Remember back in JLA #69 when the League members were sent to the Obsidian age and there was a replacement League? Lets say that the current team (Batman, Black Canary, Black Lightning, Firestorm, Flash (Wally), Green Lantern (Hal/John), Hawkgirl, Red Arrow, Superman, Vixen, Wonder Woman, Zatanna) have disappeared.

YOU get to pick a replacement JLA roster. The only rule is that none of the current members can be on the roster. Since Hal and John normally rotate missions, lets say only one of them disappears and you can use the other.

My team:

Story set-up: its after Blackest Night. Martian Manhunter and Aquaman came back to life as Black Lanterns but are now better (a guy can dream, right?). They return and find the League gone, and Barry Allen back amongst the living. These 3 for a new Big 3 and start a new team...

Aquaman (Orin)
Flash (Barry)
Martian Manhunter
Atom (Palmer)
Green Arrow (Ollie)
Fire
Firehawk
Ice
Metamorpho
Plastic Man
The Ray
Red Tornado
Zauriel

Who is your team?

I like this idea but am not really heavily caught up with what's going on in DC these days since I fled during the 87 crisises. so forgive me if i include folks that DC likely threw away and killed.

Hrm. I'm gonna go with who's currently around, even though I'd prefer characters who've died or whatever. I also didn't add JSA members, as they'd be most likely busy with their own team.

1. Donna Troy
2. Captain Marvel
3. Plastic Man
4. Huntress
5. Oracle
6. Zauriel
7. Guy Gardner
8. Tangent Flash
9. Detective Chimp
10. Empress
11. Gypsy
12. Ray Palmer Atom

I figure post-Blackest Night, the GL Corps is going to be pretty busy. But even so, I can't see a JLA without at least one Lantern on the team. I'd pick the following folks:

Nightwing (leader)
Power Girl (the muscle)
Flash/Barry (gotta have a speedster)
GL (Hal or John either one. Kyle and Guy seem to have little reason to come back to Earth at the moment aside from Guy pining for Ice)
Martian Manhunter (ressurected after FN)
Aquaman (ditto)
Vixen (suffering from survivor's guilt, unsure of what happened to her team. I could see some counseling sessions with Wally regarding Barry's previous death)
Dr. Fate (barring Zatanna's presence)

I decided to work with a 14 member Satilite Era-type League:

-Nightwing - team leader, about time Dick steps up and takes his place in the big leagues, but he needs to stay his own man, not become the Bat. He's got connections to almost everybody in the DCU and he's the best leader of them all, he deserves to be in this spot more than anybody else

-Troia - With Wonder Woman MIA, I wanted to keep an Amazon representative on the team and Donna with her connection to Nightwing and her strong standings in the DCU fits the bill, she's been deserving of this election to the League for a long time anyways

-Shazam - the former Captain Marvel Jr or CM3 or whatever, his new status quo needs exploration and he would be in a good spot here to explore his new stronger powers and place in the DCU while still being able to be somewhat of a rookie with Nightwing and the rest of the Leaguers looking out for him, plus he gives a magic connection to the League

-Booster Gold - With the rest of the League missing, Rip has Booster join the League (along with Skeets of course!) to help since the lack of the Trinity in the JLA at this point of time is not supposed to occur and is causing fractures in time, too bad Michael can't tell his teammates why he is actually on the team and still has to play the goofball, Nightwing has no idea why Batman left instructions to allow Booster on the team no matter what if he asks (due to Bruce knowing some of the truth behind Booster's mission)

-Cyborg - another former Titan who's election to the League is overdue. He ads some tech expertise to the team (second only to the next member listed) and some major power when needed, plus his familiarity with Nightwing, Troia and Shazam, similar knowledge in tech with Steel and somewhat Skyrocket helps the team gel

-Steel - the team's tech expert, and a powerhouse when needed, he can help Cyborg with some upgrades and keep Skyrocket good to go with her gear (which can need repairs above her expertise as seen in Power Company), plus he brings the prestige of an 'S' shield to this League

-Green Arrow (Ollie Queen) - with his wife, Black Canary, and "son", Arsenal (i refuse to call him Red Arrow), missing along with the rest of the previous league, I think it'd be harder to keep him away from this League, plus he adds League experience and recognition along with Hal and Arthur that much of the rest of this League is missing (so people on the street will say "Hey it's the Justice League" instead of "Hey it's those former Teen Titans")

-Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) - The team needs a GL and I decided if I had to chose between my favorite and John going missing i'd choose John and if I had to choose from the remaining sector 2814 GLs for this team i'd choose Hal again considering his being a founding member and best friends with Green Arrow

-Hawkman - Just like Ollie's feelings with Black Canary missing, it would be harder to keep Carter away from this League with Kendra missing, plus he ads a connection to the Justice Society no one else in this team has

-Deadman - Somebody i've thought always should've had honorary Justice League membership anyways. I'd have them to develop a way for Boston to have a physical roll when needed, but having an invisible member who can possess anybody when needed can't be a bad idea

-Skyrocket - A great character who deserves to be used. She was the only member of the Power Company who seemed like JLA material and her background with GL could lead to fun some fun moments between two former Sky jockeys

-Aquaman - Have Arthur return to this team and use this as a plat form to establish a new status quo for the character, somewhere between the extreme gruff version and the classic version he ads strength, knowledge and plus he's a founding member who should be on the team anyways

-Impulse - A grown version of Bart Allen, but in a "Sins of Youth" type grown up Impulse outfit, no-one knows how he's still alive or where he came from, just he's here to help find his missing family (Wally)

Lets say that the current team (Batman, Black Canary, Black Lightning, Firestorm, Flash (Wally), Green Lantern (Hal/John), Hawkgirl, Red Arrow, Superman, Vixen, Wonder Woman, Zatanna) have disappeared.

Let's say that the above group disappears on a mission that SHADE was supervising, leaving SHADE operative, Renee Montoya, to pull together a new JLA in order to go save the old one:

The Question (Renee Montoya)
Batwoman
Wonder Girl
Power Girl
Fire
Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes)
Loose Cannon
Ambush Bug
Hourman (Matthew Tyler)
Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner)
Obsidian

3. Impulse (w/ scout abilities)- scout/wildcard
4. Secret (w/powers)- mystic/additional scout
5. Linda Danvers Earth Angel Supergirl- powerhouse and 4th in command
6. Plastic Man- wildcard/special missions
7. Ray Palmer Atom- scientist
8. Oracle- researcher/information/coordination
9. Queen Hippolyta Wonder Woman- fighter/second in command
10. Ion (Kyle Rayner)- energy powerhouse
11. Hourman (DC 1,000,000 version)- android capabilities/time manipulation
12. Vic Sage the Question- detective

I always like that replacement team from Obsidian Age...so I'll use who I can from that team and add a few more

1.) Nightwing
2.) Green Arrow
3.) The Atom (Ryan Choi though)
4.) Liberty Belle (to replace Hawkgirl...never cared for her)
5.) Hourman (since you know he probably thinks he can't leave his woman alone with Nightwing :p)
6.) Shazam (since Billy probably still won't join up just like in Obsidian Age)
7.) Guy Gardner
8.) Steel
9.) Fire
10.) Ice
11.) Tempest (since he's finally back!)
12.) Blue Beetle (since the JLI team and Batman like him...and Jaime's just awesome :p)

Nightwing/Batman- Whichever Dick Grayson is at the time. Has been proven to be a great Team leader and tactician. Way better team player then Bruce

Captain Marvel/Shazam- Whoever is heading the Marvel Family at the time. Big time Heavy Hitter plus mystical background, possible Upgrade from Superman ;)

Power Girl- Cause sometimes you just need a Kryptonian. And she's less whiney then Supergirl. And the Boobs help too...uh they can distract the bad guys...?

Martian Manhunter- Because J'onn belongs in the JLA. And have you seen his power set? How is he not seen as a heavier hitter?

Green Arrow- You couldn't keep him out if something Happened to Roy and Pretty Bird. Plus you need at least a couple guys with no powers just awesome skill when someone hits the team with the Anti Meta Beam no.4 or whatever.

Steel- Because despite the horrible movie I like him. And you need a tech guy. Plus even with out the armor, dude will still whup butt.

Barry Allen Flash- Cause you need a Flash and speedsters make it all look easy.

Kyle Rayner/Guy Gardner Green Lanterns- They can trade off missions like Hal and John did. You need a GL. And they both need to seriously reconnect with Earth. Kyle is just too interesting not to have back on the team and show them how he's changed since they knew him. And Guy needs to be there shouting how he should be the leader and is better then anyone else.

Tempest- Rarely seen him handled well but he's a serious Aquaman Upgrade. I don't think he can talk to the fishies but when you can work the Atlantean sea Mojo like he can, who needs Puffer fish to come in and save the day?

ANd Finally Plastic Man- To keep the team from getting too serious. And he's really freaking powerful and useful. And they should keep an Eye on him.

Okay, so, starting with the aforementioned Big Three...

Aquaman (Orin)
Flash (Barry)
Martian Manhunter

And then...

The Atom (Ryan Choi)
Huntress
Isis
Animal Man
Green Lantern Arisia
Steel

That's all that comes to mind right now...
