So I finally got that PS2 as a hand-me-down from my friends. The first game I ran out and bought was Simpsons Hit & Run. Problem is, when the game first loads, a message comes up about my not having a memory card enabled. This, in itself is not a problem, since you can choose to play without a memory card, but the game is completely unresponsive to my controller when this message comes up. I can't select the option to play without the memory card, nor can I get any response from the console at all. The game is totally frozen.
I've since returned and purchased another copy of the game, retried the game with another controller, and tried another game on the system to make sure the problem isn't with my PS2 (I tried PS1 Final Fantasy Origins, which worked), so this would appear to rule out a problem with the game, the controller, or the system itself.
Does anyone know what's wrong, here? Would purchasing a memory card solve this problem? Is there a known glitch with Simpsons Hit & run?
