Why does Kim Possible have a photo of her nemesis, Shego in her locker? Is there some hidden worshipping going on?
Jack Bauer can spend 24 hours without hitting the can, what is his bladder made of?
Star Trek is all advanced and XXIII-y century neat but they havenīt found a cure for baldness yet?
Why do the spaceships in Battlestar Galactica have engines to fly in outer space when all they really need is just an FTL drive?

You always hurt the one you love...
Jack Bauer can spend 24 hours without hitting the can, what is his bladder made of?
It's not his bladder -- he superglues himself shut before leaving for work, because you never know...!
Star Trek is all advanced and XXIII-y century neat but they havenīt found a cure for baldness yet?
Hmmmm....
Nope.
I got nothin'.
Why do the spaceships in Battlestar Galactica have engines to fly in outer space when all they really need is just an FTL drive?
You know what happens when someone tries to take the highway ramp at 65...?
...Roughly the same thing happens trying to go into planetary orbit at hyper-luminal speeds.
...Not a pretty sight...!

24 often has A, B and C stories. I always assumed that characters go to the bathroom during the stories they are not involved in.

They have. Picard just choses to be bald as a fashion statement.

Why isn't Wolverine paralyzed by the constant pain of a metal skeleton?
Anyone with screws in their knee or an artificial joint can tell you it hurts like hell in colder climates.

This was covered in an issue of X-men Unlimited once. It all hurts, all the time and it's never gotten any less painful. It's just that, in all the time he's been around, he's had to get used to dealing with it. It's the same with any wound that his healing factor deals with, it still hurts like crazy and the healing factor doesn't mitigate the pain.

Nice to know someone else thought of it too, but the dude has metal bones, and he fights in the snow, in Canada?
He shouldn't be able to walk.

why do you THINK!?!
Why do the spaceships in Battlestar Galactica have engines to fly in outer space when all they really need is just an FTL drive?
Good question .... howevr if you think about it.. not really.. like in the Miniseries you see Galactica flying in a gigantic cloud where they could not use their FTL drive..
Also.. if they didn't have those engine we would never have seen The Pegasus Smash that Basestar like it did

The holodeck has replaced all these things.

Why is there sound in space?
Actually, during the explosion, if you're in it or close enough to it, you would hear the noise to some degree. If you're in it you'd hear it the same way you would anywhere else.
Sound is vibration of (non-dark matter) particles that are decoded by your ear/brain.
So, if there's gas or plasma to fuel the explosion, you could, in fact, hear it provided the explosion was large enough or you were near enough.
But, if you're close enough to hear it, you're probably too busy dying to care.

If I understood correctly, time on the holo-deck was limited, like a rest room. So you couldn't just walk in whenever.
so I'm thinkin' it's your day off, the Holo-deck is either occupied or the program has come to life and is tried to kill everyone or something.
What is there to do?
on that note, what WERE the restrooms like on the Enterprise? did they still use hand wadded paper to sanitize? or was there some laser power hiney-hole cleanser.

"There may be a slight ringing in your ears. Fortunately, you'll be nowhere near them."

Well, in the second instance, I would hope you'd be trying to fix the holodeck before it killed everyone. Otherwise, there is, as you said, books, and also more traditional games, exercise/sports, boozing it up in 10-Forward, building a model of the Alamo in your quarters, practicing and/or listening to music, painting, writing, playing with your cat, calling someone up on the subspace video and chatting for a bit, or that popular standby of staying in bed all day and doing either not a damn thing or your significant other, depending on your circumstances.
Or, y'know, you could go to the observation deck and watch the fucking stars streak by at warp speed. I doubt that would ever get old for me.

They were always freshly sanitized, so they could boldly go where noone had gone before...

Why is there sound in space?
There isn't.
What you think is "sound" is actually electrical interference in your ship's comms system from passing plasma bolts, photon torpedo EMPs, charged particles from a passing ship's poorly-shielded warp drive (well, they always glow, so they must be pouring out Cerenkov Radiation in all directions), etc.
It's kind of like when, sometimes, you don't take your earphones off and walk through one of those electro-magnetic anti-theft gates at a store and get that electronic squeal in your ears that goes straight throughg your head and makes your eyes pop out...
