View Full Version : Grant Morrison: "I'm returning to Batman in June..."

Well, that's quick...
At the conclusion of his Newsarama Final Crisis exit interview (part 2! (http://www.newsarama.com/comics/020904-Grant-FC2.html)) he pretty much tells us when he'll be back on the book.
Past comments (from Grant and others) seemed to indicate he was going to be away for quite a while - after Battle for the Cowl was completed, mainly...

Excellent stuff. "It's a 4-D Roy Lichtenstein Page!" may be one of the greatest descriptions ever.
P.S. gotta love the retards on Newsarama. Third comment in is some joker asking if Dini's returning to Detective. Good lord...

In which case we can probably expect more Morrison-driven events in the Bat-books :frown:
I don't mind Morrison being on a book I don't read. What I do mind is him making the books I do read, unreadable because he's got yet another event idea that will probably fizzle out with a lack lustre ending.

Well, the last comment I heard him make before this is that he'd be back in the summer. Which June is, I guess. And since BFTC ends in May, that's pretty much what I was expecting anyway.

It'll be interesting to see how they do the June solicits without revealing the ending of BFTC.

It will stick. The overarching plot will not be changed. Simply put, you don't draw a guy's comic, let alone the best comic in the world, without knowing where he's headed.

Do you know how many boners that would give me?
Nope, more.
Even more than that.

Morrison has said that he would return. Initially, no formal date was set, but now as we move closer, he has set it. Remember, he was first asked back in September or October. Morrison also said that he knew the ending for "Battle For The Cowl". We might also be seeing what Bruce is up to, while the other books deal with the fallout of BFTC.

I was hoping hed dissappear, but thats just me....
I'm glad he's coming back in June. Right now Morisson is the only reason I'm sticking with Batman. I'm just finding DC books boring and not worth the expense.

I would love to drop Batman for awhile, just so my dollar (insignificant as it is) wouldn't seem to contribute to voting him to stay on the book, but I'm such a completist that I would just have to go back afterward so I could have all the issues and no holes in my collection. Well...here's hoping he writes it so us stupid people can understand it this time. (Not that I feel I'm stupid, but I know so many others that think those who gave RIP and/or Final Crisis a thumbs down have an IQ below 40.)

Why would someone asking that have to be a "joker?" I enjoy Dini, especially Dini on Batman. Not trying to be a wise guy, just wanted to know.

It invariably descends into a Dini vs Morrison pigfight instead of selectively commenting on the topics at hand, which were Morrison's post-FC plans.

Oh, I defintely think it will lead directly into where Morrison goes on with the storyline from here. It will also lead up to whatever ongoing bat-books replace Nightwing, Robin and BOP.

Nah, by the time RIP ended nothing at DC was really grabbing me aside from Secret Six, but even that didn't get me as interested or excited about comics as Grant's Bat-Run did.

And I've already said my piece about those pretentious gits on the Final Crisis thread. I like Morrison's work as much as the next fellow, but when he has to explain the contents of #7 bit by bit (on Newsarama) and it still doesn't make complete sense to me, it's a bit flawed. Amazingly written, I'm sure, but still flawed.
