Amazing Spider-Man #600 and a flashback to Peter Parker's unsuccessful wedding to Mary Jane.

Where was this said?

There's speculation that Aunt May will announce her engagement to J Jonah Jameson Sr.The there'd be no death for Aunt May. After her supposed death in 196, her revival in 200, her supposed death in 400 I thought they might make the trend of getting rid of her once every 200 issues of Amazing Spider-Man. Except if you count the case of her being shot which led to BiB an almost death scene......

Failed Marriage? What happened to the fact that in the end of 545 Peter told Flash he was about to make the mistake of marrying M.J after a long time of living together?????

Perhaps he figured it was a mistake to marry her during the ceremony and broke it off there? That would count as a failed wedding I'd guess.

Thanks for laying this all out Mets.....yeah, lots of cool stories lined up and it seems that they will not let up after #600 either! Must say that everyone associated with ASM that I saw yesterday at NY Comic Con (both on panels and some quick conversations I had face to face afterwards) were totally jazzed about the upcoming stories; the cynics will say "sure, they're toeing the company line" but these guys' faces lit up talking about their work and the plans in store for Spidey this year and, based on what we already know, I can see why!

last i heard we had a speculation that the wedding day may be explained, we also had speculation that 600 was going to explain the break up.... I was sure they flat out told us that was not the case now.... but im all for knowing if they want to tell the story....

That being said we have a confirmed wedding happening. Id figure May or Harry.

it said failed wedding, not marriage. I think it means the actual act of getting married, ie they set a date but for some reason it never happened.

Thanks for clearing things up Shyft, I'm quite gullible and after reading Abdul's post, it somehow saddened me so I googled it immediately to verify if its true but there were no accurate results that returned. Good thing I came back to this thread and looked for updates. I used to be a fan of Spidey and Felicia Hardy / Black Cat tandem, but after the first movie adaptation was released, I kinda sided with M.J.because after all, she is Peter's true love.

Amazing Spider-Man #590-591 is a two part Spider-Man/ Fantastic Four team-up by Dan Slott and Barry Kitson, which is hinted to reveal how Spider-Man's identity became a secret and feature an event that will impact the entire Marvel Universe for years to come. Amazing Spider-Man #592-594 is "24/7" by Mark Waid and Mike McKone, features an all-new Vulture, Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man 24/7 in the aftermath of Norman Osborn's rise to power, and an allegedly shocking announcement by Aunt May. Honestly, I was dissapointed with character assassination. I felt that it was exactly the same as new ways to die. It provided answers to a couple of the unanswered questions which were posed a while ago during the last dozen issues, but it added even more confusion by posing a bunch of other cliff-hangers during the last issue, which I'm sure they won't answer until about 2-3 months from now (I'm still waiting to figure out what's going on with mary jane)

In response to the other issues, it's about time that they reveal how everyone forgot that peter was spider-man. This is really long overdue. I'm also happy to see that norman osborn's rise to power will effect spider-man in some way. I was really upset when I read an article recently which said that ASM wouldn't directly be involved with Dark Reign and the series would instead focus on the character assassination series. It really made no sense to me since the goblin is peter's arch-nemesis.

Every hundredth issue of ASM has always been epic for as long as I can remember (fighting uncle ben's killer, aunt may dying, happy birthday, first appearance of venom, etc.) Although I was very skeptical about the content of the 600th issue recently, I have to say that I'm really anticipating it now.

Yep, that's all true. A few other artists and writers will be providing short stories too for the issue.

ASM has been consistently excellent for the last few arcs, so now's the best time to hop on. I'd actually recommend that you start with American Son, otherwise just hop on at #600.

Right now I have it listed as happening in 610, as 608-609 are "Who is Ben Reilly?" and "The Gauntlet" starts with 611.
