I was reading a Final Crisis #6 article....not to invoke yet another Marvel vs. DC debate, but I have to say....
Its amazing that Marvel managed to bring back Bucky and kill Captain America while interweaving major company-wide events... and have it turn out good and coherent.
DC on the other hand brought back Jason Todd, killed Batman and tied-in to major 'events' and it turned out confusing, clunky and in some spots just plain bad.
I'm not liking Marvel right now for their $3.99 books and 'events' that are preludes to other 'events', but I will hand it to them on that one.

No Final Crisis spoilers!
Also, Final Crisis isn't over yet. You're allowed to be confused until the last issue.

Marvel has had a lot of lame deaths, too, like Hawkeye, Jack of Hearts, or the Wasp. Or deaths that were good until undone, like Gwen Stacy. Read my signature.

That's a different topic, Marvel's greedy price increase. No the line before it... every Marvel hero has died at least once by now, and death just doesn't mean much anymore. It's like a trip to the penalty box.

Half of them died during the Infinity trilogy, when Thanos killed 50% of everybody in existence. And all of them died and were then brought back in Marvel: the End, which is still in continuity, unlike the other "The End" comics which were never more than What If scenarios.

You don't want to invoke a debate, and yet praise Marvel and go after DC?
Kinda sketchy.
I'd say a good death was... The Asgardians in Ragnarok (Thor Disassembled).
A bad one... Alpha Flight. 'nuff said.

In my opinion...
Good death- Captain America, the allegory behind it is what I thought made it great. Him dying by gunshot was so shocking yet fitting and his death continues to effect the MU even two years later.
Bad Death- The Wasp. I mean seriously WTF!?
Jean Grey's death in Grant Morrison's run gets an honorable mention
Captain Marvel's death in the 80's was excellently done as well.
Alpha Flight really got the short end of the stick though...

Was there a point to this or did this just sound a helluva lot more interesting in your head?
I can think of pros and cons in terms of character deaths on both sides of the company coin. Or are you just itching to get some ill-informed licks in on FC on a Marvel board?

The Death of Captain Marvel, now that was a good death.
honorable mention goes to Jean Grey, Bill Foster, and Banshee

I will agree that the way Batman was handled was kind odd in format. It starts in the Batman series, which is given somewhat of a false ending.. then REALLY concludes in the event. That to me is kinda weird. I don't know why they did it that way, except maybe to get people to read both or something.

Well I kind of meant it more as an observation on how to do a good story. If Marvel found a decent way of of bringing Bucky back, then perhaps there was as decent way of bringing Jason Todd back.
So its not much a "DC sucks" thing for me. Its less about what you do and more about how you do it.
