What is a pull list? Is it any different from a subscription?

And on the subject of subscriptions, is it any better than buying from you LCS? I really don't have any budget constraints (I usually buy around 20 - 30 titles per month), but he extra money form subscriptions could allow me to pick up some trades that I always wanted, especially new stuff.

Can anyone clarify what the mailing info meant on the Marvel subscriptions page? Does it mean you receive the issues later than when they come out? I just could not make head or tails of what they meant.

If anyone could sort out my questions it would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT:

Just a quick note that I forgot: do subscriptions include annuals? Also, if a issue has variants, which cover do you get, the standard, one of the variants, or all of them?

I went through the Marvel site again and I think I figured it out (at least the part where the subscriptions DON'T include annuals):

The first issue ships arrives within 6-8 weeks because they have to process the request, and then wait for the issue to ship. My remaining question is, are all of the following shipped on time? Do they arrive on the day that issues is released everywhere? If not, I don't think I'll get any subscriptions. As much as I want to save money, I'd rather get the issues on time and spend a little extra money.

And a new question:

Why does Marvel state that the retail price for 12 issues of Thor are $60?! By my reckoning, 12 issues at $3 each adds up to $36, not $60.

a pull list is a list of the comics you want thats given to your LCS and they'll have them ready for you. this assures that you'll get a copy even if the stores sells out. some stores will also give you a discount if you start a pull list. ive seen them from 10-20% discounts. dont know about subscriptions since i buy mine from an internet store. i get a 40% discount and delivered once month. they have a weekly deliversy schedule (and bi-weekly i think) but that'll cost more for the shipping. i buy them from http://www.dcbservice.com/

I recently cancelled my subscription to Marvel because the titles very rarely arrived on time. Sometimes not at all. I still haven't received Spider-man #577 from back in November. They were increasing arriving in bad shape and I had to keep track of the replacements and stay on top of Marvel to ensure they processed it. Still haven't received a couple of replacements for damaged issues received before Christmas. Do yourself a favor and avoid Marvel's subscription service. It sucks out loud.
