Okay, with the new body, he can now..but could he always see Mr. Terrific? Wouldn't he be invisible to him? Any funny instances of this in some books? Just curious here.

I'd say yes due to the soul/spirit that resides within him, meaning he is not fully machine, so is able to perceive Mr. T.
I suppose you could apply the same question to the metal men, Amazo or countless other artificial lifeforms in the DC Universe. I seem to recall that he was invisible to Brother Eye & The OMACs, wasn't he?

The OMACs weren't truely machines though. They were regular people infected with nanotech virus.

He was still invisible to the OMAC and Brother Eye, despite them using human hosts.

Well, Red Torando and Mr. Terrific were together in "The Lightning Saga" and in "Sinestro Corps War". They didn't really interact, but I'm sure that John could see Michael either because he allowed him to or because John is different from the OMACs.

I'm pretty sure the difference is that while John has a robot body, it's his soul that takes prominence over the machine. Whereas with the Omacs, when the nanotech took over their human hosts, it was the machine that took prominence instead.

If that's how it works, that's ironic. Mister Terrific doesn't believe in souls, but his machine invisibility fails against machines with souls.

There was a short sequence in Lightning Saga that handled this, wasn't there?

I think it established that Tornado can't.

I'd think though that Michael would rationalise it; "John" was in essence an alien entity, the "tornado tyrant" originally, right? Or an offshoot thereof, I don't recall exactly. So rather than "soul", Mr Terrific probably looks at it as a lifeform in residence in the machine body.

Red Tornado can see him because he has a soul... I don't remember in which book I read this (probably some Meltzer JLA) but I found this quote on wikipedia.

The only exception to his invisibility however, is that of the Red Tornado, who for reasons yet unknown, is capable of seeing Terrific, despite being an android
