I was watching this movie yesterday:

Its set in the year 2009, when you can steal a body from the past and transfer your mind in it and have a healthy new body.
Regardless of the plot, that movie got me wondering about those futurisc films with settings in years we already have achieved.
From your experience with futurisc movies:
What about if the future it's not so apocaliptic or maybe it's not happening so fast?
Can these movies lose its charming when we achieve its years?
And what about gadgets, machines, or the world of the future? Is there something cool to have or better to avoid?
