Young X-men looks great! Sad to see it go.
The covers to Cable/X-force are great

Claremont can win many fans back if he retcons away Dazzler/Longshot/Mojoworld/Pregnancy in his magical Claremont Universe.
Unfortunately, I have to read about Azn Psylocke instead.
However, the Claremont Universe seems more lulzy and interesting than the colossal BORE that appears to be coming to us in 2009 across the rest of the line.

]Way and Liu will be writing "Dark Wolverine" in June, which supplants the current "Wolverine" story. Logan's son Daken will take the starring role, after being chosen by Norman Osborn to be Dark Wolverine. Wearing his dad's costume "drives him insane," Way said. Giuseppe Camuncoli is illustrating.

This new Claremont title is hilarious. Especially when he says he's going to do something totally new and unexpected. Using a sub-plot that doesn't involve a pet character, mind control, and BDSM slavery would be unexpected and new for him.
I don't get why he couldn't write Exiles. He had practically free reign to do whatever he wanted, but he even sucked there. Is this title going to do it for him or is he going to f*ck that up with his half-assed writing?
Little known fact among the X-fans. This isn't the first time Tom Grummet had to draw out a tired writer's delusions on paper. In fact, right around the time X-Men started in 1991, Tom was drawing the Teen Titans, written by Marv Wolfman who was writing in his like, tenth year of creative burnout. Titans sucked back then, but Grummet made it readable. I wonder if he'll be able to do the same for Claremont.

Way and Liu will be writing "Dark Wolverine" in June, which supplants the current "Wolverine" story. Logan's son Daken will take the starring role, after being chosen by Norman Osborn to be Dark Wolverine. Wearing his dad's costume "drives him insane," Way said. Giuseppe Camuncoli is illustrating.

I am very excited about Diogenes Neves on NM...but I do hope he finds a better way to juxtapose Illyana's mystic amour with her costume/uniform...I know I am picking at a (very minor) nit...but I just want this to be perfect or as near to perfection as mutantly possible.

While one can argue about the new, but unexpected? He already told what were his plans for the book if he continued. Everyone knows you're gonna have Magneto's and Xavier's teams, Wolverine and Jean Grey getting together, Xavier dying, etc.

X-Men Forever? GeNeXt? Which one will CC be on?
"GeNext United" will follow up Claremont's "GeNext," and takes place in India. "An adversary whose father is a well-connected villain of the current era, but not necessarily the X-era," the writer said.
Claremont will also be writing "X-Men Forever," picking up where his and Jim Lee's "X-Men" 1-3 left off. "We are about to embark on a world where nothing that you think you know applies any longer. The world Charles Xavier imagines does not exist, and the X-Men's place in the world has radically changed," he said. Tom Grummett will provide the art on this bi-weekly series. "I dare you to guess what's going to happen next! We're going off in a totally different direction from what's been done, and what I've been doing."

"Layla will, I would have to think, eventually come back," David said to laughter. He then sang, in Bohemian Rhapsody fashion, "Miss Millah, we will not let you go! go! go!" He joked that she will likely return "in another major marketing event."
Fan: "Any plans on making Storm a mother?"
David: "I swear to god I thought he said a Muppet!"
David joked that Kitty Pryde would return in "The Kitty Pryde/Layla Miller Special: Sort of the X-Men."
Two fans asked about the effect Scarlett Witch's return would have on the X-Men, but were directed to see the Dark Reign panel, since the character is appearing in Dan Slott's "Mighty Avengers."
David joked that Scarlett Witch would whisper "No more crossovers," which led to applause. "All of you bought 'Secret Invasion,'" McCann laughed.
Thankfully PAD was there for the jokes. It kinda balances out how bummed I was about them not mentioning anything on what Legacy was going to turn into or not saying anything about Nightcrawler than beyond the solicits. Hopefully Slott will give some concrete info on the Scarlett Witch/X-Men subject because thats too big of elephant in the room to ignore.

Everything sounds great.
Love Zeb Wells on New Mutants, that means I can buy it.
I love the stuff about Messiah War.
Glad to see the artists from Storm's mini and Magneto Testament getting work, both are great.
The stuff with Cyclops sounds very interesting, good to see things come full circle, happiness equals boring in the X-World.
Claremont's book sounds boring.
Good stuff, love the covers, especially the X-Force one, that looks sexy.

I somewhat agree. I would rather see this book under a different name than New Mutants.
It's a tricky thing. DC's original group of Teen Titans have since dropped the "Teen" from their name - leaving that for the junior team. However, the somehow always find their way back onto to the kiddie squad in some form or another. You'd think that they would have moved on to. However, once a Teen Titan always a Teen Titan.
I guess the same thing applies to the New Mutants characters. They're not quite new anymore, but it's as much a part of their identity as the "New X-Men" from Giant-Size. Call them whatever you want, but the fans will eternally insist on calling them what they will.
As far as Zeb Wells goes.... If some of you missed his & Skottie Young's "New Warriors" limited series pick it up in trade now. It's a great gem. Young's Saturday morning cartoony art style isn't for everybody, but the reality TV star story angle truly set up what was to come for them in Civil War. Definitely worth a read.
Wells has a greater grasp of writing young, quirky characters than many writers out there. At the same time, he's got a great handle on action and human drama. He's actually a perfect fit for New Mutants. Kinda like Louise Simonson when she rocked the original Vol 1 New Mutants.
His writing and Diogenes' art should make this book kick butt. Now if Marvel can have a little faith in this book and allow it to pick up a fan base - instead of canceling it after year 1 like they typically do nowadays.

Claremont's book sounds boring.
Didn't you hear? Claremont's the new Stan Lee. Marvel will let him write whatever he wants ... so long as he eats at the kiddie table. :p
Though a shadow of his former self, Claremont is so profoundly respected by Marvel for what he once was that they give him these pet projects just to keep him employed. So long as he doesn't screw around mainstream books they don't seem to care. Plus, fans keep on buying so they keep on publishing.
Just watch. In 10-15 years, Marvel will be doing the same thing for Bendis. Keeping him on deck with busy work - doing stuff that doesn't impact continuity, but keeps him and loyalists happy.

No, we are well-balanced. At peace... aren't we?

She definitely would. Also, I don't think C+C have any reason for her to come back. Everyone else they brought back was either connected to their previous stories, or connected to one of the other characters. Darkstar never really got connected to anyone....
If The Darkstar War doesn't happen in the comics, I will make it happen online. Solemn promise!
Maybe if Hellion dies in X-Force he could come back as a zombie? It'd be a misguided attempt to appeal to X-23's emotions?

So...Daken, aka "Dark Wolverine" gets an ongoing (of sorts) while other more interesting, well known, strong, 3-dimensional characters are still relegated to back up/background, wall paper status?...wow..just...wow!..this form of "nepotism" is particularly odious.
I'm no great Daken fan, but I'm much happier with them giving a new character like him a chance as opposed to recycling through the same characters they've already given solo opportunities to, only to see them fall on their faces.
I mean...I love guys like Colossus and Nightcrawler, but those are 20k selling books that wont last a year.

Wow. It's really refreshing to see somebody around here who gets it. Seriously.
Not that I think Daken's book will last indefinitely (at the end of the day he is a cheap imitation, after all), but he's certainly more marketable than a solo (*insert supporting cast X-man character here*).

Starting to think that Cable is a goner. There were some comments from Fraction about what an impact Hope would have on Cyclops and the X-men, which obviously implies that she makes it back, but nothing regarding Cable. I'm thinking he either dies or stays in the future on his own for some reason (not really sure why he'd want to do that, though).
Oh, well. Lots of cool X-Force and Wolverine related stuff to spend my money on.

I don't know, to be honest. But I'm willing to give it an arc or two to show me. I probably wouldn't do the same for the majority of the X-men if they got a solo title (Cyclops, Emma, Beast, Colossus, Nightcrawler, etc.).
I will say that it's going to have to be pretty darn good to keep me beyond the first arc, though.

If DAKEN ends up being Wolverine's dad, this would be the most exciting comic in the history of the medium.
Barber said that Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's "Old Man Logan" arc will end with "Old Man Logan Giant Sized Specail," and that #73-74 of the series would be co-written by Daniel Way and Jason Aaron, with art by Adam Kubert and Tommy Lee Edwards.Uau! That has so many mixed messages to me that I'll probably have it in my hands in the bookstore and still not know if I'm going to buy it or not.
X-Force: Sex and Violence, on the other hand, is a must buy. Yost, Kyle and Dell Otto in a Wolverine and Domino story? That might be too fun to be legal!

I see that Nachturne is in the crowd asking questions.
I was in the back when the panel started, and when a woman asked about Nocturne, I immediately realized it was Nachturne. I wonder if that was Joe Acro beside her.
Affinity must have asked a question for Swashbuckler:
I for one am really disappointed in whoever live-blogged this panel.
I was standing but eventually moved forward along the side, and as a matter of fact I asked one lone question at the end:
"Will Claudine re-appear in X-Men Legacy?"
Jim McCann asked me to repeat the question and I swooned. The man had me giggling through the whole panel at every one of his remarks! This crush is official. And then Mike Carey disappointingly said no.
I met Marjorie Liu later on and we talked for a bit and she signed a bookmark for me! She's such a sweatheart, I adore her, and gorgeous and cute, too! When I talked to her, no one else was there in her queue, and she said, "Oh you were at the panel, weren't you? I saw you in the corner!" and I squealed in my purple cardigan and red and white striped shirt with glee.
I forgot to take a picture and hope she'll be around tomorrow!

The files names say that these images are from Young X-men 11, so I guess that this scene is probably set in the future.
I guess in the future Anole gets uglier and Greymalkin looks exactly the same. Thank god this series is almost over.
There was a lot of good news from this panel though Magik is definitely a part of the New Mutants line up and for the most part I did enjoy Zeb Well's work on the Civil War: Young Avengers/Runaways crossover so I'm happy about that. And Diogenes Neves recent work has been incredible so I'm ecstatic about that.
A Daken ongoing book? So there's a Dark Reign Hawkeye Mini, Moonstone is taking over Ms. Marvel's book where Noh-Varr is currently guest starring, Ares will be showing up in both War Machine and alongside the whole team in Incredible Hercules. The Dark Avengers are getting a really huge push, they're everywhere, it's insane.

The hatred over Greg Land comes from the fact that he traces the same 5 poses from his top 5 favorite porno's over and over again in his comics. If the complaint for Greg Land is that every looks liked models and Abercrombie models then I need to welcome you to comics.

if i am being criticized for expressing my opinion about the current rendering of Anole....then it should apply to everyone *shrug*.
i cannot stand Greg Land's art either. But if i am being cornered for expressing my opinions on the artwork, i sure as hell am not going to be in that corner alone, since almost everyone has done it.
Regardless of if You like him or not....there is a good chance he's not going into Limbo. At this point, he might not have the prominence of an allstar...but he seems to be popular to use among the writers compared to other New X-Men. Also, he is more popular than Sage.
