Dammit, man! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1r-88TBWFQ8) Your ring gives you unlimited power, and this is enough to take you out? We're screwed.

The sadder thing? If it had been yellow, it would have been accepted.

That's because the ring has a second, lesser known impurity: Cartoonish birds.

Uh-oh.
Does that mean Hal will be possessed by the cartoonish bird god next?

I'd buy a comic where Hal was possessed by Harvey Birdman.

The funniest intentional bit done with the yellow impurity was a little wink to comic fans in JLU. Even though they never used the impurity on the show, in the episode where Luthor and Flash swap brains, it shows Luthor, as Flash, throwing items from the JLU commissary at John Stewart. He deflects it all of course.... except for the yellow jello, which make it through the shield and onto his face.

I remember a scene in the series premiere where the yellow weakness came into play. Gas bombs were being fired at GL, and he surrounded himself with a protective bubble. The bombs exploded against the shield, but the gas (which was yellow) passed right through. But yeah, that weakness was almost never referenced in the show, which is odd, since they went through the trouble of showing that it existed.

Hey, if you had that sort of weakness, would you want people to be talking about it all the time?
I think they figured they could get away with the corny stuff as long as they don't mention it too often. For instance, how many times did they actually call Professor Ivo's android "AMAZO"?
