View Full Version : Warner Bros. Confirms Many More Batman Movies!
Saw THIS (http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/02/04/warner-bros-wants-seven-batman-movies/#more-19392) at /Film. It's no real surprise that Warners are planning beyond Batman 3 but we all know what happened the last time...
So Nolan is pretty much confirmed for a third (early script treatments, supposedly), and then what? I know this has been discussed before but this is the first time we've had any confirmation of plans for the future. I highly doubt Nolan will make a fourth, so who should?
Anybody like Alfonso Cuaron? Children Of Men is amazing. I think he could be good at balancing the action and drama. I'm sure Warners will want to expand on the grounded, realistic Batman that's already made them millions and millions rather than introduce supernatural elements too. And would they even risk thinking about Robin after the last run of Bat-films? I've never been a Robin fan so i'm biased, but i do think it would be a mistake in the current "continuity" of the Bat-movies.
Anyway, as i said, this has been discussed before, but now we know: Batman in the cinema for years to come. Let's hope that's a good thing.

Honestly after Batman 3 I can see this go the way of the first quadrilogy...unless they get Nolan to be involved in some way.
As for new Batman movies I would MUCH prefer we got some new DCAU movies down the line, but that's just me. They don't quite have the same draw as the live action films.

I doubt Nolan has it in him to go beyond a third great Batman Film. . .so once he leaves Bale and gang will follow also especially if DC/WB is grooming THIS Batman to star in the stillborn JLA film. . .
IMO, I don't think it would work without Nolan and Gang.

It will be fine. Warners have learnt enough as to what makes, at the very least, a decent Batman movie. If Nolan and co are not involved, so be it. Robin can and will handled well, as will any continuation of the franchise. I'm sure there will be many, many a post decrying this position, but such is the way of fanboyism. Change is a constant. People's negative reactions to it are largely unnecessary.
The appointment of Martin Campbell as the director of the Green Latern movie is big step in the right direction, and one that inspires confidence, to me at least, that Warners know what they are doing now.

I'm sorry, but that article's stupid. Yeah, they should leap ahead 20 something years after the third film, to make DKR, and what... then go back to a sequel with a younger Bruce Wayne? What?
Anyway, Nolan Shmolan. I'd like to see him sit in some sort of producer spot after the third film. I don't see him making any more after the third one. Unless he was given time to walk away and do other things first...
I think Robin could fit the universe if handled right... and only a small part. Introduced like Carrie Kelly. And then shuffled off to the side lines. I don't think he fits as a regular character... or as a side kick.

Honestly, I hope Cuaron never directs a Batman film because it would be a waste of potential.

I think the Harry Potter/James Bond model would work well with the Batman franchise. Keep the same cast and general tone but mix up the directors to keep it fresh. More flexibility, you could get some interesting takes on the mythos with out being constrained in a trilogy structure and you don;t have to worry about directors returning an such.
This is important for attracting top talent in terms of directors and screenwriters. Because alot of top guys might not want to lock into a multiple film contrat, they might just wanna do one and film and move on instead of taking up a whole chunk of their career just with Batman.

Shame on you. Is it a waste of potential if he creates a GREAT batman movie? why not batman over anything else? What Nolan has done is prove these are not just "superhero films", they can be films of real integrity no?

I doubt Bale will be in the 4th film. WB will want Robin to be in the movies to sell more action figures.

If they put in robin like Loeb did in Dark Victory, I'm not worried.

Anyone think that the Knightfall trilogy will be adapted into the movies? Not immediately, mind you, but eventually?

Ah, you're bringing me down with the truth!

Yeah they're good movies. So what? A Cuaron Batman would also be good. Maybe it would "crush" the Dark Knight as well. please try not to be so puerile in your response. I never mentioned his previous films either, not even Harry Potter, so i don't know what that has to do with anything ^

Nothing wrong with that, we need to kick start the economy.

Children of Men was gay. How do you like them apples? I know more about movies than you.

Really? How would you go about proving them apples, Mr. President?

It's good that you mention Harry Potter now. That was the last time Cuaron sucked. Quite frankly, I don't think the man is suited for franchise films, and I'm also reluctant to see him direct another one because he might be pressured into doing sequels. I would much rather watch a talented director like Cuaron do his own thing rather than jump on a franchise for a while.

I hope the next Batman film is about Batwoman, just so that I can see the forum response.
