They have a modus operandi they stick to, they exhibit obsessive behaviour, they target a specific type of person and they collect trophies.
Discuss.

Your criteria are so general that a whole line of professions could fit that bill. Athletes, for instance, fit all the qualities you described.
I am also very confused by that statement. I think it can describe serial killers but it does not accurately describe all superheroes.

Run with it, it's more a comment on superhero psychology.
(And who do athletes 'target'?)

They target their oppenents. They want to beat them,crush them. In sports like hockey,fighting sports its crushing them physicly too.
They target legendary athletes who hold world records,goalscoring record,point scoring record etc
Also not many superheroes collect trophies.

If saving lives is just an inversion of taking them, wouldn't firefighters and policemen also be similar to serial killers?
