Don't know if this thread will go anywhere, but...
I am a huge Wild Arms fan. I think the series has given me the best characters, & stories than any other JRPG. The combat has evolved over the years, and has remained fun. The stories have been progressively better, from 1 to 3 (my favorite)
When it switched mechanics to 4, I was skeptical but it won me over soon.
Anywhoo, how many others out there love the WA series? And how many hate it?
Not playing favorites here. If u love it say why, If you don't tell me why.
I have a bad feeling we have seen the last of Wild Arms, I hope not, but who knows.

Wild Arms games are like Shin Megami games in the since that they are a niche in a niche market. It's not that people hate the games it's just that they have never heard of them. The only difference is that Atlas is smarter about the Shin Megami games with a very limited print run that sells out because it's preceaved to be rare and will go for a fortune on ebay. Whereas Wild Arms have a much larger print run, is never considered rare, and any game on the series can be picked up cheap.

i've played the majority of them, execpt the ones on ps2, which is mostly because I had a chinese bootleg of part 2 and when the save file got corrupted right when I was finishing up the last side quest before going to fight the final leg game I totally gave up.. I was so mad I think I broke the bootleg and swore never to buy a bootleg ever again!

Who owns the Wild Arms series? Is it Sony?

I know Sony owned & produced the first 3 or 4 games. The last one WA5 was developed & produced by XSeed games. I assume Sony still owns the rights tho.
Wild Arms was the second RPG I had ever played (first being Super Mario RPG for the SNES) this game is so nostalgic for me! The music, characters, atmosphere it was a great game and very unique a western themed rpg? Sweet.
I then rented Wild Arms 2 when it was released and didn't like it very much I skipped the 3rd one and bought the 4th one for PS2 and it was very subpar. I haven't played any of them since then and I was hoping to get my hands on the PS2 remake for the very first game, but never found it in stores sadly. :(
Has anyone here played the more recent games? Are they any better? I've read reviews and have heard they were pretty mediocre. =/

I've played them all. The 5th was the same type of combat as 4. The graphics were pretty good. I enjoyed the story & the voice acting was better than average.
If you enjoyed the Western theme of WA1 then I encourage you to get WA3. It's story & and atmosphere has a deep western vibe to it. It also boasts the best story & characters, IMO. Sure the combat is really basic, but if story & characters & puzzle solving are what you look for then WA3 offers that in spades.
Oh yeah the music for WA3 is some of the best music I listened to for any RPG.

As a fan of westerns and RPGs, Wild Arms was a natural favorite of mine, 3 being my favorite. But I jumped ship at 4 and don't expect to be back.
Played the first one, intro was awesome, don't remember anything else about the game.
There was a rat, and a crazy green guy. I think that's it.
