I downloaded this yesterday and only got to play it for a few minutes. The graphics, even just for the demo, are phenomenal. I had a bit of a learning curve with the controls, but this is going to be my next video game purchase, no doubt.

Anyone else had a chance to try it? What do you think?

While I like the gears of war style controls, I keep trying to take cover behind something, and then realizing I cant.

So neither of you played RE4? Because the controls are the same, and it came out before GoW.

Assumptions are never good. Of course I played Resident Evil 4... on the gamecube. Different controllers.

You couldn't strafe with the L stick in RE4.

This game is awful. If it wasn't Resident Evil, people would tear it to shreds for the complete lack of tension and utterly prehistoric control scheme and gunplay.

I think what you meant to say was, "I loved it!"

Weren't paying attention when RE4 dropped, were you? People love this.

And how much tension are you expecting when it's a demo of an action section? And if it wasn't RE, why would anyone expect tension anyway?

I played RE4 on the Wii, and playing the RE5 demo made me realize I can't aim for crap with a regular controller.

The demo comes out on PSN today, so I will check it out tonight. It looks awesome.

I played both the 360 and PS3 demos. I prefer the PS3 controller for this game. It it plays exactly like RE4 so I know I'll love it. Co-op is a fine addition. I doubt I'll ever play this game on my own.

I played the demo on PS3 and really liked it. I have been reading in a lot of places online that the controls are terrible, but they seem fine to me. Pretty much just like RE4, which was an evolved system of the previous RE games' controls. It seems like the biggest gripe is that you can't "run 'n gun" (well you can't move and shoot at the same time at all), and that this should be something that is incorporated because other third person games have done it very well. I think, and this is just my opinion, that not being able to move and shoot while swarms of zombies (or whatever they are now) are pouring out of everywhere at you really ratchets up the tension. However, I can see where this can be frustrating to players as well. But, if I really think about it, running and shooting at moving targets would lead to some pretty inaccurate shots. Walking and shooting may be more accurate, but I don't mind that you have to stand still to shoot. I do plenty of shooting, running for cover or an open spot, and repeat. Plus, shoot them in the legs then run and and punch them. That's a lot of fun to do.

Xbox Spotlight had a video article on RE5 which talked about having a run and gun option. I didn't noticed it in the 360 demo, but I'm gonna look at the controls again to see if something is missing. The person said the controls were either RE4 or Gears of War style.

For the sake of RE a retrospective is out now, part 1.

I watched that. Pretty good. Gametrailers does a nice job with these. They did a great 10 or 11 part retrospective on all the Star Wars games that have come out over the years that was really good. The RE storyline has become pretty convoluted over the years, and this will be a nice refresher to the games. I still own all of the titles in the main series, but I doubt I will go back and play them anytime soon.

Yeah cause honestly I lost track of who died, who they were, what has happened to jill and chris since she went looking for him and all that. Stories kind of jumped around a bit. I loved the game but just wish I could sit and read something that broke everything down.

I initially complained about no run n gun but after I played the demo for a while I saw that it didn't need it. Enemies move too slow, have the option of close quarters combat and avoiding their attacks is easy most of the time. Being able to run n gun make this game a little too easy.

If anyone wants the collectors edition. Yeah the bag and necklace suck but I was kind of interested in the figure and the bonus dvd.

Deepdiscount has it for 78.99 which is 11 bucks cheaper than anyone else and they have free shipping on everything. I bought from them before and they always did me right and shipped pretty quick.

The first demo level is to stay alive basically. In the house is a bad idea once the "boss" breaks it down. It's okay to run around the entire level. I find it really fun to move around and find everything and discover new chokepoints.

The easiest way to beat the level that I found was to head to the left after the gate is broken down, and there should be a building that you can climb a ladder and get to the roof. The big man won't climb up after you, and you only have two places to protect, the ladder and the corner by the ladder. Easy as pie, but not much fun.

I was able to take down the chainsaw guy by employing the ol' stick and move tactic. Shoot him until he gets stunned (I think I then ran up to him and did an uppercut), then run from him and have him come at me again. Repeat shooting him and running. I think I tossed some grenades his way too. It was good to see that Sheva stayed a distance away from him so I didn't really have to worry too much about protecting her from him and could just focus on unloading my gun into him.
