Mutant League 02/02/09 AM Game I: CyberHubbs & worstblogever vs. AceOfSpades

Greeting fight fans! Welcome to today's fight!

In the first corner we have CyberHubbs & worstblogever's EMBRACE OUR MIGHTY SACK:
Kiden Nixon, Mysterio (Klum), Madison Jeffries, Sack, Whirlwind, Adam-X, Tantra

Arriving within the fighting arena, being faced with a lack of powers and tech might be a worry for a team… but one man is both haunted, and somehow, on home turf in this fight.

Immediately under the threat of gunfire, Sack will move forward to take out Lady Mastermind, unaffected by any bullets she fires. “{I]They still kind of tickle[/i],” gloats our gelatinous wonder. Completely safe from bullets in his gel form (Uncanny X-Men #323), and a mutant who survived on the harsh environment on the extra-dimensional space known as “The Hill”, any attacks against him would do little but make him shake like a bowl of Jell-O, and upon reaching Lady M, Sack would grapple her, shoving his whole gelatinous arm in her mouth, choking her airway, and slowly suffocating her. While powerless, Sack would be unable to possess Lady M, he’s still tailor fit to choke her out, and keep her busy, unable to fire her pistols effectively.

“Hoped I’d never have to be back in this place,” Madison Jeffries says, with a shiver of horror as he remembered the fact that he designed and built Neverland Prison Camp…

As everyone moves for cover, with their foes far away, Madison quickly tells his team they’ll have to fight this one out hand to hand, and asks that they follow him, as to not set off any of the security deterrents he created, and to engage the foes from an ambush point he knows will prove to their benefit. After they’ve dealt with their opponents, he can help them power down the device that’s stripped them of their powers, and they’ll be able to fully escape.

Mysterio asks, “How do you know so much about this place, anyway?”

“Later, let’s deal with our foes, first!” interrupts Adam X.

Adam X gleefully wades into battle with his Thet’je blades, heading right for Namor, the Sub-Mariner. Flinging his throwing blades, to wound Namor, before he engages him directly, Adam has before managed to bloody and knock out all of X-Force (X-Force (vol. 1) Annual #2) with his impressive martial arts skills. While Namor has substantial combat experience, and is likely the biggest threat, he more typically relies on his variety of overwhelming strength and speed. Against Adam, still in possession of his Thet’je blades, and covered in his spiky armor, would easily overpower even a grizzled veteran fighter like Namor.

Similarly, Whirlwind moves forward, and while he is without his powers, and motorized saw blades, he still keeps shuriken upon his person, which he will use to wound Magma, before moving in to fight her with his skills as a one-time wrestler, grappling the already wounded young woman, and oddly calling her Janet repeatedly, as he assaults her, and then chokes her out.

Madison Jeffries, in the meantime, with the help of Mysterio, work in tandem to fight Lorna Dane. With numbers on their side, the two on one advantage clearly works in their favor. Never known for her hand-to-hand combat skills, the duo would be able to overpower her.

Similarly, Kiden Nixon, who’s a real runaway scrapper, with the help of Tantra, would work to overpower Cloak. Kiden’s been known to fight dirty, and with a little help, has shown herself able to overcome people without any real hand to hand skill (NYX: No Way Home #3), even without her powers. That duo should be able to work together to overpower Tyrone.

Cleaning up- Once the five opponents in this fight who are mobile have been taken out, Whirlwind will stomp on the life support jar that houses Martha Johanssen, disgusted that the five weirdos he just fought would keep some poor sap’s brain as a souvenir like that. "Buncha savages, man."

Contingencies-
Really, if anyone can’t pull their weight in this fight… who can beat a guy who doesn’t have a solid form? How can you wound/choke/knock out Sack. In the end, all our opponents will embrace the mighty Sack, regardless of how they fare. He can suffocate them all, one at a time.

More importantly, when Sack starts suffocating Lady M, if she drops her pistol, Mysterio and Kiden in particular will be looking to scavenge, pick them up, and wield them. Both have shown themselves handy with a firearm (Mysterio in Spider-Man/Black Cat: The Evil That Men Do #6, and Kiden in NYX: No Way Home #3).


Epilogue:
Jeffries, with great regret, informs his teammates of the story behind Neverland, assuring them that he was prodded into creating the prison by Weapon X’s director, and locked in a room where he wouldn’t be allowed to see its prisoners as he built. Walking them through the facility, he could bypass security codes, get clearance from any of his old Box Bots, and walk them up to the device that renders mutants powerless, turn it off, and then use it as spare parts to create a helicopter to fly his teammates on to the next round. It would be a silent flight, but with so many hard cases on the team, Jeffries’ regret over his past may just be possibly forgiven.

Okay so this match is going to be at least decently interesesting, seeing as how no one has powers, and my two point character is not only a floating brain, but now is a brain that cannot even float.

Coming into the fight my team basically has the following:
Polaris: Her costume and her tiara
Lady M: Her costume. And two hand guns of some unknown caliber (check out all her recent appearances for proof)
No-Girl: A Jar with a brain.
Magma: Her costume
Cloak: His Cloak should presumably still exist, it just doesn’t have any power
Sub-Mariner: His speedo, and his rage(!)

Stage One: Welcome to Neverland
Clearly the most dangerous person is Adam-X with his damnable Thet’je blades. So, he’s got to die.

Lady Mastermind pulls out her hand guns and gives one to Magma, who readies herself.

Since there are no powers, its going to take a couple of seconds for the other team to cross the field.

Regan also unclips her top, letting her breasts hang freely. I do this for two reasons. 1) Lady M would use whatever wiles she can to distract the other team. and 2) several of the other members may be especially liable to be affected by this. Mysterio is a rapist (poor Black Cat) and would love to touch her bazoombas. Kiden Nixon is a little girl and probably would get a little embarrassed by seeing a woman’s tatas. And then Tantra is a horny teenage boy with basically no battle training, he’s gonna start sporting an elephant woody.

Polaris takes off her cape and prepares to use it.

Cloak takes off his cloak as well, and holds it with a net like grip.

Namor picks up Martha.

Namor takes this time to use Martha as a bowling ball and rockets her across the ground at the other team, specifically Adam X. He may not have his super strength, but getting hit in the feet by a bowling ball is going to hurt. It’ll either hit someone and hurt them, or cause people to jump out of the way, distracting them.

Lady M’s first target is Adam X, should she get within a range that she has a good shot, she shoots him in the face. If he looks like he’s going to throw he blades, she’ll shoot him even earlier. When Adam x is taken down, Namor runs to pick up his blades, (or blade singular if one got handed away). He then prepares to smite his enemies. He charges Madison Jeffries and starts a-slicin’.

IF HOWEVER: Adam X gave away all of his blades, Lady Mastermind will focus on both people that have the blades. Namor will grab one of the blades after he/she falls.

Regan aims for Whirlwind second. Seeing as Lady M actually owns these guns, she should be able to change targets almost instantly. She shoots him for the kill as well.
Magma’s first target is Tantra, we don’t want any kind of elephant stampede, so she aims for his knees (as she is unlikely to want to kill him with a gun). She shoots at his knees until he’s down. If anyone should charge her as she’s shooting, she’ll go for their knees too.

Polaris stays by Lady M, cape in hand. If anyone should get near either of them, then she’ll use her cape like a net to entrap them, and then start pummeling them. Lady M shoots the entangled person when she gets a chance.

Cloak focuses on Sack. He makes his way over to him and throws his giant cloak onto the pile of goo. If Sack tries attacking or escaping, Cloak knocks him over and kicks a few times. Cloak basically bundles him up so he can’t attack anyone. I mean, it’s a BIG cloak. Tying someone up in it shouldn’t be that hard.

Out: Adam-X, Tantra, Whirlwind, Madison Jeffries, and whomever attacked Polaris/Lady M, and possibly Sack

Part Deux: This is NEVERLAND!

Namor, having taken care of Jeffries, turns to Klum. He savors the beat down he’s about to give this scoundrel. Namor won’t kill him outright with the blades, he’ll just slice him up very badly.

Magma is knee-shooting anyone that is left on the opposing team. Should she run out of bullets, the pistol whip becomes her means of attack. If Whirlwind is still around, he is her new primary target.

Polaris is still vigilante for attacks against herself or Regan. She’s like a cat waiting to pounce.

Cloak keeps struggling with Sack.

Lady M walks over to Kiden Nixon, shooting anyone that stops her on the way, and pistol whips the girl upside the head. As she does this she laughs maniacally with he rbreasts bouncing in the open air.

“Try and Freeze time now, BITCH!”

(And if Regan is somehow already out, the Magma does the pistol whipping, but doesn’t do the yelling).

Namor targets sack with the blades at this point. Sack may still be goopy, but he won’t have any regenerative powers.

At the end of the match everyone goes looking for No-Girl, who should be a little banged up, but still alive.

Actually, Mysterio III never raped Black Cat. His brother tried to rape her. In fact, the one woman who he telepathically dominated, was a hooker he forced to let him go back door. So, bazoombas don't seem to be what he wants. Had she dropped her pants and bent over, you might have had something.

Kiden Nixon is a little girl and probably would get a little embarrassed by seeing a woman’s tatas.
Kiden used to drop Ectasy at dance clubs. I hardly think she's the shy type.

As Lady M will have Sack to deal with first, I doubt she gets this shot off. Also... one rolling Martha, whose housing isn't even perfectly round, shouldn't be hard for him to jump over. So even if Lady M finds a way around Sack... she's going to have to pull off a headshot to avoid Adam's armor.

Regan aims for Whirlwind second. Seeing as Lady M actually owns these guns, she should be able to change targets almost instantly. She shoots him for the kill as well.
Again, she'd have to be quite the marksman, and have figured out how to ditch Sack.

As bullets didn't take down Sack, blades wouldn't effect his gooey form, either.





All this aside, it seems important to add we have a 7-5 advantage, and both Sack, Adam X and Whirlwind have outstanding combat experience. Thinking Sack would be taken out by a sheet of fabric, when he survived to grow to an adult on a Hill seems laughable. Especially because unless the cloak is sentient, we've never seen Tyrone able to "net" anyone. It's not an easy melee maneuver to execute. Mainly because people have a nasty habit of dodging. Our numbers alone quickly negate the firearm advantage.

After talking to my partner, we have decided to go with AceOfSpades


We believe Regan gets both her shots in before the opposite team reaches them (Since Sack needs to walk/run the distance like anyone else). Obviously we dont think she could make the shots from her initial location but with the opposite team charging at them tehre would be a distance close enough for Regan to shoot while still far enough for the opposite team to attack.
With Adam X dead, Namor is free to go against Madison and he would obviously win.
That leaves Polaris not double teamed which is good.
This shift the numericals advantage oppositely which is why we ultimately decided to vote this way.

I state that if any attempts to attack Magma, she'll shoot him. Guns have a further range than shruiken. On top of that, Whirlwind would be used to having the extra speed to fling the shruikens with accuracy, which he does not have at all in this fight, all his aim would need to be recalculated.

Lorna is liable to get at least one of them in her cloak to tangle them up, at which point she has a few seconds to deal with the other. Namor should be charging over at any moment with Adam-Xs blades to slice these to guys up very painfully, as they are his next two targets anyway.

Similarly, Kiden Nixon, who’s a real runaway scrapper, with the help of Tantra, would work to overpower Cloak. as for how many shots per gun... I know it really just depends on the guns, and that hasn't been made quite clear. i've seen handguns that hold 6 bullets, and I've seen some that hold double that

Adam X (apart from being a most henious character of the highest order) was known for needing to cut. Regardless of power restriction he should retain his ability to strategise his angles for blade deflection, sheer savage slicing ability.

I missed voting in this which has annoyed me as I thought gun were illegal but if they are not then fair enough.

Why not remove swords too? Some teams will have an advantage, power and equipment wise, each round because of the characters they drafted. It's going to happen no matter what. You shouldn't forcibly remove aspects from characters because you think the other team might have an easier go of it.

Guns are unfair in a powerless match, at least with swords the person has to get close, fight and inflict a wound while a gun they can stand 50 meters away and still get the hit.

When one of the primary things about a character is that they carry guns, they should be removed from them, especially when other technology is removed from the match. Would Cable or Forge's guns be deactivated while Mystique keeps her's just because Cable and Forge's are more advanced? In the end they are still guns.

Up close, the armed person has as much advantage over the unarmed as the sniper over their target. Would you really try to say that say a powerless Silver Samurai, with his sword and armour, engaging a powerless Emma in combat is less one sided than Lady M using her pistol on moving targets?
