Okay, I remember someone saying this is a child friendly site or something a while back, but as of late, and I've been mostly ignoring it but the ad I just saw with the lady with the wide eyed expression and the message that clearly makes use of the word penis strike me as kind of a odd thing to have near the top of a homepage.
I mean it was funny at first, but is CBR really the kind of place that needs to advertise male enhancement suppliments?
again mostly laughs and giggles but I wonder what you guys and gals think of it?

Apparently they are having trouble with those ads over on BoingBoing too. They've even posted this (http://www.boingboing.net/2009/01/16/how-to-get-rid-of-vi.html)entry with links on proposed solutions.
Personally I have AdBlock and NoScript running on my browser, so I rarely see any ads.

Since CBR is using Google they have less control over individual ads showing than one might think. this is an advertiser that has (mis)categorized their ad and it is coming up due to certain key words showing up on the board or they are buying space on everything. i am sure the ads will be flagged soon.

What darkhanamaru has said is true. The spots that are using Google AdSense are harder to control since they are random and generated by what text is on the page. Sometimes some ads are mis-categorized or advertisers intentionally do it to get on more sites.
Although Jonah has stated that CBR is meant for an older audience. The target age range 18 an up. He has run more mature ads, such as ads for Suicide Girls, in the past.

ah okay. I wasn't sure how the ad thing worked, thanks for explaining that both darkhanamaru and Brandon.

Apparently it's a symptom of some kind of browser hijack or spyware or something. Check out the link to Boingboing that was posted above.
