Finally! A show that make re-introduce the awesomeness of Tokusatsu to America!
The official first episode: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=r57dD4K8ZRs

Personally, I love it! Twice as good as the original pilot, and better than anything Power Rangers has presented in over a decade. Who else is excited?!

I liked what's aired so far. The main girl is kinda annoying but everything else looks great.

Anyone read the manga?

I've read a few issue a while back and I thought it was far more dark and sinister than the TV series.

Anyone know how much suit footage they're using that's not from Ryuki?

A good bit, actually, from what I've heard. I've only been able to see episode 1. Anyone see the later episodes? Are they any good?

I'm catching them every week. Pretty good, actually. Incisor had some interesting motivation and it's cool once Kit starts to realize what he's actually getting into.

Don't worry, I found a site that has it! Today'll be my KRDK marathon!

EDIT: Damnit, episodes 3 and 4 are f***ed up for some reason, and won't let me see them. I'm really disappointed.

Any other sites I can see them?

Yeah, I am.

Today's episode was pretty cool, simply because Torque didn't need to "mind-warp" Kit into turning on Len. Len basically gave Torque the opening to turn Kit against him by playing "tall, dark, and mysterious superhero from another world" for as long as he did with Kit and not being more forthcoming from the get-go. Granted, Len had no particular reason to trust Kit, but he should have come clean as soon as Kit contracted with that Advent Dragon and took on Dragon Knight's mantle. Really, though, the trust issues that were there at the beginning . . . and that still exist to a certain extent now . . . definitely allowed Torque the advantage in splitting Kit and Len.

Power Rangers, on the other hand, overused the "brainwashing" plot device almost every time they needed a Ranger to start out evil. One exception was the Titanium Ranger in Lightspeed Rescue; Diabolico played on a young boy's fears and insecurities to turn him against his own family and send him to kill them all once he'd grown up. The Thunder Rangers in Ninja Storm were somewhat similar in that Lothor played on their grief and desire for vengeance and turned it on his own enemies in the Wind Ninja Academy. Of course, this being PR, he had to use brainwashing to make them keep working for him when they wised up to what was really going on.

But when all's said and done, the point I'm trying to make is that brainwashing is overdone as a plot device, as it's an easy deus ex machina to make two heroic characters fight each other. Much better from a creative standpoint to make the villain play off the heroes' insecurities and fears and anxieties and exploit those to turn them against each other. It's rather somewhat more believable, in that real-life friendships have been torn apart over suppressed feelings forcibly brought to surface, and it gives you a smarter, more devious villain that you can buy as being a threat to the heroes at all beyond brute force.
