I've just accepted a new job in Mahwah, NJ and will have to move there soon from Iowa:eek:
Can anybody give me any information about the state, or let me know if any other Hellboarders are in the neighborhood?
Thanks!

All i know about Mahwah is the Springsteen lyric that "they closed down the auto plant in Mahwah late last month".
Congrats on the new job JT!

I was gonna say I hope your new job isn't at the auto plant... Darn you Mr. Cross!
Nice area, more upstate NJ. I had lots of family there abouts, worked for a furniture company in pattersen. I commuted from NYC, when I lived in Queens.
I worked in sales. Some NJ Hellboarders live more down state. commuting from were you are is fairly easy lots of transit. Looks like NYCC would be your closest convention. Hope to see ya! It will be abit of a change, you comming from Iowa.
Your not far from the busy part of NJ.
Oh yes. If you drive, lefts are hard to come by. Must get used to making rights to go left. Don't worry you will get used to it. Easy hop skip and jump over to NYstate to go to all the skiing trails if you like that. Get used to tolls, if you drive must have toll money at all times.
Congratulations (if it is a promotion).

Congratulations! I know nothing of NJ, but I went to NYC once for a weekend 18 years ago and have wanted to go back ever since. (Holy crap I can't believe that was 18 years ago. *sigh*). But you'll be within weekend outing distance of this!

Never mind all of the other cool stuff in the area. This is great!

Thanks for the replies and congrats! This job would be essentially what I've been doing for the last 3 years-- creating art for slot machines-- except that the at new position I would be the lead artist and putting the finishing touches on other people's art as well.
We still need to work out the relocation details, as the cost of living is so much higher in NJ than it is in Iowa. We've been constantly online for the past week researching costs, and we have yet to receive any official word from the new job about relocation expenses.
So.... it may be too soon to celebrate. I should learn more Monday!
congrats and good luck ,John!!!
Hope it comes with more money!. You are neighboring Pensilvania, check there for realestate. Good Luck.

This is true..i live at the butt end of jersey. right next to atlantic city! I have no idea what its like in north jersey...ive wanted to claim south jersey as its own state for a while, but thats only because we talk and act nothing like north jersey peopler. i think thats almost the same for central jersey, yet im still friends with todd
im not sure how the beaches work up there, but you'll come to love the feeling of sand between your toes if the're like mine!
NJ is pretty pricey when it comes to a lot of things, Asa might be right about a PA residence.
ANNNDDD the new york comic con is feb 6,7, & 8th this year. im not sure if you're going to be around in time for that, but it was just an fyi!
good luck and congrats!!
