Still one of the best scenes in TAS.When i was a kid i was scared of Joker thanks to this scene.

Brilliant character design. I love the way the animated Joker's temperament so easily shifted from clownish and playful to pure evil.

Does the guy in the coffin actually die? I was waiting for Batman to rescue him, as was always the way in these kid-friendly cartoons.

Batman did rescue Sid but we didn't see it. Sid then went to Rupert Thorne and told his story, desperately asking for protection. Thorne tried to shoot Sid instead, but Batman then emerged from the shadows and took Thorne down. Turns out Batman was laying low after his 'death', hoping that Sid would lead him to Thorne. Sid ended up going to jail for his role in the heist at the beginning of the ep, but now had a rep for having survived a meeting with the Joker and helped take down Thorne, so the other prisoners treated him with respect.
