Newsarama has a great interview up with Editor Mark Paniccia that talks about the upcoming "Agents of Atlas" Ongoing which is launching as a part of Marvel's Dark Reign storyline. So far I'm loving all the little teases about the book. I especially look forward to the Agents butting heads with Osborn. And the earlier teases about run-ins with The Avengers and The X-Men. Since they're undercover as the villains.

With the original mini-series carrying such great word-of-mouth, even getting nominated for an Eisner for it's Trade. And the new ongoing launching out of Dark Reign, I see a pretty bright future for the Agents of Atlas. One that's richly deserved. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Jeff Parker's the best writer currently working at Marvel. And hopefully he'll get a shot at a core book one of these days.

It seems like they've some of the charm of the original mini, although the art is much better.

This cover is horrible, really.

But the book looks interesting.

Bite your tongue, sir.
Indeed. The cover is awesome. :)

Funny how many times that cover composition has appeared as of late.

Astonishing X-Men, Marvel Apes, and now Agents of Atlas.

They're Heroes.

But the Atlas Foundation that Jimmy Woo inherited in the Mini-Series is a vast criminal empire.

They're basically playing up their villain roles in order to get dirt on Osborn. Undercover Sting.

They're old Atlas Comics characters. One of Marvel's old names.

They were dusted off and brought into the modern age in the 2006 Agents of Atlas Mini-Series.

They had a one-shot story in Spider-Man Family #4. And then leading up to their ongoing they had a short story in SI: Who Do You Trust? and then another in Dark Reign: New Nation.

This looks like the most fun of the Dark Reign books. I haven't picked up the trade yet, but I plan to some time in the next three weeks before the book starts.

And yes, I too hope that The Uranian brings the old school space fishbowl back into style. And you gotta love the death-ray robot too.

I woudn't say Parker was the best writer at Marvel these days, because his first introduction mini for the AoA was a bit sketchy, but tantalising. The only reason he excites me so much with the upcoming series, is that it is DR related, and gives the AoA something to sink their teeth in. The was Parker wrote those teaser shorts for DR:New Nation and the issue #1, made me state that AoA are better than the Avengers, now. And sadly, that's because Bendis butchered the Avengers into non-recognition. The AoA are your classical Avengers team, now. Free, powerful, and able to handle any situation.

I am really looking forward to Parkers run on this. Having AoA really be challenged by Osborn will be a great springboard for the teams talents.

Jeff Parker's work on the AoA mini was stellar, so I will be picking this one up. Never dreamed they'd end up getting an ongoing.
