Does anybody else think this is about the coolest high concept thing done in comics in forever? It really deserves it's own thread! It's probably the most exciting thing Marvel has done since Bucky returned as the Winter Soldier.

Marvel definitely needs to be doing in house ads with this poster, and jumping on this. It's just too cool. I don't see how this couldn't grab everybody's attention.

Hey, Marvel, give it the attention you give the latest Mark Millar or Brian Bendis story, and watch sales jump. Paul Cornell could probably stand to do a podcast with wordballoon.com.

What do you guys think about this?

Dracula is on the moon having a Twilight fan for dinner and asks a minion to call Dr. Doom. Yeah, really. Comics don't get much cooler than that.

I'm not sure I quite get the point of the moon thing, though.

Because it's the most bizarre place for Dracula to be setting up shop!

Exactly!

And don't forget he had a Twilight fangirl for dinner! It's just too awesome to be true.

This I gotta see. I wonder how long this alliance will last and why are they at the site of the Apollo mission landing?

Reminds me of the good ol' days in Super-Villain Team Up with a classic duel between Doom and the Red Skull. That's why I will be picking up Doctor Doom and the Masters of Evil. It reminds me of the days when comics were entertaining.

Does anybody have a scan of those last two pages handy for those who might like to see what the fuss is all about?

I wonder if there's any chance Dracula is the "Master" Doom has been referring to over in Millar's FF. At least that concept would be slightly (very slightly) acceptable.

This could be just what the book needs to gain some new interest and new readers. The idea behind that image is so totally bizarre that who wouldn't want to check out the book just to find out what the hell is going on.

My Latverian compatriot, Ambassador Curt has the last page at least at his website...(and a very good one at that)

Go here The Latverian Embassy (http://www.angelfire.com/planet/doctordoom/dnn.html) scroll down to the Doom News Network entry for Jan 16 and click on the image of The Count.

Trust the Cornell!!!

eh - I just love saying it.

I love that he penned the most interesting part of SI - and now he might be trumping the Dark Reign hullaballoo with his own take on it.

Probably because one side of the moon is always facing away from the sun, and therefore he is in perpetual darkness and safe from harm. At least I assume that's what the writer is going for.

I totally agree. This is an attention grabbing image. It needs to be appearing in other Marvel titles.

He has being doing a lot of interviews this week according to his Twitter status. Not sure if they're related to this, though. He's also done casts with iFanboy in the past.

It's a fantastic image. I'm really looking forward to seeing the story itself.

This makes sense to me. What doesn't, is who Dracula's been snacking since he left Earth. He'll be a hungry vamp when he comes back.

@ Dusty, I share your enthusiasm for this issue. Doom and Dracula are the strangest and best pairing of villains I've seen in years! Hopefully, this will bring up those sales numbers we're all fretting.

Agreed. Not to mention how he got to the moon in the first place. The latter is easier to reconcile, given Dracula's abilities/connections and all the space/teleportation technology in the MU, but the former? I can't imagine the Inhumans are as easy targets to feed off of as humans are. Not to mention- IIRC the Blue Area of the Moon is on the side facing the Earth, hence, perpetually in sunlight.

Which just proves Doom and Dracula aren't really on the moon, since we all know the lunar landing (http://www.ufos-aliens.co.uk/cosmicapollo.html)was faked.

Ehm, did Marvel just steal an idea from the Dr. Mcninja (http://drmcninja.com/page.php?pageNum=17&issue=11) webcomic?

Or does this mean that Dr. Mcninja is in Marvel continuity? No, that would mean that something cool and not dreadfully depressing was happening on Marvel earth.

The Inhumans have left the moon completely. They're base lifted off the moon, flew into space and is currently making it's way into Shi'ar territory. This is all happening in War of the Kings. This doesn't really indicate how long Dracula's been the man in the moon.

More than likely, it'll be explained why they're on the moon. Cornell always delivers on plot points like that, like he knows what we're thinking. Not like Bendis; "so why couldn't Skrulls be found with magic, telepathy or technology until Reed Richards came along with his gun?"

Etc. Anyway, looks to be as much of an amazing issue as every other and it's great so see such a big bad guy in Captain Britain & MI:13. Not that Dracula ISN'T a big bad guy but Dr Doom is more mainstream. Doom is going to be very busy during Dark Reign, come to think of it . . .

Captain Britain & MI:13 is the best book on the shelves right now. It'd be criminal if people didn't buy this.

A vampire hunter ressurected all the vampires? That seems kinda counter intuitive to his job description.

Well, I guess that's one way to ensure he'll stay in business.

Yeah. That was in Blade's last series. I guess Chaykin thought that all the big bad vampires in Marvel were gone. Bringing them back would make for better adversaries. Unfortunately for him the book was cancelled.

Fortunately for Captain Britain and MI13 it's a nice plot point for a decent new story.

I always wanted to see more interaction between Doom and Dracula.

I just remembered...Ultimate Doom (aka Victor Van Damme) is supposed to be descended from Vlad the Impaler. Not that it correlates to the MU that Von Doom and Dracula reside but still, even geographically Latveria is fairly close to Transylvania. And we saw in Blade that Mother Cynthia Von Doom did tangle with a few vampires back in the day, before Victor was born.

If I only bought one comic a month it'd be Cornell's Captain Britain, he seems to be making everything work and Im sure this will be no exception. Brilliant pace, enough of a balance between character interaction and action, humour, cultural and comic references, cool villains and every character getting their own moments. This is what a team book should be like!

Well, we saw him taking a bite out of a vampire fangirl. The question as to how she got onto the moon is also one to ponder. Right now, my guess would be magic, but it'll be explained soon enough.

Dracula can turn into a bat and fly to the moon. He doesn't need to breath so the lack of air is no problem, neither is the radiation. Just needs to keep out of way of sun. Or he could have used some teleport nonsense. Excellent cover. The day can't come quick enough.

If you haven't heard, this series has been cancelled, with this one great epic arc to go.

Here's Cornell discussing the upcoming story.

http://marvel.com/news/comicstories.6672.MI13~colon~_Dracula_Comes_to_Bri tain

Isn't there anything that can be done about this series getting the axe, like a 2nd season thing they did for She-Hulk? Rerelease it with a new #1, hype the hell out of it, and maybe give it a bit higher profile artist. I like Leonard Kirk, and he's very responsible for the series being so great, but he doesn't sell comics.

The book has 6 issues to go as a guarantee. People seem so genuinely psyched about the prospect of this arc. Let's try to turn a corner here.

If sales can rise for this arc - and all concerned are REALLY going to be pushing the boat out, her - then Marvel could reconsider. People really need to give this arc a go. It could really change this title's future.
