I doubt it... (they would have to change the card back... unless it was like a set-specific ability), but you never know.

Speculation: Why do I get the feeling that they are shaking up the colour pie in Planar Chaos to make room for a new colour in Future Sight?

Because you haven't read enough online arguments about why there will never be a sixth color.

Has there ever been a ruling on whether coat of arms and living plane will combo?

I haven't played a while, though i still have my deck. It's a flying/counter with a few surprises, like 2 Raven Guild Masters.

Lands have no creature type.

I've been pondering getting back into this game for awhile. I played from Unlimited - Mirage.

My local comic shop is has DCI sanctioned tournaments.

The only thing holding me back is that I'll have to invest a lot of money into new cards.

The spoiler list (http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=71473) for Future Sight is coming together, and the official site (http://www.wizards.com/magic/) is doing previews.

As many people have guessed, Future Sight brings us characters and cards that may appear again in later sets. Think of it as a look into a possible future. It also debuts a new card frame which is rather cool-looking, and which is apparently not going to become the new standard card frame.

Notable spoilers so far: There are cards that cost zero to cast, but require you to pay mana on the next turn, just like Rocket-Powered Turbo Slug from Unhinged. There's also a remake of The Cheese Stands Alone. There's a sliver with the poison ability. There's a new version of storm that counts permanents going to the graveyard instead of spells cast. There's a direct damage spell that suspends itself when it resolves, so that it will keep on recurring automatically, which if nothing else is a nice one-card kill for a deck full of counterspells.

Occasionally, something makes me envious of Magic Online players. The idea of drafting with Master's Edition (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/fk51) is one of those things.

It's also kind of funny to look at cards like Forcefield (http://ww2.wizards.com/Gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?name=Forcefield) and Juzam Djinn (http://ww2.wizards.com/Gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?name=Juzam_Djinn) and realize they aren't all that good anymore.

Lorwyn spoilers are appearing. Five planeswalkers, one of each color, and a 5/5 elf that creates deathtouching wolves (http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=55593&d=1187737703).

You beat me to it!

New mechanics so far - "Evoke" lets you pay a cheaper cost for a creature, but it's sacrificed at end of turn. Not the most innovative of mechanics - A little from column A (http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?&id=12418) and a little from column B (http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?&id=23096)... "Champion" makes you remove a creature of a particular type from the game, thematically transforming it into a new creature.

I still haven't heard anything solid about the new planeswalker card type.

Remember those stupid combo decks you were ranting about a year or two ago?

Thanks to Flash, they're back in Type I, AND unrestricted!

Thank God for Leyline of the Void.

I'm getting sick of so many new mechanics.
I want an MtG set without them.

People tended to complain when they didn't put new mechanics in older sets. Of course, they really did put in new mechanics, they just didn't name them every time(see Mercadian Masques (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=magic/products/mmgamefeatures), for example). So now, the policy is that every set introduces new keywords. I agree that they could tone it down at this point.

Damn right. I'm an extremely casual Magic player, and it gets hard to keep up with.

I'm too old school to try to keep up now. My group still hasn't upgraded to the stack and still use LIFO for spell resolution.

I was surprised to hear that Brainstorm is now restricted in Type 1. The argument is that combo decks can frequently win on the strength of seeing three new cards, even if two have to get put back, which I guess makes sense. I don't play in tournaments so I don't have a real opinion on it, but it does justify my love of Brainstorm. My old Ice Age versions are some of the most badly worn cards in my collections.

I think the one casting cost has quite a bit to do with the decision. Getting your choice of one of the next three cards for a single mana can be quite powerful.

Brainstorm and Ponder being axed sure shafted Blue, though, and it leaves Ichorid and Workshop decks unchecked.

We'll see what September brings...

I'm also in the same boat. Well maybe not to that extreme, but the game has been giving newcomers and comebacks a really hard time with all the new mechanics. Last I really kept track of what's happening was Onslaught/Mirrodin block and since then it's more than a handful to take everything in again.

To jump in the ball: Red, black and blue are my three fav. colours. Red's my fav. in terms of colour pie philosophy, and b/u is my most played colour combination. I respect green and white but was never really driven to play them.

My fav. cards are more on the wacky side. I generally like “cards that change controller whenever something specific happens.” (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/jm143b) Cards like classic Old Man of the Sea (http://magiccards.info/an/en/24.html), Starke of Rath (http://magiccards.info/tp/en/205.html) and Witch Engine (http://magiccards.info/us/en/169.html). Not exactly great, but they're fun... sometimes.

I've played some green decks and some white decks.
While I enjoy the strength Green decks can bring to bear I've never felt much affinity for white myself either. My lowest preference is for Blue though while I favor straight black or black/red decks.

I've played green quite a lot before; mana and creature acceleration is just tempting. For white I'm a bit biased since I don't exactly own many or even good white cards while my sibling and friends do so...
