City Sirens (which has almost GOT to be written by Dini), I imagine she'll be taking the break-up the same as always - by going on some sort of crime spree with "Red".

No problem. Yeah, she is a gang leader, not a totally evil lady, but not exactly heroic. I am fairly certain she is the second Lynx, both of them were/are martial artists and gang leaders, as well as Robin characters, the first having been killed, and then resurrected by the League of Assassins and then killed again.

Agreed. Kind of hard to bring back Sionis back after Selina was picking bits of skull and brain matter from her hair. I too, think a new Black Mask will be introduced, as Sionis has no powers. Personally I thought he was nothing but a lame version of Cobblepot; just another copycat gangster...one of Moench's weaker creations.

There's tons of B-Bat villains that haven't been used. Just wish some writers with talent would use them and make them better villains.

Still holding off on BTFC until June when the real Bat titles come out.
