I only read the first issue but it was horrible, and I love DC's mystical/supernatural characters.

dropped it after 4 - it dragged and I haven't missed it.

My thoughts on the matter. (http://readrant.wordpress.com/2008/11/12/reviewrant-seventhsoldiers-reign-in-hell-experience-thus-far/)

... it was perhaps a little bit of a rant.

For the most part, I've enjoyed Reign in Hell. And I should say that I'm not someone who's ever really been interested in DC's magic corner of things.

It falls short of being DC's magical answer to Annihilation, but I put the fault of that on DC more than Giffen. They gave him the bare minimum to work with. Well... okay, they gave him eight issues instead of six. That is something. But he's still having to cram a story that would have been better told with multiple titles in one. The art isn't doing it any favors either. It's not bad art, but it's totally wrong for this story. It gets kind of stylized and unclear. That's the last thing I want to see when I'm having trouble recognizing all the various demons and characters as it is.

The story itself doesn't hold up too badly compared to Annihilation. It has some of the same elements. Like having a huge cast but members of that character getting all these cool little moments to shine. I get a little lost at times, but it's overall a good read.

The backup stories with Dr. Occult have been pretty entertaining too.

Dropped it with #5. Too expensive for what ended up being a moderately decent story.

i like the book. but it's so close to ending now that you should just wait for the tpb, unless you want and can find all the issues.

I wish to god it was an "Annihilation" for the DC occult set.

Instead, it was like a barely-zippier "Rann Thanagar Holy War" debacle.

I dropped it after four issues as well. I actually liked the combination of Derenick and Billy the Sink on art (which gave it a real Bisley feel, in my opinion), but the story just wasn't there. Then Lobo turned up, and the whole thing started sliding even further downhill.

Yeah, Lobo. Shoehorning the most ridiculous character ever, without the redeeming details of Kirby-esque goofiness that Morrison gave him in "52" (like the talking dolphin compatriot, Lobo as a religious idol of worship). Bad, bad, bad.

Need a third option, somewhere inbetween. Still buying it but can't say it's one of books I look forward to every month. It's an 'okay' read.

I don't think its all that bad. Sure it may take awhile to develop but the series is 8 issues and they're doing a good job of filling them up. Compared to Final Crisis, Battle for the Cowl, and Rise of the Manazon; this stands to be a better series.

Compared to FC? You're smoking some bad stuff, son.

The story hasn't been great, but if you miss Shadowpact, and want to see some more of those guys, then it's worth the read. I'm down for anything with Ragman and Dr. Occult.

I was wondering that too. Mind you, considering what the current editorial seems to think about characters not created in the Silver Age, it's probably better that she stays in Limbo.

Last I heard she was still in Hell but I'm not reading the mini so I can't say for sure.

Thats kind of where I am at with this series. I buy it for the characters. Plus the fact that its the only magicverse title DC is putting out right now.

It seems she was in the latest issue of Reign, in a little back story type thing at the end.

[SPOILERS] She appeared as a tall, blonde woman wirth feathered wings and was slightly on fire, and referred to as a Fallen Angel. And she made mention of Lilith bringing her down. It was lame. DC better have a damn good explaination as to why theyre depicting Linda this way.

If it's anything like the rest of the series, they probably won't. I'm still in the dark as to why Prince Ra-Man was on Satanus' council when he was depicted as King Ra-Man in the SS: Zatanna series.

After 7S: Zatanna, Infinite Crisis happened, changing everything.
