I love the idea of bringing him back as a badass and saying the Prometheus after his kick ass initial apperance in JLA was a fake. great great idea, but am I the only one who thinks having the Martian Manhunter rape someones mind effectivly lobotomizing him in a flash back, is grossly out of character?? That kind of pissed me off any thoughts?

Out of character? Not really.
He has done so before.
Only in extreme cases where the enemy was too much of a threat to contain.
In JLI, he induced a telepathic assault on DESPERO that essentially had him revert to a non-lethal fetal creature (MAYAVANA Trance, which makes the victim think all his dreams had been achieved, not unlike the Black Mercy.) Despero had just killed Gypsy's parents and they had thought he'd killed Mr. Miracle.
In Morrisson's JLA, he also reprogrammed the White Martians to forget who they were and had them live among us. It was sort of Martian Law (no pun intended) that he do so according to J'onn given the gravity of their offenses.
During the whole JLA Identity Crisis scandal where it was revealed the old JLA had lobotomized heroes, we have to remember that J'onn was an inactive reserve member during much of the Satellite era.
Maybe he wouldn't have agreed to contain Dr. Light. At most erase his memory of their identities, but not tamper with his brain. Why? Because unlike the aforementioned threats, J'onn would think Dr. Light was within their means to contain. Or maybe he'd agree. We'd never know.
Oddly, most of the JLA, specially Superman, Hal Jordan and even Batman were frequently using all sorts of different methods to induce memory loss back in the silver age.
I'm loving the Faces of Evil One Shots. Just wished Argus and Anima didn't just STAND THERE while Prometheus was mutilating GUNFIRE (who, after being "killed" and "maimed" several times over should really name his name to Cannon Fodder.) They only reacted AFTER the act.

I remember the White Martians and the Despero one from JLI or JLE but I didn't think they were as vulgar a solution as effectivly lobotomizing someone and sending to a cell for the rest of their life. And yes Argus was pretty ineffectual, and he's the only Bloodline character I really like, through his apperacnces in the Flash title a few years ago.
