I am going to try this series, as soon as it comes out. Those covers look great and I've heard good things about The Warlord for years. I've been wanting to experience it and now is the time. I'll also be getting those reprints from DC. I'm in the mood for some sword-and-sorcery again! Yay to DC and Mike Grell!!

I may check this out (as well as the reprints).

I was wondering when we'd hear about this. I'm definitely interested.
Hopefully they will get the reprints out near the start of the new series to help sell the current book.
I'm game, but I am a fan of Mike Grell and the original Warlord series. If you are curious about Mike Grell's work, check out some of the Jon Sable Freelance trades that IDW did. They are really well done and even though that book is definitely of the 80s, it is still a good read.

I'm not at all familiar with the Warlord concept, beyond what I've read on Wikipedia and seen in the Dini/Timmverse, but I'm totally interested and intrigued by this. I'm definitely looking forward to trying this series out.

This news had made my day. Not only do we finally get reprints of the original series, but Grell has returned to offer all new stories. I'm a huge fan of the Warlord and this has been long overdue. I can't wait.
I second earl's recommendation for Jon Sable as well. A great series and a must read for all Grell fans.

I was on the fence if I wanted to read this one (mainly due to my budget) but now I'm certain that this series deserves a shot. Can't wait.

I can't wait for this! I'm very excited!
WARLORD!!!!!
I'm looking forward to this. I really really want an Absolute edition hardcover collection of the original Warlord complete, and put the supplemental stories in a separate book, except for Wizard World because that actually moves the plot along.

Bit miffed about these reprints. A far better plan would be to just publish the new series, get tons of people enthused.... refuse to reprint old material... and watch back issue prices soar. That... sir... is my completely detached view, and has nothing to do with the fact that I stashed all 133 issues away a long time ago.
No, seriously... its good news.

Yeah, he kinda forgets that he wrote the Warlord/Green Arrow team-up.

Looks good. Might actually check this out. I was initially questioning this title as an ongoing after DC cancelled so many others. Been looking for a replacement fantasy/adventure series after Conan rebooted and Red Sonja hasn't been the same since Oeming left.

Going to give this a shot. I love that DC got Grell to come back. That Bruce Jones/Bart Sears series was terrible, so hopefully we can have a readible Warlord. Also those pages from Joe Prado (who I'm not to familiar with) look downright gorgeous! At first I thought we'd get another Sears-like artist (personally I was hoping to see Phil Winslade to be the penciller), but with Grell's writing and Prado's work, I think we're safe.
Support this title and tell others!

I hope Mike Grell is reading this.
About four years ago I began arguing with DC to reprint 3 stories ...
"Emperor Joker" - which they finally collected last year,
"Legion Lost" - for which I was given the impression that they "couldn't" reprint,
and "Warlord", which they initially said "there's no demand for that type of book now."
Of course, when books like "Conan" & "Red Sonja" showed that there was a market for this type of book, DC got the bright idea to try to reinvent Warlord and said that with the new book coming out, they couldn't reprint the series now because it would confuse readers.
I even spoke to the guy who runs GIT, the company that put the Marvel comics collections on dvd, about putting Warlord on disk. He said he actually knew you, and would talk to you about it. I had hopes!
This should give you an idea of how glad I am to see you bringing back your book. The only thing I ask is, there are two stories that have been done since the end of the original series that are worth including in the history of the character ...
There was a story with Travis Morgan in "Green Arrow" after Oliver Queen died, and a much longer story in Wonder Woman that took place in Skataris, both good stories that added to the Warlord mythos.
Welcome back,
Ron

Only after Dan Jurgens nearly twisted his arm off..
Yay! Yay! YAY!
(To exceed the 10 character limitation, though only the first YAY is really needed....)

I've just preordered this. My one reservation (amid ENORMOUS hopeful enthusiasm) is Grell's history of strong beginnings and sudden stops mid-story.
Have nearly all his Warlord (missing a few before #10) issues, and most of what he's done since; but that includes several series that just... stopped... including the return of John Sable now several years back.
But boy, hope reigns supreme, I guess, and were these those long-ago times, I'd be ordering at least two copies, ah speculation.
