Interesting. I'm excited for more Marjorie Liu Marvel work and I like Giuseppe Camuncoli so I'll have to give this a try.

i really don't want to be overly cynical, but this seems like an Unnecessary Character spinning out of an Unnecessary Book... I like the basic idea of him impersonating Logan in Dark Avengers, but running around the rest of the MU on his own? not very interesting IMHO.

Yeah, that was my first impression. Sounded (and still does) like a steaming hunk o'****, regardless of scripter or art. I mean, I don't doubt Liu or Camuncoli's credentials, but they're being forced to use turd as clay and we're supposed to buy earthenware pottery that reeks of cowpatty?
I dunno, I guess folks are interested.

"And it drives him crazy."
Tell me Way, Quesada, et. al. How do you freaks dream this stuff up? Vicodin?
I KNEW IT!!! I knew this litle shit was going to replace Wolverine! It was obvious, with the push he was geting.
Man, there was never a book I wanted to tank so much like this one! Here's hoping it gets cancelled in six!
Ares > Marvel Boy > Bullseye> Moonstone > Gargan >>>>>>> Sentry>>> Daken.
Yes, Sentry is superior to Daken. Really.Yes he is. The only positive thing about Daken was that he practically had "will get killed by Romulus in the course of Wolverine: Origins story" in is forehead, so, we could afford to not give a damn about him. Now, he'll get released in the unsuspecting Marvel U and it will suck horribly!
Thye only saving grace about this crap is that Way now has a completly unsympathetic character with no positive features to write, so he might stop trying so hard to turn Wolverine into that.
I've been misunderstood again. I'm not questioning what the concept is, I'm questioning its right to exist.Well, he has Wolverine's claws and healing factor, only no personality or back story. Unfortunately, I could see many writers salivating for that.

this was actully what i expected when they said that after Miller the title will change i was like what give Daken the book, since im already collecting the book im there plus depending on what they do with him he could get interesting. at least Logan will only really have 2 solo aventures one mission realated vs Romulas and the "Main" in Weapon X focussing on his current life in San Fran i like what is ahead.
relax people, I'm sure wolverine will be ok being dropped from one book... he still has about 20 more books. Give the kid a chanceWolverine loosing one book is not the point (altough, if they had too, they could've just cancelled the abismal Wolverine: Origins instead). The point is that the kid is a horrid character, invented by a terrible writer, who gets a solo book riding in the cottails of Wolverine's success whille much better characters are lost in limbo.

ChaZ X
02-06-2009, 11:10 PM
Daken only exists because people liked x-23 when she showed up. With out her they wouldn't have been able to say, "we can have another wolverine to do even more with, without all that effin continuity and conscience crap. Ooh and we can give him more powers and say he's even better and people will love him even more.! muhuhaha."
And then I killed them with my mind, but I was too late. It had already begun.
Eventually there will be a fight between him and X-23, kind of the yin and yang of their "daddy" (yeah I know X is wolvie's clone and theoretically should be more like a sister to him, but tell me he doesn't look at her and treat like his youngin')
And I hope she kills him. Have it be like "Well I am trying not to be so much the killer they were training me to be and go down the right path and all, but you really are an irrideemable flaming douchebag aren't you?" An then she she rips out his throat with her teeth and then cuts his head off...with a foot claw.
"Only room for one Wolvie "clone" Dick-en...I win"

I can't believe this is happening...
I mean I could understand if it was Yost and Kyle with X-23, but Way, I thinking he belongs in Deadpool, and sometimes Wolverine Origins.
I truly don't see any point in this outside the fact that this is just Marvel's way of getting Way's to expand his "creation" into the rest of the Marvel Universe. :evilangry:
I mean the kid bound to die sometime right ? :frown:

its sad that most people, including myself, only find daken truly interesting when he's donning a slightly altered wolverine design. its just a sign of bad design work. daken was supposed to be big, yet his outward appearance looks so side character or a "concept art" of a side character.
i wanted to make a few fan action scenes with wolverine, but switched the idea over to daken for a few reasons. the main one is that expectations are so high for wolverine and yet for daken its so easy to make him cooler than in the comics.
hopefully they will over time do something more to his image throughout the series, and have reason to tweak with his look too.

I just hope that He doesnt end up getting Adamantium on his bones like Wolverien did. Maybe if his bones were bonded with Wakandan Vibranium or something other than Adamantium. Wolverine has Adamantium bones and claws, X-23 has Adamantium claws. It's been done.
Wakandan Adamantium would allow for his Claws to look aesthetically the same-Balck and porous. Which makes his claws more original aesthetically.
Plus Vibranium would still allow him to match his dad in a fight even X-23.
Also since Vibranium can absorb soud and vibrations his enemies would not hear him coming. But they would have to find a way to explain why he couls till talk and not have the vibrations from his voice absorbed-maybe if his claws are the only thing to get covered with vibranium.
I don't know.
Just something other than Adamantium seriously-Vibranium would be interesting , and his claws could remain black in color.
K I voiced my opinion.

I meant to write Black Vibranium.
They would have to involve the Black Panther and or Wakanda somehow to do the Vibranium bones and or claws.

it will be mostly action with text-over intros over the small preludes in the beginning. we arent going to try to follow the storyline strictly. but if i kiss anyone (dunno how that would fit in with the action) its gunna be a girl, maybe claudine. we probably arent making him bi in this one, prolly wont even discuss his orientation. boring old heteroness

Since you aren't strictly following the story, if you do choose to include Claudine the only thing that I request is that she chug straight from the wine bottle.
That Daken kissed and then played aspyxiation games with some random guy is a big part of why I got interested in his character. It helped me get past his character design. I'm not alone in this, Pete's Pants, Jack Flash where are you?!

First of all, hello new, loved this site, and decided to finally register. Hello everyone!
Now, with this new release of Dark Wolverine. I know a lot of people didn't like Wolverine: Origins, I do, what I think hurt that book in the beginning was not the writing, I find Daniel Way to be able to write solid stories, not great, not bad, but entertaining, solid pieces of work. What hurt that book was Steve Dillon's artwork, I felt like it didn't suit the tone of the book. With Daken, I understand what this book is goin to be about. It's like a spin-off of Wolverine: Origins, showing Daken's rise to power as presumably the next Romulus, of which if that happens, he'll obviously become a major player.
I'm all for it.
Exactly how does Wolverine "loosen" a book? By taking out the staples with his claws?Nice! I made a mistake in a word. In a language that's not my first.
